I recently went to Tricoci for Valentine's Day for a 90 minute facial. I was serviced by Morgandy and she was amazing. The usual Tricoci experience is always cute and nice, I can't say that I have ever had a bad experience there. Morgandy thoroughly observed my skin and addressed my concerns. I could appreciate that she suggested the type of facial I should be looking for as opposed to having me just pick one. The facial was nothing short of pleasant. I have been seeing Tori for over a year for my hair color.  She is fantastic an always does a great job with my hair and really listens if I want to tweak anything. I think she does perfect color and bonus, she's so nice. I found her looking through the yelp reviews.  Since it worked with her, I decided to search for someone who is good with hair styling. My current girl gives me a very good cut, but don't love her styling. I felt Paige"s name came up often enough and with such excellent reviews that I took a leap of faith and scheduled a cut and style with her on the day of a big event I was attending.  As soon as she introduced her charming self and went over what I was looking to do with my hair, I felt confident I had made a good choice. This place sucks royaly. My husband bought $200 gift certificate for xmas I went and the spa was awesome but the hair salon was lousy. So lousy in fact that my overpriced perm didn't last a day when I raised concern about the laxidaisical maner that they were working on me I guess I offended the stylist. I've never been so disappointed and left with no other recourse than to leave a scathing review. I cannot believe this experience that this salon gave to my mother!!!  I got my mother a gift card for her birthday and she visited the salon in oak brook today.  My mother made her appointments for service and when she arrived she was given the run around to all of these different stations to check in.  She told me that she felt embarrassed due to the run arounds that she received and workers giving her looks when they realized that she'd wondered into wrong areas.  I called a manager and spoke to Nikki while my mom was still at the salon.  She apologized and assured me that she would take care of my mother.  At that time my mother had left the salon.  I asked my mom to return and allow Nikki to show her where she needed to go to have her next service.  My mother returned and spoke to Nikki who apologized to her.  My mother explained that she didn't want her scheduled service anymore and Nikki just said ok.  Thank you!  She never gave an effort.  Just an apology and expiation as to why she was given the run around. My friend went there to get her hair done. We went on a Sunday and they closed at 7pm. First of all the appointment was at 4:45 and the hair stylist didn’t inform us how long the process would take or any of the procedures for when they close. It’s now 7pm and my friend has her hair dripping wet and has to go blow dry her hair herself because there weren’t any stylists (cuz apparently all the stylists just drop what they are doing and leaves at close) , because God forbid the guy who colored her hair touches a blow dryer. The part that gets me is that the hair stylist leaves us and we basically are in the salon by ourselves. No one mentions how long we have or to hurry up. So for over 200 dollars you get a half done job, dripping wet hair, and having to do things yourself. Never coming back. They need to be a little more mature and not just leave their clients in the salon while they go start their car to go home, forgetting they have a job and are their to give the client a vip experience. I visited the Oakbrook location for the first time today. I was lucky enough to get Paige to cut and style my hair. Let me tell you, this girl is the best! I came in with some photos of what I wanted and she nailed it exactly. She was so fun to talk to, very sweet and funny! She is so knowledgeable in her field and is a very down to earth person. I wanted to take a moment to sing Kenny's praises.  I have been going to Kenny for years, he is the best hairdresser I've ever had.  He takes his time to listen to your wants and concerns and will provide honest feedback.  If you want your hair long he will trim it conservatively, I've gone to so many places where I advise the stylist I want my hair long and they just "trim the split ends" and it never grows past my shoulder.  My hair is past my shoulder with a layered style that makes me feel fabulous when I walk out of the Salon and Kenny has given me tips in how to style it on my own that works well in between visits.  If you are tired of the same hair cut and really want someone to cut your hair utilizing a hairstyle that really works for you I highly recommend Kenny. Super disappointed in the hairdresser that was given to me after asking for a curly hair specialist for a child's hair cut. Cassandra was not a curly hair expert at all.She left my child's hair a mess! I was no curly hair expert so i was looking to the stylist to know what to do. She did not wash or wet my child's hair before cutting and the result was unacceptable. I basically paid for her to mess up my child's hair. Once washed her hair was completely uneven and embarrassing. I took her to the Mario Tricoci university and received 10x better service, does that even make sense?!They took such great care in assessing the damage checking length and carefully wetting each section before cutting. I am so glad they saved her hair but disappointed it's way shorter than i wanted it. Had it been cut right the first time i wouldn't have had to go so short. I went yesterday for a pedi and a hair cut the pedi was great! the hair cut