I booked an all over color here 10 months after I got a gift card from my SIL for my baby shower...Pros:  1). Ease of scheduling - I was able to make an appointment for 2 days later at the time I was looking at.2). I wear a headscarf and, before I even mentioned anything, my colorist Rachel asked if I wanted a divider and to be taken care of in the back away from any men.  She blew me away!  In the past, at other locations, I've had to explain my situation, usually get dirty looks, and then the entire time I am getting my hair done, other hairstylists would ask my stylist why she was doing my hair in the back.  It was always very awkward.Cons:1). Price - I was quoted $50 over the phone for an all over color.  When I came in, Rachel told me it would be $75 because of the type of color I wanted (dark burgundy with low ammonia due to me still nursing my baby).  A little steep...2). The color, although it looked good in the salon, quickly washed out a day later, and it kind of looks like I didn't even get anything done.  Rachel had mentioned that I should purchase their special shampoo to keep my color longer...but I didn't expect it to wash out this quick.3). Not happy..my firsr visit to MT ever. I had a full set of acrylic nails and they look horrible. The nails are uneven and all different shapes. They upcharge $23 for gel polish! I actually cant believe I have to go back...one already broke off and I have to have the bumps smoothed out. Hopefully, they can be filed to one length and shape. This really shouldn't be an issues for $96!!! I could of went to the mall and paid $40  and they would of looked better. Calling tomorrow to see if they can get fixed...2nd review to follow soon. i have been going to Mario's for over 15 years - and so has my daughter.  They did our color and cuts forever.  Karli did our makeup (yes she's amazing) and Juan did the updo's... and Jessie and Kodi did our color...  Jump 15 years - and all but Karli are left...  and... now I got my color done by a new colorist..  Turns out - I spent almost $200...and was charged for full color highlights and got only a partial.  I tried to reach the Regional manager - i sent pictures of my hair in detail..They wanted me to come in- but I was out of town..and had to get my hair colored... The pictures - although highly detailed were not enough for them - a customer of over 15 yearsI tried to reach the Regional for months and I even went in there and got an eyebrow wax, a cut by someone random, and product because my husband bought me a $150 gift certificate since he thought I still went there..but I wouldn't get my color there again.  I left a message for the Regional again - personally when I was there.  I even talked to a manager there to ask her to contact me about this...AGAIN - ignoredSo - I was ripped off in a bad way - and I tried to get it rectified for almost 6 months - and I was ignored.If you go there - CHECK your hair to make sure they do what they charge you for... CHECK their prices or stay with the person who has done your hair forever..but buyer beware...don't get ripped off by me..then subsequently ignored by their top management... I moved to the SW suburbs a few months ago, and my old stylist lived too far. I knew someone who worked here and had my color done. The first time my hair turned out great (however, not worth the money.) I went back a few months later for a touch up, and as I was sitting under the dryer, my head felt like it was on fire. Literally I thought my head on actually on fire. To make a long story short, the colorist gave me a chemical burn (I will not name the person) and I now have a permanent bald spot. By the way, I still had to pay for my services even though I was clearly in severe pain, I could not even get my hair styled. This service was done in September 2017, is it now January 2018 and I do not have any hair growth. Luckily I have very think and long hair, otherwise I would take matters further. If you would like your hair to break off on the crown of your head three inches from your scalp, then go to this salon. I was having my hair bleached and toned here for several months. At first there were no issues. I used recommended shampoo and conditioners and used a heat protectant even thought I never used a flat iron or curling iron. After the last time I had it colored there it began to break off and has not stopped since. I would NEVER recommend any go here to have their hair colored. The damage is unreal and it keeps breaking even after changing salons and having Olaplex treatments done on it. Read Less

