This is a wonderful salon in general.  My stylist is Pam and she is great. It is sometimes hard to get an appointment when I can come but she is worth the wait. The only problem I have had is with the people on the front desk. I have called to get my haircut from Pam, and rather than asking me if I want to be put on a waiting list, in case of a cancellation, they just flat out say no, she is booked. Last time they did this they made my appointment with someone named Janet.  Nice person BUT she gave me the haircut and color she wanted to give me rather than what I asked for. I showed her a picture of the cut that Pam had given me, which I loved, and the color. She commented that maybe I should have my own color...mouse brown.  I hate mouse brown.  I told her no, I wanted it lighter.  But what I got was mouse brown with highlights that are practically invisible. And a haircut, while shorter, is still too long. When she got done I told her I didn't like it. She said to try it for a few days and if I still didn't like it, to come back and she would put in more highlights.  Well, it has been a couple of weeks and I hate it even more.  Why go back to someone who screws up your hair  in order to fix it?  She obviously could not do that style of haircut, even though the front desk said she could when I made the appointment. I wish I could afford to go back now to have Pam do my hair but at $135 a pop, I will have to wait a few weeks. Read Less

Got an eyebrow wax which was done very well by Gina and I was happy with the results. I went to pay but they refused to let me tip on my credit card. When I suggested that they change their system to allow for tipping, the woman running the reception desk came back at me with attitude saying "Well, that's not how we do things here." I had to walk over to Walgreens, get cash back, then walk back over just to give Gina a tip for her hard work. I doubt I will be back again despite the good job. I got my brows done their with Gina absolutely amazing. She was so nice good customer service, usually busy but has time for every customer.they Try to flexible even with booked schedules. She not only had good customer service but made sure it was what I wanted by showing me 5 minutes into my wax. Wasn't painful very relaxing. Great experience. Just make an appointment ahead of time. i have been going to new day spa for my haircuts and styling for about 8 yrs now. I always have Michael and for a reason . he is fantastic . he knows how to cut my hairso well that it always looks good even as it is growing out !! I love Grace! She does an awesome job at hard waxing my eyebrows. I use to get my eyebrows waxed the conventional way, with wax and gauze, but my skin is just too sensitive. Grace cured that! I had a massage there once. I was having such problems sleeping, and was recommended to get a massage. OMG! Boy, did it do wonders! The hair stylists are also really good, but only got a few trips there... They also sell a great variety of products. Only complaint is the salon is a bit dated. Ha. Take your Brazilian somewhere else!!Ouch! They burned me so bad with the wax it took me weeks to heal. Unprofessional and very unsanitary. The women had me sit up which caused me to flinch more and when the wax didn't remove properly she blamed me for flinching! Any professional knows that is not the way to position someone. She also used baby powder before applying the wax, what a mess!I wanted to walk out of the room so many times but thought I could just tough it out. Never again, I felt so foolish. I made a last minute appointment regarding a hair emergency and was able to see someone that day. I've never been to this place and had no idea what I was getting myself into but anything was better then the orange hair I had on top of my head due to horrible bleaching. I was appointed with Ashley and she seriously saved my life and hair! She fixed the orange to a nice blond which was ombred at the bottom. She cut my hair and I just have nothing bad to say about her! I would definitely recommend her and this salon. Everyone seemed nice and I know I'll definitely be back :) Read Less

I'd give this place NO STARS if I could.  I went here to get highlights, and when expressed that I was unhappy with the result, the stylists yelled at me, got in my face, kicked me out, and CHASED ME OUT TO MY CAR THREATENING TO CALL THE COPS ON ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T LIKE MY HAIR!!!  We didn't use any heat on my high lights and it didn't sit long.  Once it was dry I could not see any highlights, it just looked like she colored it a pinch lighter.  When I tried to calmly and quietly tell her I didn't like it, she threw her stuff down on the counter and walked away from me.  Then another stylist got in my face and went on and on about how bad my hair was- but the stylist did a good job.  When I tried to tell the woman at the desk that I felt the stylists were being rude, the other stylist got in my face and told me to "get out and don't ever come back!"  I would have paid for the haircut since that came out okay, but when I tried to pay, the stylist threatened to call the cops on me.  When I tried to walk out the door, the stylist chased after me and continued to yell at me and call the cops all the way to my car.  Only go here if you want your hair done incorrectly and get the police called on you because you don't like your do. I've been wanting to get a facial and spend some cash on pampering myself....so, I played hookey from work and spent 3 hours at the spa!   This was my first visit here, but I have friends that come often and love this place.   I will say, when I called to make my appointment - the person on the phone was not very friendly.   I had questions, but she was rushed and you could tell she didn't want to spend the time answering me.  I was a bit put off, but figured I would still go.   My thinking is, this is a spa, your interaction with them should always be calming.  The phone call was not.I went today for a facial, mani, and pedi.  They have a package for $117.  I never had a facial before, I was excited and nervous.  I had the lovely Grace for my facial and she was amazing!  So nice, funny, personable, professional - and made me feel wonderful.   My skin has never looked or felt so good when she was done.   I highly recommend!!I then moved onto my pedi & mani with Katina.  She was fun!  I felt bad that she had to work on my nasty feet and chewed up fingernails.   We laughed about it, and she worked miracles on me.  I am so happy with the results.   I booked another appointment with her in a month!   The place inside is a bit outdated - could use to be freshened up and made a bit more modern....but it was clean.   Everyone there was friendly and you felt welcomed.Spend a little bit more money and get a real spa experience!! After a catastrophe with another salon on Thursday, I called New Day on Friday and told them I have a hair emergency and my wedding is next week. They were able to squeeze me in the same day with a lovely stylist named Keith. What a miracle worker!! Keith highlighted and toned my hair and there is no trace of the awful highlight job I got the day before. He was funny and nice, but not incredibly chatty asking every detail of my life, which was appreciated. Keith and I are going to be friends for a long while. If you are a new customer, remember to bring cash for a tip as they do not allow you to tip on the card. I was new to the area a year ago and I stopped in to get my eyebrows waxed. Both Grace and Kashka are amazing! Friendly and thorough - I won't go anywhere else! I also needed a haircut but I have curly hair so I'm always wary of new places. Danielle did a great job and was super nice. With the exception of the noise level (but it's busy, which is always a good sign) I would definitely say go here! Let me tell you about the three times I went here.First time: High school prom updo. I was very happy with this experience. I had no idea what I wanted done and the stylist told me to trust her judgement. I did and it was absolutely fabulous.Second time: Came here to get a massage. I had a back injury a year prior to this and also had a lot of stress in my life at that point. My mom decided I needed to relax and a massage would be a good way to do that and work out my back. The masseuse (sp?) rubbed me the wrong way (no, not literally). Right off the bat she said I was too young to get a massage because I didn't have any stress yet since I'm not an adult, and apparently adults are the only ones that could have stress (I was a 19 year old college student. Really?). After that comment, I didn't really want a massage anymore, but I went through with it anyway. I guess she did okay but I was too upset to enjoy it.Third time: My mom decided to treat me to a haircut and color. My hair is dark brown/black and I asked for a lighter, almost caramel color. Just something to warm it up for the Spring season. What I ended up with was hair color darker than what I had, if you can imagine it. I'm talking jet black. And the haircut wasn't good either. My bangs were cut straight across and my hair was cut the same way. I looked like an anime girl. It was horrible. I asked her about the color and she said "Oh it will lighten up in a few days. It just always looks dark to begin with." Um, do I look like an idiot? That's not how hair color works, sweetie. I had to go get that "color out" stuff to take away the color which turned my hair orange/blond. Then I had to get a box color and put it back to my normal shade. My hair was horribly damaged for a while. I'm glad other people have had good experiences here, but there's no way I'm going back. Read Less