not so much. Worst experience just some advise clearly let people know where to park and which building to go to. I have never been there . I go . Park. Walking w a 2 year old. So let me preface this review by saying that I think Mario Tricoci probably has other great stylists and this is a review based on one experience with one stylist (which is why I gave 3 stars and not 1). This was my first time going here and I had made the appointment last minute because I was in desperate need of a haircut. Anyway...it is easy to find and parking was fine. The women at the desks were extremely friendly and welcoming. I was early, so I didn't mind waiting for my appointment time. When the appointment began I was quickly rushed to a seat. Mind you they have these simple shampoo and cuts scheduled for 45 minute slots. Anyway, she asked me what I wanted and I told her I wanted about 3 inches off with side bangs and angled toward my face. I then showed her a picture of my sisters new cut. She said ok and rushed through the shampoo, making idle small talk (I am not a huge talker so I don't mind the silence). Then we sat in the chair and she quickly cut my hair. She never angled the hair in and I just have one string of bangs now. She quickly combed and blow dried my hair. It laid completely flat and overall it was a very mediocre haircut. Not to mention she only spent 15 minutes TOTAL on my hair. Seriously, from the minute she came and got me to the minute she took off the smock thing it had been 15 minutes. I had waited longer. Once she was done she practically ran away from me and I had to run after to see where to pay! Like I said, I am sure this place has great stylists and they are very clean and welcoming. When I first came into Mario Tricoci at the Oakbrook location in Chicago my hair was not in the greatest of shape/health. It was long but had breakage. Becky started doing my hair color and Mandy started cutting and styling my hair. Mandy gave me some great styling and care tips. Becky did great job with my hair color and she knows what looks good with coloring.  Mandy brought my hair back to healthy status. I have relocated to San Diego but I fly back to Chicago to have my hair done by Becky and Mandy every 6 to 8 weeks. Both of these ladies are fantastic! Every time I leave the salon I get a lot of compliments on my hair, which from a girls perspective, is always nice to have. The style is also one that I can maintain myself. Ask for KHLOE!!! This location saved my hair from being a complete disaster. I came in with hair looking like a skunk (dark brown on top, bleach blonde half way down to the bottom) due to the Schaumburg location messing up my hair. I quickly made an appointment at the oak brook location. When I told the new stylist what happened, the manager came right to me. He asked for the story, pictures of before and after and told me they were going to fix everything. He brought over Khloe, my hair guardian angel, who worked on my hair for over 4 hours... FOUR hours, highlighting/lifting out the old brown color, lifting my roots, toning with 3 different toners, washing out dye... and all while being super sweet, kind, and realistic with me about what we could achieve with my hair being so messed up. Yesterday, I went to this salon and was deeply saddened by the poor service and lack of diversity displayed. As a person of color I felt disrespected . I went for a haircut with a junior stylist. I explained at the time of my appointment that I have ethnic hair and I'm transitioning into natural hair. I asked for someone who can handle my type of hair. Back track...Last year Dec I had done their Keratin full treatment and was offered to purchased Pureology product which I did.... Since then I've gone back twice for their continuum treatment and both times I've requested that they shampoo/conditioner my hair with this product which was allowed. About two weeks ago I had my hair colored at the Naperville location and forgot to remind the stylist to use the same product. After my wash I felt my hair and it was coarse, dry and unmanageable. I asked the stylist which product she used to wash my hair and she explained the Mario Tricoci brand. At this point I asked for the pureology split end salve which was handed to me and I applied; the product immediately made a difference. Today, when I asked Nick the manager that they shampoo my hair with this product he explained I have the option of purchasing this product or use their Mario Tricoci brand or Mizani. I said that I have no desire to purchase another range since I have this already at home. Granted it's $26 for the shampoo only. I also said perhaps they need to research their Mario Tricoci brand to suit ethnic hair. I continued that I have no desire to pay for a haircut, style and tip to go home and rewash. Nick, the manager explained that he can make no exception and are unable to help. At this point I told him I'll have to leave as their are other salons that can serve me. I've been coming to Matteo for years. I'm pretty simple, most of the time lightening my hair to a brown or red from a pure black. We have been through this so many times that Matteo knows exactly what to do to get it as light as possible and fitting my skin tone of course without damaging my hair so much.  He always makes sure I'm taken care of whether I need more water or coffee or if I'm comfortable. I first went to this location in oct and even before meeting my colorist MATTEO I just knew I was going to be in good hands (literally lol). I went from red to gray (I wanted the gray baliage) and he made extra sure to keep my hair healthy and shiny throughout the months. He wasn't pushy and just looking to get me out of his chair and moving on to the next person. I'm a complicated person always changing my mind and he was so patient with me. This is a review for their technique on full Brazilian waxes only.  