stay away and spend your money elsewhere. All the hype about highly trained and skilled stylists is just that HYPE not rooted in reality. My stylist really didn't know how to cut short hair and tried to figure it out as she went along. Totally botched it! It's a good thing hair grows back eventually! Really as I looked at all the hair walking out the door it was pretty mediocre at best plus I saw one that was way worse than mine.i should have left right then. This is my 3rd visit to Mario Tricoci's Naperville location and it never disappoints. Cassandra took care of my color and did a wonderful job, as usual. Rickey Anthony cut my hair for the first time and gave me the BEST blowout I have ever had in my life. I have lived in Manhattan and downtown Chicago where I would get at least a blow out a week- nobody comes close to Rickey Anthony. I have been to charlotte, the massage therapist at oak brook several times and have been meaning to leave her a review because she truly deserves it! She is amazing at what she does and I highly recommend her to anyone! I have a high stress career, and tension builds up in my neck/back often. After I leave, I feel so relaxed and free of pain! I have searched so long to find someone that really knows how to work the knots out and relax me while doing so- and she totally does this every single time. Got a full highlight by Lacey and was charged 30$ more than I was supposed to. I figured it was an honest mistake so I called to let them know what happened and I was told there was no mistake. I got hustled! I was never told I was being charged more then 90$ for the highlight. I did agree to the 35$ continuum add on and right after that another stylist walked up to my hair tech and said nice job your only 800$ away from your goal. How unprofessional!!!!!! I booked online for a roots appointment and a cut/style. But when I got there, they did my cut/style first then my roots. I was confused as to why they were doing it in this order, but it was my first time there and I figured they were the experts. After my color was finished, they sent me home with wet hair even though I paid for a style. Everything was done in the wrong order, so I felt cheated out of my money and hair style. Metaphorically, It would be like going into the dry cleaners and having your clothes dried first, then washed and handed back to you. It didn't make sense. When I talked to the manager, he basically told me it was my fault for booking online. He offered no money back, coupon, or even apology. The actual experience in the salon was not great either. Each of my stylists were nice and pleasant, but I felt very rushed and the front desk was not friendly at all. I paid $180 to get my roots done and a simple cut. The hair looked decent afterwards, but I could have gotten the same results with better service for half the price elsewhere. I had an appointment with a colorist who did a terrible job on my color, didn't even look like I got anything done. Trinity called me to make up for the bad service, booked me for a color and blow out, I show up on the day of the appt, and my appt is not on their books. The little blonde girl was apologetic, but not trying to resolve anything. Asked me if I wanted to book an appt for later in the day, no, I have plans. I won't be back, and I'm calling Trinity to give her a piece of my mind. I'm so upset right now. I can't stand poor customer service. We pay good money only to be treated  this way. Ask for KHLOE!!! This location saved my hair from being a complete disaster. I came in with hair looking like a skunk (dark brown on top, bleach blonde half way down to the bottom) due to the Schaumburg location messing up my hair. I quickly made an appointment at the oak brook location. When I told the new stylist what happened, the manager came right to me. He asked for the story, pictures of before and after and told me they were going to fix everything. He brought over Khloe, my hair guardian angel, who worked on my hair for over 4 hours... FOUR hours, highlighting/lifting out the old brown color, lifting my roots, toning with 3 different toners, washing out dye... and all while being super sweet, kind, and realistic with me about what we could achieve with my hair being so messed up. Khloe worked her magic and my hair turned out wonderful. No skunk hair, no orange/ brassy blonde, no blunt change of colors in my hair. I've been coming to Matteo for years. I'm pretty simple, most of the time lightening my hair to a brown or red from a pure black. We have been through this so many times that Matteo knows exactly what to do to get it as light as possible and fitting my skin tone of course without damaging my hair so much.  He always makes sure I'm taken care of whether I need more water or coffee or if I'm comfortable. The salon is overall a great atmosphere with friendly faces and smiles as well as being clean and tidy. The service and results are well worth the prices! Read Less

This is a review for their technique on full Brazilian waxes only.  I have been a client here for almost 15 years on and off for several services, and all have been stellar, except for these waxes for a few reasons. Number 1) They only allot 30 minutes for a full Brazilian wax. This means they will spread more wax over a larger area at a time, which causes hair breakage and stubble at the end of your wax. Aren't you there to get smooth? 2) Every technician I have seen for this treatment over the years has REFUSED to use hard wax on the "lower, most sensitive crevices."  This means oozy wax in places that hair doesn't even grow... and then being stripped off. Since this area is much more sensitive to high temperatures, I have been BURNED in these places. 3) The temperature of the wax is always too hot. Over the years, I thought these issues would be resolved, but they haven't. Please, please ladies, don't go there for this particular treatment. I highly recommend Laura at Lamaris Salon and Day Spa in Niles, IL. I know it's further, but she's totally worth the drive and rearranging my schedule. Read Less

