First of all, the customer service is exceptional. The women who work here are so polite and nice. The place is extremely clean and comforting. The pedicure was the best I’ve experienced, ON THE OTHER HAND, I received the most terrible “no chip” manicure. Got it done Friday, it chipped on Saturday. Was able to get in Tuesday and got the two repaired for free, but basically all of the rest of them chipped anyway. It is only one week later as I type this and all of my nails have chipped. I feel so silly for wasting my money on an “upscale” manicure that lasted me no time at all. Even a $25 no chip will last for 2 weeks minimum. I have been to Shic before with a previous employee and left all smiles. My last visit was quite the opposite. Nicole did my nails. I wanted a marble pattern in gray. I have had this done before, but never like this. Nicole had a white base no chip and used a black sharpie marker on my nails. When she asked me how it looked after completing one nail, I told her it was too dark. I wanted a gray pattern. She told me white and black makes gray and then continued layering my whit...e nails with her black sharpie. My dissatisfaction was all over my face as she continued. My nails looked purple/blue. I spoke to the young lady who checked me out who stated she was the manager. She told me my total was $54. When I explained how I felt she changed my total to $64 and said she took off $10. This place was very clean, beautiful and welcoming which I loved hands down. Unfortunately I have to give this place a one star because I paid nice penny for a service and I am not satisfied. The pedi was great I got the brown sugar package which was $70 then paid an extra $15 for no chip on my hands. I got this service done last week and a week later my no chip has chipped off one of my nails. Now I have been to other shops and paid almost half of this price and my no chip lasted at least 3 weeks. I loved the fact how clean it is once again but however that amount of money I paid, there is no way my polish should have chipped. My regular polish lasted much longer than this. Love it here. Any place I go to must know and understand the importance of sanitation. One thing I can say is that Shic definitely does. I watch them sanitize and disinfect all the surfaces down to the actual seat. Then the services and customer service are amazing! I am one that is very picky when it comes to my services. I love my experience each time I visit this place. It is indeed an experience. Pros: I never wait longer than 5 min to be servicedEach nail tech is fabulous! Literally, all of them are great They has quality polish.You're offered water or tea while you get serviced.The environment is clean and relaxing. Cons:Parking can sometimes be ridiculous.The techs take their time (good and bad. You know sometimes you just want to get in and out)A little more expensive than your typical nail salon (however, it isn't your usual nail salon)You have to schedule appointments weeks ahead of time. I waited over a month for an appointment which you have to leave a credit card number to hold app. It was my first time there and couldn't find parking so when I walked in I was 11 min late so they told me because I was not on time they were not going to be able to do my pedicure. I was there for 3 hours getting a fill and jewels were put on one finger. she said I was done and could not do pedicure. I said please at least polish my toes so they match my nails and she saip Nope. sorry no can do. so I walked out with un matching nails and toes. The very next day all the jewels fell off and 3 nails broke. Her explanation is when they do a fill they just do the fill part and do not overlay the whole nail. (ok) well now it was going to take 4 days to get an appointment for a repair. went in for repair and she said one was too short and could not repair it. (never had that happen before) so I walked out with my pinky now not only not repaired but she didn't even polish it so it would match my other nails. she charged me $10 for repair. I scheduled my first ever appointment with Shic online and received several email and text reminders and even held my appointment with a credit card as a part of the businesses cancellation policy. None of which I cared about because I am accustomed to these types of policies. I show up today at exactly 5pm, my scheduled time and I was greeted by the receptionist and was told my manicurist would be right with me. 10 minutes later she comes back out to say that "she will be ...with you shortly". 30 minutes later I informed the receptionist that I would be leaving and walked out. If I wanted to wait 30 minutes to be seen I would have gone to any one of the 25 nail shops that I passed by on my 30 minute commute to Shic! I understand just finishing up with a client...but 30 minutes? I don't doubt that they do a great job, but if you are going to go out of your way to ensure that I keep my appointment...make sure you keep yours and if unforseen circumstances arise please be a little more vocal to your waiting clients and they may understand! I've been to this salon a few times. I LOVE that it is Black Owned and that it is by appointment only. The salon is clean, organized and I never have to wait. The pedicures are amazing!!  My only gripe is with the no-chip manicures... mine always start to chip after one week and then my nails begin to break. I've had 2 technicians and experienced the same results. I'm not sure if it's the age of the product or the application.  I may give them another chance before I completely give up. Read Less

