After many failed attempts to find the perfect salon in the metro east, I had to start traveling 30 miles to Clayton, MO to get my nails done. But that eventually becomes daunting so I decided to give one last nail salon a try. I couldn't have asked for better service at Tropical Nails Spa. My appointment was at 3:30 and they starting working on me right away. I would suggest you make an appointment no matter what services you are looking for. Very nice shop for manicure, pedicure, waxing, and acrylic/gels. Daughter's first full set of acrylics. Every person was nice except for the woman who put the nails on her. This place amazing! I've tried a bunch of different nail salons in the area and this is by far the best one. It's always super clean and the prices are affordable. I would definitely recommend always getting an appointment first because they stay very busy, and it's hit or miss on whether you're going to get a good person or not. I have been coming to this nail salon for 8 months. I wish I had discovered it earlier. I patronized another salon after moving back to the area over a year ago. While here, I experienced the same-old nail salon environment: walk-in, wait for the next technician--you better not hope that you want a specific person because he/she may be busy and receive fast, quality-lacking service. I love this place and the staff. It's clean and efficient. Every technician is good, really! They pride themselves on hiring people who understand it is not about cow-herding customers through the salon but providing quality service. You receive personal attention and hardly seem rushed to complete your requested service. With that said, is it best to make an appointment? YES, absolutely! It is a preference for the salon because, you can tell they want to offer friendly, professional and attentive service. This place is a perfect example of a nail SPA. It is inviting, comfortable, and relaxing. There aren't any kids running around (thank the Lord). And yes I have kids so I can say that lol. There is relaxing music playing in the background. The chairs and stations are modern. They always ask if you want something to drink. And they have wine AND wine glasses...which is important! I love the fact that they are majority appointment only. I know they accept walk-ins if available, but it feels good not having to sit and wait for a chair. Randy is my go to and he always keeps me happy. I tell him I won't give him a hard time but each time I do, don't blame me, I'm a woman. However, he manages to fulfill my requests each time.Shay has been picking out my colors and always has me leaving satisfied. This is my 3rd visit and I won't go anywhere else. Been there twice and will be going back.  Great service, love their use of an appointment system. An appt is NEEDED most days and I've seen several people get turned away without one, but I appreciate the punctuation not always found in nail salons.  Techs are really friendly and I love the matching gel/polish sets for the manicures and pedicures to match without the guessing game! I went to Tropical Nails Spa for the first time last week (June 1, 2017). The staff is friendly and the service is great! I have not had a manicure or pedicure in a while, since two of my favorite people were no longer working in the nail salon I frequented. They are working at Tropical Nail Spa! The environment is the perfect place to relax. It's clean and the decor is very nice. There is no loud talking or televisions blasting. After reading the reviews I decided to give the place a try. Upon my arrival (3:54 p.m.) I was greater and then asked what did I need. I replied a fill-in & a pedicure. The lady then says do you have an appointment ( i didn't ) so they proceed to tell me I don't have time to do that. Well that's fine, you've lost my business. This salon is really clean and spacious. The layout is nice because on one side of the wall is the pedicure chairs and then the other side is the tables for manicures. You don't feel like you are on top of one of another in the salon. The salon techs are great. I have never had someone that I didn't like. The prices are comparable to other salons. The nice thing is after your service you can get the time in the massage chair with a paraffin treatment. You need to make sure you make an appointment to get in. Read Less

Nice shop, nice furniture and visually appealing. Two flat screens showing ocean scenes and babbling brooks etc. with instrumental music playing...I was offered water or wine, I live in L.A. And have never seen wine served...I had a basic pedicure (there are several to choose from) and had orange slices rubbed in my legs and the juice as well...The staff were friendly, talked and joked with clients which I liked...The pedicure was relaxing and done well I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied. The shop is very well done.  I have been there three times.  I think they would benefit from some customer service training.  They aren't rude or unkind.  It's just that they don't offer direction very well or provide information to the customer.  I had to ask about the massage and paraffin that I was paying for.  It may be a language issue but service to the paying customer should be a priority. Maybe today was an off day for the salon. I was less than thrilled with the treatment from the "receptionist" person. No one checked my nails for dryness after I sat under the drying light for about 15 minutes. I thought I'd go ahead and get my eyebrows waxed in hopes that that would have encouraged someone to say "this is next". But I inquired about where to go next, which was a mix of asking and hand gestures since the tone in the salon was mute. Finally, when my massage in the chair was complete, I caught my lady's eye and I asked to get out. I'd never had paraffin put on my feet in bags. These bags with my feet in them were then placed into the massage chair's foot massage area. So, I was unsure as to how to remove myself from this potentially messy situation. My lady has to ask the receptionist twice to go see me, first she acknowledged her then went back to her cellphone. My lady asked her again, she then took off the bags/paraffin off my feet, for which she seemed irritated to do. She helped me up but there was still lots of wax on my feet. She left me and got me a dry wash cloth stating that she didn't want me to fall with slippery feet. I had so much wax still on my feet that my lady finally came over to help me. I had wax/greasiness even on my pants. My lady then asked me to wait there. She went into the back and came out to tell me it was only $35 even though I also had my eyebrows done. At that point, my lady just kept apologizing. I appreciate the discount but I really wish the end of my appointment was better and my pants weren't ruined. I may try this place later.