I've been going here for years!  I get hair colored, cut and waxing, facial and massage services.  I also love their Mario hairspray!!  My only complaint is that I pay a lot of money to get my hair colored and if I don't have a cut afterwards, I have to dry/style my own hair.  For an upscale salon charging what they charge they shouldn't charge you more to have your hair dry and styled when you leave.  They should want you looking your best by their stylists. I don't usually get my hair cut from salons cus the price is to high for a cut I never like. But I did try this place because I had a coupon and had Valarie cut my hair. It seemed effortless for her and I ended up with a beautiful hair cut and blow dry. She did a wonderful job and even without the coupon it still would have been a very affordable price. My daughters and I have visited this salon on many occasions for many services; manicures, pedicures, waxing, haircuts, night out hair, highlights and crayon color.  We have always been greeted promptly upon entering and offered robes for hair/styling appointments.  Additionally, we've always been treated very well.  Complementary beverages are offered (hot chocolate, hot tea, water, lemonade) and the spa area has complementary fruit and biscotti.  We have been very pleased with all the services we have received at this location.  Some of the stylists do try to upsell products, but a lot of places do.  You can get cheaper mani-pedi's at other places.  However, at MT the tools used come in the sterilized packages for customer assurance that hygiene and safety protocols are followed.  I've also personally watched the nail technicians sanitizing the massaging foot baths after clients finish.  I'd much rather pay for the quality and assurance that I'm not getting an infection.  As for manicures chipping, I usually opt for the gel or chip-free to keep my mani longer and haven't had issues with pedicures chipping.  I have always found the atmosphere to be nice, but unpretentious.  Average women getting normal services in a pleasant setting.  The ability to book my own appointments online and the availability of salon services on Sunday make MT the one for us! I've only gone to Mario's for massage and manicures, so that is all my review covers. 1. Lesya (Lisa) for massage is fantastic. I've been seeing her for years and highly recommend her. 2. The manicure isn't worth the money. After last visit a few days ago, polish has little bumps all over them (all except for one nail, which was done with a different top coat) and cuticles weren't trimmed very much. This is disappointing for the price, and there is nothing special about this mani.Honestly, you can get a much better manicure down the street for much less money at a strip mall nail salon. What a horrible experience! I called their main number to make an appointment. The girl on the phone gets frazzled (it is complicated...that's true. 3 different appointments). She hangs up on me. I call back. Next person, gets it and figures out how to make it work. I show up day of appointments. They've all been cancelled!?! What? They're trying to figure it out. I have all the confirmation emails. Show them. They claim the system shows the appointments as cancelled. Wow, what horrible organization. The stylists are great but the should go work for a competent organization. Turns out they can't fit me in and the manager isn't able to do anything. Wow! Be careful making an appointment. My thin, fine hair has shallow roots, easily split ends and 2 different growth patterns - the front half is poker straight and thin, the back is curly/ frizzy...weird!  Thanks to talented stylist Marley and talented colorist, Gina, my wayward hair is well styled and stays so for 3 months or so with little daily upkeep.**** I give Marley and Gina 5 ***** STARS! The 3 star rating is because the spa and make up consultation was so disappointing. MAKE UP: Cosmetic fashions used for 20's & 30 year olds appear harsh and aging on mature faces. The cosmetologist kept me facing away from the mirror, kept up a relentless sales patter alternating with comments like"we don't get paid much". " We make our money from sales commissions", " Its so hard making ends meet" etc.  She ignored my request to keep the look natural, and instructions regarding sensitive skin and topical fragrance allergies, saying her products were clean and mild.  I wanted a simple make over... was horrified when she turned me to face the mirror. My eyebrows and lips looked like they'd been colored in with magic markers. My skin had an unnatural chalky pallor caused by mineral powder applied over rosy clown cheeks. It was a bad joke, the effect was lurid and theatrical. The cosmetics triggered my usual allergic response and my skin began to puff up and burn. Once in the car, I removed as much lip and eyebrow color as possible, wore sunglasses home. My husband was angry I'd paid them to do this to me.SPAMassage services: My session is a demo for expensive products and services. The facial was $ considering it did nothing but cause swelling & redness for 1 day before returning to normal.    