I have been a client here for almost 15 years on and off for several services, and all have been stellar, except for these waxes for a few reasons. Number 1) They only allot 30 minutes for a full Brazilian wax. This means they will spread more wax over a larger area at a time, which causes hair breakage and stubble at the end of your wax. Aren't you there to get smooth? 2) Every technician I have seen for this treatment over the years has REFUSED to use hard wax on the "lower, most sensitive crevices."  This means oozy wax in places that hair doesn't even grow... and then being stripped off. Since this area is much more sensitive to high temperatures, I have been BURNED in these places. 3) The temperature of the wax is always too hot. Over the years, I thought these issues would be resolved, but they haven't. Please, please ladies, don't go there for this particular treatment. I highly recommend Laura at Lamaris Salon and Day Spa in Niles, IL. I know it's further, but she's totally worth the drive and rearranging my schedule. Read Less

I've done partial highlights (including blond and rose gold) and cuts (shorter and longer) with her for the last 5 years and it's always awesome. She is very detailed oriented and I appreciate the time she takes to get it right. My favorite part about Nicole is that she understands my ideas. Ron is a great owner and the area is beautiful.  He is kind and generous.  But some of his hair dressers should not be working for him.  Carrie M does a great job on color, but she does not listen to customers about style and cuts.  As a result, you come out looking like a freak. She also double books customers.  You can wait with wet hair for 38 minutes to have your hair cut and dried.  She will tell you "He is a very important customer"  Feel like chopped liver? Unethical superficial dump!If you're into the whole classy atmosphere, watching anneroxic chicks with strange hair that look like they belong in a Tim Burton movie walk around, or extremely metrosexual or gay men give attitude and nothing more.. then this would be for you.. Rude inconsiderate stylists, unethical managers, shady business practices, over priced & over profited dump this place truly is.My story goes, I was scheduled to have my hair colored at the Old Orchard location. I showed up on time, only to discover that my stylist went home for the night and NOBODY even bothered to contacted me because " it was a very busy day", according to management. Funny, when I got there there was only a handful of people but okay.. I asked to speak with the coloring manager ( orange hair chick), and she did not seem to care, and nobody else was available to do my hair, except some guy who had extremely much higher prices (75% higher to be exact) then what I am use to paying. It wasn't my fault that the stylist went home early so why do I get stuck paying for another stylist whose prices are significantly higher and Mario's wouldn't cover the difference. I left work early to sit in traffic to get there just to turn around and leave, again nobody cared, no compensation/gift card/complimentary service or nothing! I did contact their customer service hotline, and again nobody really cared, all you hear is " I'm sorry, that wasn't right of her, come back again and use someone else, thanks for calling". Click. Anyway, I wound up going to Hair Cuttery down the street and guess what they are a lot cheaper, and much more down to earth atmosphere. Nobody would ever even know the different either! I went for my 3rd highlight. I didn't request the same colorist as she did an (okay-good job) last time; I thought maybe I'd have a great job this time. WRONG. I have dark brunette hair (level 4) & wanted to maintain a highlight to about a 7R. I knew in the consultation she just wasn't getting it when all she asked me about was "so you want to go brighter" What the heck does that mean? Well, I found out the wrong way. She turned me into a blonde, which didn't look nice with my complexion. The foil must have leaked because I have blotchy spots.She put on 2 separate toner applications. It helped, but definitely NOT what I wanted for $175 later. I went to a family graduation party, and alot of people didn't even recognize me saying - You're blonde now". The staff is snobby and rude. The stylists are average at best. And as a bonus you get to blow out your own hair at a station after the cut and color. No matter what your new cut is they will not help you style it. The best part is that this blow out station is in the middle of a heavily walked isle so all eyes are on you and you are made to feel that you are in the way once they have rinsed you out. I came to see MAYA because my friend goes to her so she told me to give her a try... I have very hard hair to style and everywhere i went for a haircut they never teach me how to do it at home.. I have curly hair, and I wanted it trimmed and straightened. My hair curly is at my shoulders. My hair straight is down to the middle of my back (or so it was). They first put me with a guy who didn't even have a flat iron!!!! Bree straightened my hair, but as she was "trimming", she cut it up to my shoulders... ie. she whacked off 8 inches without even knowing!!! The next time I washed my hair, it was up to my chin!!! How could this happen to me at an upscale salon?!!! I pay extra money not for something fancy, but just so someone doesn't screw up a trim and straightening. This has happened to me multiple