I need to compliment my esthetician Ashley! She's been doing my brows for YEARS! Her availability is great, she always remembers me & we pick up from the conversations we had the last time I was at New Day Salon & Spa! I had my first facial with Ashley earlier this week. I've been experiencing breakouts on my chin. She addressed all of my questions and gave me great advice on how to go about clearing up my skin. She recommended a great product for me to take home, and no kidding, my chin is clearing up and it's only been three days! I don't what she did, but she worked magic!!! 2 of my sister in laws work here. It's a great place to go for anything you need done at a spa or salon. I've had a massage, ear candling, pedicure and facial here. The staff is so friendly and does such a great job. While I've never got my hair done here, I know plenty of people that have and it always turns out great. I go here for Nicole/Nikki too! I even mailed her a Vday card and chocolate after the first time she did my hair. She did a great job for a great price. I'm going to be sad when she leaves on maternity leave! I'm going in for a haircut and dye soon. I hope she can fix my bangs like she did last time. I messed them up! Most people don't get my bangs right, but she's got it.She is a great listener and we have great conversations where it doesn't sound fake. I'm surprised there are only 2 reviews here, I mean they have won awards. (no matter how sarcastic that sounded it wasn't) This place is nice. I only go here for one reason...NICOLE. She is great. I have known her for years and she really listens to you. To be honest I wouldn't be going here if she wasn't there. The salon isn't bad or anything, but it is a drive out to the burbs that I can otherwise avoid.The salon is cute and clean, and the costumers are mostly "soccer moms". Sometimes these soccer moms can be annoying. I feel like the front desk girls are annoyed and rude when on the phone but when you walk in, they are sweet and greet you with a smile. This is understandable in a way considering that they are probably answering the annoying phone all day. I relate.Like I said, I wouldn't be going here if it wasn't for Nikki, and when she goes on maternity leave I will have to go somewhere else. :(I also had my eyebrows done here & it was pretty nice. The girl was very nice & knew what she was talking about. The shampoo girls are great too.Good place to go if it's within your reach. Everyone young and old walks out with a cute hair style. I found it was easy to book my appointment, the stylists were fantastic, and it was all reasonably priced. If you are a bride and are looking to book your bridal party updos here...beware of hidden deposits!  Here's my story:In May 2008 I made an appointment for myself and my bridesmaids to have our hair done at New Day Spa.  In the time between May 2008 and Feb 2009 I called New Day Spa twice to make changes to the appointments.  During these three separate occasions there was no mention of a deposit being required.  On Feb 25, 2009 Laurie, the owner, called me to inform me that a deposit was required in order to secure the appointments.  I was surprised to have been told I needed to put money down because a deposit was never mentioned in the past.  I looked on the website to see if information existed about a deposit, but nothing was listed.  No written contract was given to me stating that I needed to pay a deposit.I am not sure why a deposit wasn't asked of me the day I made the appointments.  If it was, then this situation wouldn't exist.  As it stands currently, a verbal contract between myself and New Day Spa was broken.What upsets me the most is the fact that this issue has put me in a difficult situation.  Now, less than 3 months before my wedding (on a holiday weekend), I need to find a new salon to do hair for six people. It should also be noted that I tried to resolve this situation between myself and the owner through email, but a response was not given by the owner.  So, I was forced to turn to the BBB.In an economic time like this, I am shocked to experience such unprofessional behavior from a business.