GRATUITIES AND COMMISSIONS FOR SELLING PRODUCT:My spa & make over was a birthday gift that was wasted because I had to sit through non stop sale patter and shameless hints for tips.The relentless sales pitch and hints for tips made by the massage therapist and cosmetologist  were inappropriate. Tips are given for good service - both women gushed about my appearance then stuck their hands out, palm up, for their tip. They actually stood  shoulder to shoulder blocking the way out of the chair area, wide closed mouth smiles on their faces. Yes, I tipped both massage therapist and cosmetologist 10% of the total package, but only they do need to make a living and I had no doubt they were trying their best.TAKE HEED:  one glance in the mirror and the guilty expressions on the faces of employees taking my payment upfront was MORTIFYING. I love this salon! It's located inside Yorktown mall, next to Gloria Jeans and across from the Food Court on the 2nd Floor. Robyn is my colorist. I came in with orange hair and she made my hair beautiful with highlights and low lights. Laura is my stylist. I brought in a picture from Pinterest as an example of a style that I wanted and she cut it exactly like the picture. Recent Men's Haircut with Leslie. I had a 3pm appointment and ended up sitting in the waiting area for roughly 30 minutes. Typically I am offered a warm towel or a refreshment but this location did not offer me anything. I have been getting my haircut at Mario Tricoci Oakbrook for quite some time but decided to give this location a shot since it was closer to me. My haircut was rushed and the stylist used clippers for the majority of my cut which made me feel as if I was better off paying 10 bucks at a local super cutes or great clips. I would suggest you drive a few miles down the road to the Mario in Oakbrook. This location is quite small and located near the food court inside the mall. Read Less

I would highly recommend this salon.  I went for a cut because I had scheduling issues with my regular stylist.  I was able to get a same day appointment at the time I needed.  The were ready for me at my appointment time - no waiting.  They were friendly, courteous and salon was very sleek and clean.  I had stylist Helen, who was great and I would highly recommend!   She took time to talk about the style I wanted and did exactly what I asked.  My hair turned out great!  I am very happy.  I was concerned about critical comments about my hair from the stylist-and received none - no bad mouthing because I normally go elsewhere.  I felt I received a great cut, style, service and would definitely recommend it. Not good at all.  I called for a wavy/curly, hair down-do.  They told me I could get that done with wash and blow out.  Perfect I said and I came with unwashed hair. When I got there they told me what i wanted was actually special occasion and more money than they told me over the phone (in my opinion - that was their error), but I went with it.  Deborah (who was very nice) said I did not need my hair washed, and proceeded to spend less than 25 min  on my hair.  It was matted down, and fell out in less than an hour. I called to talk to someone about my hair - and i was redirected to 3 different people, then disconnected (or hung up on). Worst waste of $70 I've ever spent.  I had gone to an Aveda salon the week prior and my hair looked FAR better, for a better price.Go elsewhere. Read Less

Deborah for the cut and amazing blow out, Colette for the beautiful color. If there were an additional 5 stars and then some, I could handover to these ladies at Mario in Yorktown, I would!! I've been a customer for the last 5 years and these two super talented ladies perform with such skill, compliments pour from complete strangers in the mall, from the time I step away from the shop. I swear by their craft in making my hair compliment worthy and easy to work with until the next cut (up to 5 months later when I was out of State). My mom's hair is more a mop of afghan hound like hair than human hair, ultra thick, unruly, BIG and wavy, while mine is poker straight and so many moons thinner than hers. Yet when we leave Mario after Deborah and Colette perform their magic, our hair looks and feels exactly how we want it to. Plus, the style and blowout lasts for a full week, even when we caught in a light rain sans umbrella.  What I love best about Mario - Yorktown is that the stylists (Deborah is my favorite although, I've seen beautiful work from Helen, etc.) take their work seriously and Colette is not only an expert in color, she's a veteran in knowing how to mix chemicals to enhance the color and health of your hair, not to mask what you want covered over. The whole experience - from the bottomless cups of delicious hot tea with numerous choices to choose from, to the great conversations with Deborah, Colette and staff, to the current magazines to read while conditioner or color is cooking, I couldn't think of any way to be more relaxed and simultaneously entertained. Whether you know what you want or haven't a clue, these ladies will send you off with an absolutely gorgeous mane!  One bit of caution...decide ahead of your visit to the shop, how much you would like to tip. When you're overjoyed by the style and condition of your hair, you're bound to empty your entire wallet without a thought to the amount of greenbacks you're handing to these wonderful ladies.While not cheap, you definitely get what you pay for. A five-star haircut in a two-star mall.  I was desperate while attending a convention nearby for something--ANYTHING--to be done to my 3-month old haircut that was unmanageable.  