It is a very nice place. You could even step over to the wine bar directly to the north of the place and take a glass in with you. To get to my rating, I did not give it 5 stars because when I got into the light my nails had streaks and them I did not notice while I was there. So I called back and let them know that I was coming back on the following day to get the problem rectified. At first it seemed like Kevin who was the technician who did my nails seem to act like he didn't know what to do. I did not appreciate that feeling because I was a brand new customer. He says, 'Well, I'll just put another coat on it that's all that I can do.' that may be true but at least let me feel that you want your work to speak highly of you. Lovely atmosphere. Even better is I can communicate with the people there. The only thing I ask is that they please invest in better chairs for the customers. I absolutely love City Nails! I use to live in Oak Lawn but now I live in Lynwood. I travel 30 mins to come here. Andy is my nail tech and he is the BEST! Any nail design I show him he can do. My friend got her nails done here and she’s never been so embarrassed in her life that’s she full on cried! She doesn’t even want to post because she’s so embarrassed! She went to get her nails done for her birthday and wanted French tips but the lady who served her said no it would look stupid on her. She’s never felt so hurt in her life! On top of this the nails where diagonal! About as straight as my gay best friend to be exact. On top of that she had three different lad...ies do her nails and one of them even admitted to making a mistake but just laughed about it! The employees didn’t even communicate with her. So if you go, ask for anybody BUT TRACI.This place is a decent local nail salon with average prices and a HUGE selection of colors. I like that they use a new plastic wrap inside the pedicure baths too! I've had andy, minnie, and a few other people and they're all excellent. The establishment would have gotten 5/5 stars if it wasn't for Tami.The first time I had traci, she handed me off 1/2 way through because she clearly was more interested in a different client who just walked in. The next time I had her, she did the same thing. The NEXT time I had her, she took me the whole visit, and kept saying, for me to ask for her next time I come in, nobody else. She didn't do an over the top job to where she was somebody I'd like to pick up again... my nails were merged together with my skin and she was kind of rough. Today, I had her for the last time... She took me the whole time which i was glad, I don't like being split for tip purposes. However when I chose the basic pedicure, her demeanor changed. she spent about 5 seconds scrubbing my heals, and really didn't massage my legs at all. I've always gotten at least a 4-6 minute massage with the basic. I'm not a person who needs paraffin wax and hot stones... let me relax for a hot minute and i'll be on my way. When it came to my nails, crap job! She didn't soak them or properly clean the nail beds up before applying my dip polish, and again, the polish/dip was seriously merging my skin and nails together. Also, she removed a cuticle gadget from a sterile bag in her drawer and put it right back into the sterile bag and folded it over so it looked clean and unused. EW. I give 2 stars for customer service. The nail tech I had was very unfriendly. She mostly used gestures to get me to do what she needed me to do & ignored me when I asked her to cut down my nail further. I had to ask twice before I was acknowledged. Not sure if she did not understand or was ignoring me. But, I believe it was the latter. She looked mad while she was giving me a pedicure & did not say a word. I had my hair cut from here today and I was really un happy with the result.. so I went to complain and they insisted that it was an even cut when it wasn't at all.. I asked for a front fringe and I'm not even sure what they did. I told them I wasn't happy, their response was to go look in a mirror. They knew it wasn't what I wanted and they didn't care at all, the fringe isn't even blended into my hair.. We argued for a while and they just would not give my money back. I have to go to another hair dresser and pay $25 again so someone can fix what they did.. don't get me wrong some staff there were nice enough but the lady I had to deal with makes me never want to go back again. I don't think I'll be going back. Went in for a full set and pedicure on a Sunday around 11. The good: the wait was very short. Plenty of staff to accommodate. The pedicure was good. Chairs are really good. Color selection was plentiful. Apparently you can get alcohol from the wine bar next door and bring it in. They speak good English so there isn't a lot of communication breakdown. The bad: my almond shape ended up coffin. They're crooked and complete inconsistent as far as nail width. HAIR SERVICE REVIEW So I've been there twice now purely for trims- the first time my mum came with me and it was explained to the guy cutting my hair I wanted a very tiny amount cut off as it has been a very long time since I trusted a hairdresser after another store absolutely ruining it. It started well, the guy was very gentle and small then towards the end sort of looked at it and just