I love going to Refinery Salon. The atmosphere has some hustle and bustle but it's never so busy that I find it overwhelming or neglected. It's a fun place. And Jaclyn, who has done my hair several times now, is fantastic! I have had a lot of hair loss recently and she has been really patient working with me to get my hair just how I like it, and has also answered so many questions about different cuts and extensions. I had my first appointment with Jaclyn at Refinery Salon today. The ease of booking my appointment online was very appealing. I had a consultation with Jaclyn where she asked good questions and made sure she understood what I wanted. I wanted a sombre and a trim. She worked well with my natural wave and gave an amazing shampoo/scalp massage. Jaclyn wasn't chatty, which was a different experience. However, she responded kindly and thoroughly to all of my questions about products and tips for styling and problem areas. I'm very happy with the results and will be back. I am so happy I found this salon. From the first visit, I was impressed. Alex does an amazing job on my hair. She's a perfectionist who is not afraid to ask her fellow stylists their opinions if she needs to. Everyone seems to help everyone out and there is a no tipping policy. In addition to being a full service salon they have a boutique full  of original gift ideas, clothing,  jewelery, etc.. You just feel good coming here so if you're looking for a new place to go, I highly recommend The Refinery Salon and Alex as your stylist! Read Less

Tonight was my first time getting my hair done with Maxine! She did an absolutely AMAZING job with my color. I am very picky and have hair that tends to pull very brassy undertones. Maxine had me share ideas of what I had in mind, but also she pulled out the color chart and we went through the color chart together. Needless to say my hair turned out beautiful, and it looks very natural. Maxine is also very professional and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great stylist. Finding a new hair stylist is tough, especially in a new area. I tried Refinery Salon for my hair color/cut in August based upon recommendations and reviews. It went great! Tyler listened to what I wanted and did a great job!!! He also helped me find the right shampoo/conditioner to extend the life of my color & keep my hair healthy. (I meant to submit this sooner, but life has been busy). It's cool that they have a no tip policy, as it makes me feel a little more at ease. And their services are well-worth the cost. Read Less

Was looking for recommended hair salon around the area and this place was closest to home and had great reviews! Went in person to book an appointment and it was a breeze. They will send you a confirmation/reminder to your email as well as a text on your phone. The whole salon has an inviting feel to me. Products are displayed neatly and salon has good clean deco all around it. I had Alex as my assigned hairstylist. She was really great and friendly! I normally would always let the hairstylist do whatever that's best as long as it fits the frame of my face. And she didn't disappoint!!! My hair feels way much lighter than when I went in. I didn't feel like I was rushed and she took the time to asked me if I wanted to trim my hair a little more and if I was comfortable with the length that she has done. Alex was really accommodating to my 18 month old daughter who was with me the entire time. Would definitely recommend her to fellow Yelpers!!Please note that they have a no tipping policy and I urge you to take some time to write a review if you feel that you have an awesome experience like mine! I have thick curly hair and had trouble finding someone who could cut and style it. Whitney has been cutting, coloring and styling my hair now for 15 years and I wouldn't trade her for anyone. I have been getting my haircut and color by Tyler for little over a year now. I love how my hair looks and feels after each visit. Tyler knows exactly how I want my hair to look and he does great job!! I also love the retail items Refinery Salon has at waiting area. Refinery salon's no tipping policy show that the stylists genuinely want to give good client service and not driven by tips!! The color products the salon uses are harsh chemical free so I feel my hair doesn't get damaged as much. I have not tried their other services (nail care, hair removal, etc. yet.  4.5 star salon. I have lived in the area for a few years and struggled to find a salon that I really trusted. Previous salon experiences felt rushed and never did I walk out feeling like I got what I was anticipating for. Maxine Jose is phenomenal! After living in Fairview Heights for almost 2 years and making many trips across the river, I finally found my hair place!! Refinery Salon is phenomenal. I love their decorations, their customer service, and product selection. I saw Tyler on my first trip for a complicated color correction. Not only is she extremely skilled and knowledgeable, but she takes the time to truly listen to what you want and make it a reality - and she takes the time to pull up different pictures just for you to make sure she knows exactly what you want. After going to the same stylist for the last 6 years, a move across country forced me to find someone new. (Thank you Air Force.) I was so nervous because I can be very picky about my hair which drives me nuts, but seriously your head can make or break your entire look. I finally decided on Refinery based on the reviews, and I was intrigued by the no tipping policy. Basically all the stylists get paid a salary based on experience so your experience is exactly the same every time, you can see someone else if you're broke one month, and you can expect the same service. There is absolutely no cattiness between the girls. So my appointment was with Rae, she's a platinum stylist. Best of the best. I have mid back length very thick hair. It's dark brown, and I've been rocking bleached peek-a-boos for the last 5 or 6 years. I decided to brave it and try something new, so we did an ombré bayalage (not sure how to spell that...). I kept the length, added some long layers and trimmed my side bangs. Of course we wanted to go the least damaging route, so we kept the peekaboos and lightened the ends. Obviously it's not going to be as light as j wanted it, it's a process and takes a few times. I was over all happy however when I got home, it only got more and more orange to the point that it seemed fire red. It was awful, so I called up Rae, she she got me back in the next day for the second process and didn't charge me a penny! I couldn't believe it. It wasn't a mistake she had made, but she knew how much it didn't like the orange so she took care of it. She said "girl you just paid me $200 two days ago, I'm not charging you." Amazing. I'm a starving nursing school student (ok, not starving), so I was so grateful to her at that moment. She took care of the orange and I couldn't be happier. Rae is such a sweetheart, super spunky and very profession and confident. Another words she knows her sh**. I'm happy to say I have found my girl. At least until the next time the military decides to move us. :) I absolutely recommend Refinery Salon. The salon is super cute and all of the girls work side by side and really seem to know their stuff, regardless of experience. Read Less

I could not be more happy or impressed with my appointment at Refinery. I made my appointment online and was only able to select the highlights. When arriving I asked if I could also have my hair trimmed, and Dani squeezed in a cut with my color. I walked in with a pretty broad idea of what I wanted and Dani helped me narrow it down.  Everyone was very helpful and nice. I have been trying different places since moving to the area and Refinery Salon is where I will stay!Additional pros:* There is a no tipping policy here and they are serious when they say they do not expect you to tip.* The prices aren't outrageous like some of the other salons in the Belleville area.* They don't shove products down your throat.* They gave me great advice on products for my boyfriend as well. 4-5 stars! This salon is clean and concerned about customer needs. I liked going here until my hair lady moved away. She referred me to another girl in the shop who, when I called, was not taking new clients. The guy on the phone was originally not helpful in booking another appointment. I ending up going somewhere else.  Later, I was contacted personally for my appointment needs and apologized to!