I was a light-year from my beloved stylist Fran at the 900 N. Michigan Mario Tricoci location.Alex was one of the most professional stylists I've had in many years of going to Mario Tricoci.  She was very careful about asking the right questions--the style, length, cut, things to avoid, etc.  She immediately noticed my "problem" areas--the cowlick that looks like a hurricane if it gets too short, the top that needs more length than the rest.  I've never felt at ease with someone who hasn't done my hair before as I was with Alex.Don't let her highlights and mini-Amy Winehouse hair worry you.  She was absolute perfection with my conservative style haircut.  Can she do up-dos and bridal?  I haven't the foggiest, but Alex really made my mop of hair fantastic.  Is she consistent?  I have no idea, but I get the feeling she's a level-headed young lady who will do great in her career.  Brava. I have always had a great experience at this location. Recently I've been seeing Alex for haircuts and she always does a great job. Lately I've been dying my hair Bright red myself using Manic Panic and then I have Alex give me a sort of chin bob cut. I was so excited the first time she cut my hair bc she had some purple in her own hair so I didn't feel as bad that washing/cutting my hair might tint her hands a little pink for the day. Also she really did listen to me about how short I wanted it. Oddly enough I would always get a stylist that was too scared to take off what I wanted despite MANY reassurances that I wasn't gonna freak out and cry or anything. Personally I never saw much value in getting 1/4 inch cut. Your hairstylist recommending a cut that compliments your features and face shape so why (especially when going to a higher end place) not at least listen to what your stylist suggests. If you don't at least hear their ideas you are wasting the most valuable part of the whole service! Alex is great though and I think I may even try to get an appointment today! (another great part about this salon) I can normally get an appointment same day! I did not have any issues with the staff but I went in for a quick last minute blow out and for the price I felt it was disappointing. I have a shoulder length layered slightly angled bob. I get a lot of blowouts and I have gotten them at both high end salons as well as chain salons. For the price I paid here, it was disappointing. I asked for body and a feathered look. My hair was dried and looked very straight instead of the waves I asked for. That aside, it smelled like it was burnt. However, I cannot say enough that the staff were very friendly and personable and they did allow me to walk in and make and appointment. I agree with the other reviewers on here.  I had to keep trying different stylists until I found one who did a good job and had a good personality.  Deborah was the first stylist who cut my hair, and it was so annoying how she was just trying to sell products to me the whole time and she was borderline rude, but she did a great job on my hair.  The next stylist I tried was super-rude, she kept telling me that I must not use good product because my hair is not healthy (totally un-true), all she was interested in was selling me product, the rest of the time she didn't talk to me and seemed completely uninterested in doing my hair, but she did an OK job.  The third stylist was super friendly, but I wasn't as happy with that hair cut.  I finally found Lilia, and I'm so happy.  She's really nice, doesn't try to push product on me, and does a great job. Can somebody tell me why people think this is the place to go, if you want to get your hair done? I went to this place just because I was close by. The receptionist was so rude. The so-call stylist doesn't know the difference between 2" and 5". I asked her to trim my hair only 2", and she cut a lot more than I wanted. Unethical superficial dump!If you're into the whole classy atmosphere, watching anneroxic chicks with strange hair that look like they belong in a Tim Burton movie walk around, or extremely metrosexual or gay men give attitude and nothing more.. then this would be for you.. Rude inconsiderate stylists, unethical managers, shady business practices, over priced & over profited dump this place truly is.My story goes, I was scheduled to have my hair colored at the Old Orchard location. I showed up on time, only to discover that my stylist went home for the night and NOBODY even bothered to contacted me because " it was a very busy day", according to management. Funny, when I got there there was only a handful of people but okay.. I asked to speak with the coloring manager ( orange hair chick), and she did not seem to care, and nobody else was available to do my hair, except some guy who had extremely much higher prices (75% higher to be exact) then what I am use to paying. It wasn't my fault that the stylist went home early so why do I get stuck paying for another stylist whose prices are significantly higher and Mario's wouldn't cover the difference. I left work early to sit in traffic to get there just to turn around and leave, again nobody cared, no compensation/gift card/complimentary service or nothing! I did contact their customer service hotline, and again nobody really cared, all you hear is " I'm sorry, that wasn't right of her, come back again and use someone else, thanks for calling". Click. Anyway, I wound up going to