This is the first time I have been compelled to write a Yelp review, but I just had to spread the word about the wonderful experience I had at Shic!I have been looking for a CLEAN, professional nail salon in the southern suburbs forever, and I have finally found it.My sister discovered this while searching on the web.  We were intrigued by their website, (appointments only, no kids) so we decided to take a drive to find out if they were indeed an "upscale" nail boutique.  Upon entering the first thing we noticed was the calm, soothing ambiance and pleasant smell (no sign of those awful acrylic nail products).  We were greeted in a courteous, professional manner by one of the technicians (I forget her name) and were told what the "basic" pedicure would entail for the extremely reasonable price of $35.   She then gave us a brief tour, and right away we were impressed.  Although they don't take walk-ins (another plus in my book) they were able to give us an appointment within the hour.  The seating was comfortable, the staff well dressed, pleasant and above all PROFESSIONAL!  My technician, Nicole was very thorough, yet gentle.  Even the television was tuned to HGTV (no Maury or other loud reality show shenanigans) with the sound turned down and closed caption set.  The overhead music was calm, soothing; no rap, or hip hop music to ruin the mood.  I can't say enough positive things about this establishment and am eager to spread the word about the great experience I had.  My sister and I will return, and HIGHLY recommend Shic! to anyone who is fed up with the typical sweatshop nail salons. FANTASTIC NAIL SALON! Very upscale and classy! all the girls are super nice and friendly! The front desk gentleman (Antonio I believe?) very was helpful at fitting both myself and my mother in at the same time when I called. We even ran a few minutes late (I am from out of town and was unfamiliar with the area) but they still took up quickly! You get to pick a bath salt smelly thingy that are handmade by the owner to put in your pedicure. By far the BEST and most thorough callus remover treatment I have ever gotten. I took a chance on a nail salon and lost. Big time. I was a bit leery of trying another, especially after only reading reviews online. But a chance I did take. And I'm so glad I did. Shic Nail Boutique is fabulous.  The staff is professional and pleasant. There is always a greeting at my entrance. The first thing I notice is there is a notable lack of "nail salon smell". Rather there is a sweet aroma in the air. After I check in, the receptionist invites me to pick out a bath salt with a custom scent made by the salon. At any given time there are at least 5 or six to pick from, with one being specifically for men. Next, I'm greeted by my nail stylist who invites me into the warm atmosphere of the actual salon in the back. Soothing and jazzy r & b sounds kiss the air as I pick from a wall of at least 150 of the latest fashionable colors. She escorts me to one of 4 pedicure stations where instead of individual chairs, I step up to a high backed chocolate leather sofa seat with built in back massage and purple and grey throw pillows to place behind my back and arm. There is also an arm rest with a cup holder which conveniently holds the glass of sparkling wine, orange or lemon Pelligrino or still water offered to me as I sit. A beautiful round ceramic bowl awaits with perfect temperature water infused with my chosen scent. Today it was Jasmine Rose. My stylist pulls her tools of the trade out and I recall with relief: all files, emery boards, toe separators and flip flops are new for each customer. All other tools come straight from  being disinfected. Sanitary conditions lend to my sanity.Here is where I fall into my happy place...As I stir nearly 45 minutes later, after my trimmed nails have had her feet pampered by a brown sugar scrub, foot mask with hot towels and massage with the in house made body frosting, I feel the tickle of bright red, sparkly nail polish being expertly applied. I'll sit here a little while longer enjoying my orange Pelligrino and cool tunes while my toes dry.I've walked thru the door of Shic 3 times, each time allowing a different stylist use her gifts on my weary flight attendant feet. Yet every time has been a wonderful and rejuvenating experience.  I'm not prone to exaggeration but Shic Nail Boutique lives up to this review. The third time is as charming as the first. It was a wonderful experience! I ended up at this establishment after reading the reviews posted on yelp. I was not disappointed, it was truly an above average, manicure and pedicure. The atmosphere was delightful, just the right tone...music, seating, temperature...etc.  The overpowering chemical smell consumers accept as a normal....Not here!!! Clean, professional, friendly, attentive, upscale, modern...the list can go on and on. I can say nothing but positive things about this BOUTIQUE!!!!!