went CHOP CHOP CHOP (im not being a dramatic customer im talking 2 fingers in length (t...wo fingers on top of each other not side by side!) ) and I just sat there frozen and didnt want to go back. My mum convinced me to try one more time and just get another person. I received another male who took a lot more care with my hair and did an appropriate amount who continued to check in with me instead of standing back and making his own decision. So I guess it depends who you receive! Ill trust the man who I felt more respected by again. Great place to get nails done by Minnie. She does a wonderful job and I have been going here for a couple of years now. I don't like how staff changes so quickly but that is what happens in retail. They should however try to maintain more women then men there.  Fortunately when I find a good tech that leaves I get a good one thereafter.  You just have to stick to appointments so you don't get a bad tech.  I have had that unfortunate experience a couple of times now so I always schedule appointments with Minnie and get the best results Read Less

I just left here today after having a gel fill in & color. I had Tony, an older gentleman. We sat in silence almost the entire time, which personally I prefer rather than forcing small talk. He was very precise, professional & fast (without doing a half assed rush job). Honestly, the only "complaint" that I have is that he added a little bit of additional gel near the middle/tip areas & a couple of the nails look slightly wavy due to it. Is not even that bad, nor noticeable, but I'm being honest since it may bother other women. It's almost like slightly wet/warped cardboard. Anyway, I had my nails done because my new husband & I are leaving for our honeymoon in 2 days & I wanted to look nice, and I am content with the job he did considering the event. Came in with a friend for a pedicure. We decided on the princess pedicure which was very relaxing. Both of our nail techs were professional and did a great job. I have been using this salon for pedicures for about a year and a half now and I must say that it was went down hill since then. Before writing this I made sure to give them a few tries, as maybe some of my bad experiences were just flukes. I will start with the good: pedicure chairs in a separate and dim lighted area, a number of pedicure options which used to be reasonably priced. That's about it...The second to last time I came in here I brought my minor sister, we were seated next to each other but started 45 minutes apart, meaning my pedicure was done before hers even began. What's the point... When I brought this up to my nail tech he rudely stated that we should have called ahead. While this may be true they also should have waited to start me  if they knew that another nail tech wouldn't be available for 45 minutes. Onto the service, all the nail tech could do was rush with my feet I have never had such a half ass job done. He was talking about how he was going to catch his flight to the LA pride parade in one hour and did I notice his hastiness on my feet! Aside from these he was talking pretty inappropriately for there to be a minor in earshot. Not happy.The most recent time I have used this salon was today, and I'm sorry to say but it will probably be my last. I treated my mom and myself to pedicures. I immediately mention that we would like to be seated next to each other and started at the same time. The receptionist had a snarky remark about seating us next to each other until I pointed out that on my last visit they stared my sister 45 minutes after me. Well, I hate to say this but this time was even worse of a rush job! The nail tech was new and based off of her work seemed as thought she has never done a pedicure before. She rushed through the entire thing. By the end I had to point out to her I needed my flip flops on after she started painting. She then proceeds to put my flip flops on with my toes painted, thanks but no thanks. She slathered the polish on my nails so thick that even 2 hours afterwards they weren't dry. I now have freshly chipped and smeared toes the same day I had my service done. I will say my mom got a great pedicure from the nice young man doing her feet.City nails you need to improve on your customer service and quality of work. Your work is unacceptable for the price you charge. Lans Nails down the street does by far better quality service. Andy the salon manager does a great job on nails, however after a while you will get tired of waiting on him. He tries book himself too many appointments in a day.  I made appointments but he would take others ahead of me because I am very patient.  