Hair Cuttery down the street and guess what they are a lot cheaper, and much more down to earth atmosphere. Nobody would ever even know the different either! I went for my 3rd highlight. I didn't request the same colorist as she did an (okay-good job) last time; I thought maybe I'd have a great job this time. WRONG. I have dark brunette hair (level 4) & wanted to maintain a highlight to about a 7R. I knew in the consultation she just wasn't getting it when all she asked me about was "so you want to go brighter" What the heck does that mean? Well, I found out the wrong way. She turned me into a blonde, which didn't look nice with my complexion. The foil must have leaked because I have blotchy spots.She put on 2 separate toner applications. It helped, but definitely NOT what I wanted for $175 later. I went to a family graduation party, and alot of people didn't even recognize me saying - You're blonde now". My response was - not by choice. I was suppose to go back, but with my busy schedule in the past 4 weeks, I haven't been able to.Sorry to say - this wasn't a good experience. Read Less

I had a really good experience here! It was my first haircut in a long time and I was in desperate need of getting my hair cut.  When you walk in, they greet you and give you a black robe like garmet to wear and ask if you want anything to drink.My hair stylist, Dayna, was awesome!  We first began discussing what I wanted to do with my hair and she really listened to what I wanted and gave me some suggesions.  After I figured out what I wanted, I got my hair shampooed and ready to go.  She was really nice and professional during the hair cut and actually explained to me what she was doing.  She styled my hair and it looked GREAT!  Seriously, it was the BEST haircut I have ever gotten.  In case your wondering, I got my hair layered with a side swept ban...so cute :)  I will definently be back to see Dayna!  She is great.  The haircut was $55 but because she did an amazing job, I tipped her $20.  If you ever need a haircut, make sure to schedule an appointment with Dayna.I posted a pic of my haircut just in case any of you wanted to see! The staff is snobby and rude. The stylists are average at best. And as a bonus you get to blow out your own hair at a station after the cut and color. No matter what your new cut is they will not help you style it. The best part is that this blow out station is in the middle of a heavily walked isle so all eyes are on you and you are made to feel that you are in the way once they have rinsed you out. I was skeptic to go because i heard a lot of the people there were rude or snobby but my colorist Angeles was just great from start to finish she was professional and listened to what i wanted and gave me the results i was hoping for. I came to see MAYA because my friend goes to her so she told me to give her a try... I have very hard hair to style and everywhere i went for a haircut they never teach me how to do it at home.. I went to see Maya on Monday she spent a hour with me talking to me about my hair and why i hate it soo much so when we got to the haircut she told me step by step what she was going to do and she showed me the products i should use. WOW all i kept thinking is this girl is really good. When we got done she told me they way she styles my hair i would be able to do the same at home. I looked great and when i went home and washed it she was right.. I love her and i will go to her forever. So who ever reads this trust me go see her she is the BEST. THANX MAYA.. They first put me with a guy who didn't even have a flat iron!!!! Bree straightened my hair, but as she was "trimming", she cut it up to my shoulders... ie. she whacked off 8 inches without even knowing!!! The next time I washed my hair, it was up to my chin!!! How could this happen to me at an upscale salon?!!! I pay extra money not for something fancy, but just so someone doesn't screw up a trim and straightening. My friend was complaining afterwards that her face hurt b/c their peels were too strong - I had a facial person tell me ""I understand you are upset"" and totally giving me an attitude--which I am not used to getting attitude when I pay full price for service - Two receptionists helps me at the register. ""Arielle"" was super nice and friendly so I put down 15-20% tips for everyone (except the one with bad attitude who did my friend's facial). Then, I got home and received a voice message saying I still owed them $17. This is fine. But, ""Jan"", the other receptionist I had met at the store, gave me an attitude right off the bat and took a very condescending tone with me! She first seemed to imply that I didn't tell ""Arielle"" that I got the more expensive Signature Massage and only paid for the Swedish Massage. I was in the salon a few weeks ago and i came across a great stylist maya. I have to tell you guys this was the best haircut i ever had in my life. When this women cuts your hair not only is she talented but she listens to your every word what works for you and what doesn't. Her haircuts last months you hair would grow out so well you wouldn't believe. She is sooo sweet and caring and dead on about the latest fashions. I love her and I love the salon now. I went to Mary Pat for a hair cut and I had a great experience. She was super nice and did a great job! I am requesting her every time I go