times, and I can't understand how people could not notice cutting off 8 to 10 inches off of someone's hair!!! This was by far the worst thing that has happened to my hair in my life! I hate the way I look right now.. .I have wires sticking out of my head in a halo, and there is nothing that I can do about it. Bree straightened my hair, but as she was ""trimming"", she cut it up to my shoulders... ie. she whacked off 8 inches without even knowing!!! The next time I washed my hair, it was up to my chin!!! How could this happen to me at an upscale salon?!!! I pay extra money not for something fancy, but just so someone doesn't screw up a trim and straightening. This has happened to me multiple times, and I can't understand how people could not notice cutting off 8 to 10 inches off of someone's hair!!! This was by far the worst thing that has happened to my hair in my life! I hate the way I look right now.. .I have wires sticking out of my head in a halo, and there is nothing that I can do about it. She first seemed to imply that I didn't tell ""Arielle"" that I got the more expensive Signature Massage and only paid for the Swedish Massage. AND THEN, she put me on hold forever, all the while it's ME ON HOLD FOREVER on the Saturday night, for me to make an additional payment. THIS GETS BETTER. In the end, through all that, after I gave her my AMEX card # after all this unpleasant experience, she said to me: ""YOU KNOW WHAT? I was in the salon a few weeks ago and i came across a great stylist maya. I have to tell you guys this was the best haircut i ever had in my life. When this women cuts your hair not only is she talented but she listens to your every word what works for you and what doesn't. Her haircuts last months you hair would grow out so well you wouldn't believe. She is sooo sweet and caring and dead on about the latest fashions. I love her and I love the salon now. I went to Mary Pat for a hair cut and I had a great experience. She was super nice and did a great job! I am requesting her every time I go there now. Plus she new a ton about the cubs which was great conversation. For all you guys out there looking for a good place to get a hair cut at a decent price, I recomend Mary Pat 100%. Plus you cant beat the location right on michigan ave and there is a really nice equinox fitness gym on the same floor so you can work out and get styled up without having to run all over town. I do not recommend this location at all. Most of the Mario's are bad but this location and Pheasant Run take the award for worst in the state. I could not believe how rude the girls at the reception desk were. One girl is supposed to be the manager named Brittany but she just gossiped and behaved rudely to people and then the real gem is Kyle who should probably smile and maybe people wouldn't be so mad at how rude and incompetent she is. My stylist Frankie was horrible. I thought these people go to training before they cut hair but I guess she did not. I thought after the receptionists were rude that it couldn't get worse but my ""stylist"" was worse. She even rolled her eyes when I was talking to her. I obviously didn't talk to her the rest of the cut and just felt like crying. She rushed my blowdry and it was not straight at all. The cut was so bad my husband started yelling at me for letting it happen. We had to pay another $50 bucks to get it redone at another salon. I moved to Naperville ten years ago. I was recommend to this salon by several people as ""a great hair cut"" but, ""you will pay a price"". I am use to paying $65 for a cut and $90 for a color, however I am use to having good customer service at those prices. My experience there was, it is much like a factory. The people who do the work are great in their field, thus the price is high. I was willing to bare the ""price"" of bad service until one day I had enough. The front desk treats you like dirt if you?re not sporting a huge diamond and designer cloths. The people who actually do the cutting and coloring are better but don't look for the traditional bonding while you get your cut and/or color. I left after 8 years of six to eight weeks of cuts and color because; the management seems to favor making money. In this economy I hope they change their management style. A friend gave me a gift certificate to try the salon again and I did within the last month. I was hoping the experience would have been better however?I still have not changed my mind. This place is ridiculous! I recently got highlights there. When I made the appointment the guy on the phone confirmed that the price was $90 for full highlights. However, when I checked out I was told it was 130.00 because prices START at 90.00 and they could not tell me why my highlights were now 40.00 more. My hair is shoulder length, so I'm not buying the excuse that the check out guy said about my hair being longer than most girls. This is just a way for them to rip people off! What really ticks me off about this place is that after my color service, I was passed to someone else who washed my hair and then sent to a SELF SERVE STATION with hair dryers for me to use! This is the worst salon/spa I've ever been to. I recently got a mani/pedi here by the rudest woman on the planet. It was so difficult making the appointment because you have to call their 800 number a wait forever for a appt. It does look like a factory outlet salon. The staff are so rude and unprofessional. The lady that did my mani wasn't even looking at what she was doing, she was more concerned with gossiping with her co-workers. And she kept coughing in my face! Who would have thought I could get such a great cut while on vacation from Seattle. My