I finally just decided to not go back, it's a big city better service awaits me! I've been here several times and the only reason I keep going back is because I like the fact that they have their Pedicure chairs in a separate area with the relaxing music and dim lighting... however, I never did think they did an awesome job, but just ok and some of the techs are better than others. Anyway, last night I decide I need a pedi so I head over to this place, it was a little busy I ask how long the wait is, they tell me no wait, well I waited about 15 minutes. Anyway, this one nail tech came to greet me and I thought, oh no, not her.... I thought I had her before and didn't like the job she did, but anyway like I said they were busy so I just went with it... ( sorry don't know what her name was) so at the end of everything and before the polish I notice the nails on the left foot were much longer than the right, she didn't even trim the pinky toe nails at all, didn't file the nails on my right foot and started polishing, well I had to point all of this out to her and then she went back and half ass fixed it. I was just thinking at this point I just want to get out of here, so she polishes my nails, I go to the drying station (now in brighter lighting) I notice the shittiest polish job ever... some parts of some nails not even polished, polish on my skin, just horrible! So I get up and say umm I'm sorry but this polish job is terrible! The guy I was  talking to says, so what do you want me to do? Um I want this fixed, this is terrible! Ok, well she'll fix it now he says, he also added your standing here for 5 minutes talking to me when she could be fixing it... really?! I think his name is Andy and btw, he did a no chip on my a couple weeks ago, and it lasted about a week because he got the polish on my cuticles and it started lifting from there. So anyway, she had to leave the other client she was already working on to come and re-do the entire horrible polish job, ugh! It came out better than the first time she polished them but not a good job! I was so frustrated, just payed for my service minus a tip and left an unhappy customer... Nail shops are a dime a dozen so I will be looking for a new place to get my nails done and will not ever return to City Nails again! Oh and one more thing, maybe this nail tech needs glasses or something because as I'm getting my pedi, a girl that my nail tech had just finished doing a mani on came to the back and told her she missed a spot on her nails so the nail tech proceeded to just file it down, with the nail file that she was just filing my toenails with! Came here for the first time to get my eyebrows & upper lip waxed I was going away with my boyfriend  so I wanted to look good.the appearance of this place wasn't very cleanly but I was in a rush.they seat me immediately. Some girl who's name starts with K does my waxing.i think her name was Katie or something anyways point is she does a quick upper lip wax doesn't put any liquid on my upper lip after ward which I find weird. She sends me on my way.my eyebrows weren't looking special.no one noticed I had got them done but the real horror story was my upper lip.bumpzilla!!! It got irritated then I started feeling the bumps then the next day the bumps were clearly  vissible. yesterday i had my nails painted in shellac colour change , and i love the colour but my nails were painted poorly . i returned to the shop first thing this morning as i had paid $30 just for paint and asked them if they could fix it . the lady that served me said it was the acrylic on my nails causing the bumps but i told her these are my real nails and i have a little grown off acrylic at the bottom she then said "we dont care what our customers think once they leave the st...ore " i asked her to ring the boss so i could talk to her , she refused and said they are not allowed to call the boss on her day off . i showed other ladies in the store my nails and asked what they thought and 2 out of 3 agreed the other 1 didnt want to get involved . i was then threatened with security and security was rang and i was told by the shop assistant we dont help idiot customers and was then laughed at as i walked away angry with our any customer service at all . $30 for a paint job that looks like an 8 year old painted it is shocking ! i will never return and neither will my mother as we have our nails done together . Since the renovation of City Nails, it is amazing.  Although the only service I get from the Salon is the pedicures they are great.  If you go please get the Princess Pedicutre it is well worth the $30 charge. Read Less

Today was my first visit to this particular nail salon and i will say that i will not be going back...     My technician was somewhat professional, but i was not really a fan of the comments about my tattoos or his apparent dislike for the police.  he did do a good job with my services i received a spa pedicure (no razor, at my request) with a "rough" massage, cracking my toes is not a good thing for me.  The manicure was done okay also, but i was curious about the cleanliness of the tools.  And he had food at his station...       I realize that my total visit cost $27 and i know the price is low, but the inside appearance of the salon was not good at all.  After sitting in the chair and really looking at the place, i realized that it was in need of some updating.  the stations were poorly maintained and the floor was definitely dirty.  there was nail polish on everything.  And their makeshift drying area was in terrible need of a new coat of white paint.      The technicians that were there was all male and continually speaking Vietnamese and laughing.  it makes one think they are talking about you, the girl next to you or the elderly lady that has fallen asleep at the drying station.    I will pay a little extra next time to get my nails done.  Thank you for a great price, but they can keep it.