there now. Plus she new a ton about the cubs which was great conversation. For all you guys out there looking for a good place to get a hair cut at a decent price, I recomend Mary Pat 100%. Plus you cant beat the location right on michigan ave and there is a really nice equinox fitness gym on the same floor so you can work out and get styled up without having to run all over town. I do not recommend this location at all. Most of the Mario's are bad but this location and Pheasant Run take the award for worst in the state. I could not believe how rude the girls at the reception desk were. One girl is supposed to be the manager named Brittany but she just gossiped and behaved rudely to people and then the real gem is Kyle who should probably smile and maybe people wouldn't be so mad at how rude and incompetent she is. My stylist Frankie was horrible. I thought these people go to training before they cut hair but I guess she did not. I thought after the receptionists were rude that it couldn't get worse but my ""stylist"" was worse. She even rolled her eyes when I was talking to her. I obviously didn't talk to her the rest of the cut and just felt like crying. She rushed my blowdry and it was not straight at all. The cut was so bad my husband started yelling at me for letting it happen. We had to pay another $50 bucks to get it redone at another salon. I moved to Naperville ten years ago. I was recommend to this salon by several people as ""a great hair cut"" but, ""you will pay a price"". I am use to paying $65 for a cut and $90 for a color, however I am use to having good customer service at those prices. My experience there was, it is much like a factory. The people who do the work are great in their field, thus the price is high. I was willing to bare the ""price"" of bad service until one day I had enough. The front desk treats you like dirt if you?re not sporting a huge diamond and designer cloths. The people who actually do the cutting and coloring are better but don't look for the traditional bonding while you get your cut and/or color. I left after 8 years of six to eight weeks of cuts and color because; the management seems to favor making money. In this economy I hope they change their management style. A friend gave me a gift certificate to try the salon again and I did within the last month. I was hoping the experience would have been better however?I still have not changed my mind. This place is ridiculous! I recently got highlights there. When I made the appointment the guy on the phone confirmed that the price was $90 for full highlights. However, when I checked out I was told it was 130.00 because prices START at 90.00 and they could not tell me why my highlights were now 40.00 more. My hair is shoulder length, so I'm not buying the excuse that the check out guy said about my hair being longer than most girls. This is just a way for them to rip people off! What really ticks me off about this place is that after my color service, I was passed to someone else who washed my hair and then sent to a SELF SERVE STATION with hair dryers for me to use! I just paid $130 for highlights and I'm drying my hair myself! Isn't this standard to have the stylist dry your hair after you pay for any hair service?! This is the worst salon/spa I've ever been to. I recently got a mani/pedi here by the rudest woman on the planet. It was so difficult making the appointment because you have to call their 800 number a wait forever for a appt. It does look like a factory outlet salon. The staff are so rude and unprofessional. The lady that did my mani wasn't even looking at what she was doing, she was more concerned with gossiping with her co-workers. And she kept coughing in my face! Who would have thought I could get such a great cut while on vacation from Seattle. My stylist was on vacation and unable to do my hair before I left, but I found Brandon whom I want to highly recommend! His style and flair for hair was FABULOUS! When I got back to my families house my mother and two adult sister were so jealous, they made their own appointments with Brandon. Each one having a very different style. My mother came back with a graduated bob and she looks ten years younger. I can't stress enough how amazing our new hair looks. I have natural curly hair and have a hard time finding someone who ""really"" knows what they are doing. i called and FRANKIE was recommended. i told them i wanted a consultation as it was my first time there. i was assured if i came in a little early for my appt i would be able to speak with the stylist, i came in early and she was late. she rushed, had no hair magazines(what kind of salon doesn't have hair magazines), she was so busy running her mouth and telling me how she knew what she was doing that she wasn't listening. she heard bits and pieces put it all together and i ended up with no hair after i told her i was GROWING MY HAIR and only wanted her to clean it up and shape it. NOT CUT IT ALL OFF. on top of cutting it all off it was an ugly mishapen haircut. she did it in like 5 min (NO SKILL). EVERYTHING i told her not to do she did. when i called back to see what could be done as that was a lot of money to throw down the drain (i had to go a few days later to a REAL stylist and get a REAL haircut) i was given the runaround,and told a manager would call me back. well it's been 10 weeks