stylist was on vacation and unable to do my hair before I left, but I found Brandon whom I want to highly recommend! His style and flair for hair was FABULOUS! When I got back to my families house my mother and two adult sister were so jealous, they made their own appointments with Brandon. Each one having a very different style. My mother came back with a graduated bob and she looks ten years younger. I can't stress enough how amazing our new hair looks. I have natural curly hair and have a hard time finding someone who ""really"" knows what they are doing. i called and FRANKIE was recommended. i told them i wanted a consultation as it was my first time there. i was assured if i came in a little early for my appt i would be able to speak with the stylist, i came in early and she was late. she rushed, had no hair magazines(what kind of salon doesn't have hair magazines), she was so busy running her mouth and telling me how she knew what she was doing that she wasn't listening. she heard bits and pieces put it all together and i ended up with no hair after i told her i was GROWING MY HAIR and only wanted her to clean it up and shape it. NOT CUT IT ALL OFF. on top of cutting it all off it was an ugly mishapen haircut. she did it in like 5 min (NO SKILL). EVERYTHING i told her not to do she did. when i called back to see what could be done as that was a lot of money to throw down the drain (i had to go a few days later to a REAL stylist and get a REAL haircut) i was given the runaround,and told a manager would call me back. well it's been 10 weeks or so and i'm still waiting. now my hair is super short. My hair is very fine and I have sensative skin and I have never had any problems with the colors bothering my skin. And, the girl who cuts my hair does a great job. I went to Mario Tricoci for the first time in my life, looking forward to a great new style. I made the appointment on-line (very convenient) and chose first available stylist since I did not have a preference. I was greeted nicely and was told the stylist would be right with me. I waited 20 minutes, no one came so I went back up to the desk to inquire why. Well, the stylist I was suppose to get was cutting and styling someone elses hair. No other stylist was available. I was asked to wait, being told "she works fast". I told them this was not a very good first impression. Feeling very disappointed and a bit angry I decided it might be best if I leave. I didnt know that anybody could ever get a bad facial, but I did today. I checked in at the front desk and the lady just told me to go upstairs. She didnt tell me to go into the spa or anything so I waited outside in a very loud waiting room. Usually when I go to a spa, I am greeted with very nice people and asked to put on a robe or something. This was not the case... When it was time for the facial, I was taken back to a room and asked to get undressed from the waist up. After I got undressed she came in and starting making alot of noise (this was the person that was going to do my facial) . This was just really not relaxing. Next, I was laying there and she put this really bright light right in my eyes, and it was blinding. I ask her if I could remove it, because it was hurting and she didnt do anything. Then after analyzing my face, she tried to sell me their products and basically told me that my dermatologist was wrong in what she prescribed. After all of this the facial began. At first, I felt like she didnt know how to put lotion on my face, because it was really uncomfortable and by this time I wasn't enjoying the special gift that my husband had gotten for me for getting a new job. She took the first layer off and then starting squeezing my blackheads out. THIS HURT SOOOO BAD. I had to ask her to quit. I felt like she ripped off my nose at one point. After this, then everything started to get a little better. The massaging was nice, and I started relax except for the fact that I was right next to the bathroom. I would hear a toilet flushing every 2-3 minutes and people talking outside my room. I was getting so annoyed. Oh and the funny thing was that when I left, the receptionist asked me how it was and said OK (thats it). I guess now I know that OK is all they need to hear to feel good about their services. Yesterday, I had my hair highlighted and cut at the Oakbrook location. I simply love it! I cannot begin to tell you the number of compliments I have received from both women and men. Being a woman of color, I was skeptical about having my hair styled at a salon predominately for Caucasians. In fact, I called in advanced to request a stylist that had experience working with African American hair textures. Both of the women who styled and colored my hair were attentive, courteous, and enthusiastic about offering me a new look. Had to wait in chair for 10-12 minutes waiting for the stylist to arrive and cut my hair...no one offered me a magazine or coffee. No biggie...but when girl arrived she said she has been on break and ""I make sure I take my breaks - the day is too stressful otherwise"". Finally, I asked for bangs. I had an appointment for a 10 minute brow wax, I was told to go upstairs to check in, was checked in, and once I was taken in back I was immediately accosted by a woman telling me that my sleeping daughter was not welcome since I was in the ""quiet zone"". I recently relocated to Naperville from Southern California. I was worried about finding someone to color my hair. I used to go to extremely nice, high end salons in California. I went to Mario's and saw Gina. She did a better job than any of the high priced salons in California!!!!! She was an extremely nice person as well!!!!