or so and i'm still waiting. now my hair is super short. I HAD TO GO EXTREMELY SHORT TO OVERRIDE THAT DISASTER I GOT FROM FRANKIE,but at least its cute. my hair was shoulder length I WAS GROWING IT OUT for something different and now i have very short hair due to the incompetence of a careless person, and a shady fake salon that markets itself as if all the stylists are trained. My hair is very fine and I have sensative skin and I have never had any problems with the colors bothering my skin. And, the girl who cuts my hair does a great job. I went to Mario Tricoci for the first time in my life, looking forward to a great new style. I made the appointment on-line (very convenient) and chose first available stylist since I did not have a preference. I was greeted nicely and was told the stylist would be right with me. I waited 20 minutes, no one came so I went back up to the desk to inquire why. Well, the stylist I was suppose to get was cutting and styling someone elses hair. No other stylist was available. I was asked to wait, being told "she works fast". I told them this was not a very good first impression. Feeling very disappointed and a bit angry I decided it might be best if I leave. I didnt know that anybody could ever get a bad facial, but I did today. I checked in at the front desk and the lady just told me to go upstairs. She didnt tell me to go into the spa or anything so I waited outside in a very loud waiting room. Usually when I go to a spa, I am greeted with very nice people and asked to put on a robe or something. This was not the case... When it was time for the facial, I was taken back to a room and asked to get undressed from the waist up. After I got undressed she came in and starting making alot of noise (this was the person that was going to do my facial) . This was just really not relaxing. Next, I was laying there and she put this really bright light right in my eyes, and it was blinding. I ask her if I could remove it, because it was hurting and she didnt do anything. Then after analyzing my face, she tried to sell me their products and basically told me that my dermatologist was wrong in what she prescribed. After all of this the facial began. At first, I felt like she didnt know how to put lotion on my face, because it was really uncomfortable and by this time I wasn't enjoying the special gift that my husband had gotten for me for getting a new job. She took the first layer off and then starting squeezing my blackheads out. THIS HURT SOOOO BAD. I had to ask her to quit. I felt like she ripped off my nose at one point. After this, then everything started to get a little better. The massaging was nice, and I started relax except for the fact that I was right next to the bathroom. I would hear a toilet flushing every 2-3 minutes and people talking outside my room. I was getting so annoyed. Oh and the funny thing was that when I left, the receptionist asked me how it was and said OK (thats it). I guess now I know that OK is all they need to hear to feel good about their services. Yesterday, I had my hair highlighted and cut at the Oakbrook location. I simply love it! I cannot begin to tell you the number of compliments I have received from both women and men. Being a woman of color, I was skeptical about having my hair styled at a salon predominately for Caucasians. In fact, I called in advanced to request a stylist that had experience working with African American hair textures. Both of the women who styled and colored my hair were attentive, courteous, and enthusiastic about offering me a new look. I have given MT's several chances, but each time I am disappointed by an overall lack of customer service, not to mention MT's employee's inflated egos. The front desk girls need a class in customer service, starting with the basics of a smile and ""hello"". I have continued to patronize MT's in the past because of their convenient hours, but not even that is enough to get me to return this time. Overrated. Last visit I said I asked for exactly the same highlights as previous visit - but was given a different color! Had to wait in chair for 10-12 minutes waiting for the stylist to arrive and cut my hair...no one offered me a magazine or coffee. No biggie...but when girl arrived she said she has been on break and ""I make sure I take my breaks - the day is too stressful otherwise"". Finally, I asked for bangs. Parents take note - children are not welcome at this location. I had an appointment for a 10 minute brow wax, I was told to go upstairs to check in, was checked in, and once I was taken in back I was immediately accosted by a woman telling me that my sleeping daughter was not welcome since I was in the ""quiet zone"". She was incredibly rude and offensive. My first visit and last visit there was uneventful. I paid 70.00 for a wash and blowdry, My hair looked better before I went in. The staff knew very little about black hair and the end result was it showed. My shoulder length hair looked more like an afro with curls rather then hair. Read Less

I recently relocated to Naperville from Southern California. I was worried about finding someone to color my hair. I used to go to extremely nice, high end salons in California. I went to Mario's and saw Gina. She did a better job than any of the high priced salons in California!!!!! She was an extremely nice person as well!!!!
