I would have given them a 5 because their skill level and equipment deserve that rating but the the lack of customer service was disappointing. There is a YouTube video mocking and profiling a nail tech that describes the atmosphere here in its entirety. It's very frustrating to attempt to converse with a tech that speaks very clear English-in fact I would say he is a US native-while he ignores you and talks in Vietnamese about the customers to other employees. Been there once and said no more. Very unprofessional. Was going to get change to tip Gave them a 20.00 he gave me 10 in change. ( he was doing to many things at once) Told him it was a 20. Instead of saying sorry he was accusing me that I didn't. Which I know I did since I went to the bank to get cash to get my nails done. So.. Unfortunately received a gift card from a friend . So had to use it. The place is still the same. Unprofessional . Once again instead of apologizing for there mistakes and correcting the problem the shift the blame back on the consumer. My daughter asked for her nails to be done a certain way. Which the girl didn't do. Even the male employee told her as well what my daughter wanted and she act like she understood. I got a gel (no chip) manicure, pedicure, and eyebrow wax and I can say that I am incredibly satisfied. I have tried multiple places in Mchenry and this is the only place where my no gel manicure has lasted over two weeks.I made and appointment for my mother and I and they sat us as soon as we came in. I may have to update this later as I've only been here once and I'm not a regular client at nail salons as it's not really my thing. I'm generally very picky, but have had a difficult time finding a consistently well rated and fairly priced nail place around McHenry. After much research and polls on facebook sites, I decided on this place. Made an appointment with minimal hassle, had an amazing pedicure and good acrylics. I liked that most of the time they spoke English in front of their clients and they seemed friendly, plus it was clean. My 3 year old also got her nails painted (for fun, prior to going on vacation) - she loved the experience and the kid's chair, but her nail polish didn't last long (like a few days max) which was a little disappointing. I'm still a little leary due to all the other negative comments, however I had a fairly good experience (nothing to write home to mom about from this visit) and I will go back (perhaps a few more times) to see how it goes! My friend and I just went here to try and get our nails done and we were turned away due to them closing in 20 minutes. It seems like we were an inconvience and unwelcom there. I've been there 3 or 3 times. All good except for the last time. Devin did my nails and they were fine but his attitude was upsetting. He was rather rude and condiscending. Seemed that none of the customers or coworkers could say anything right. He may have been in a bad mood and I guess we are all entitled to a bad day. I sure hope it was a one time issue. When I spend the money to get my nails done it is a treat. I do not want to walk out of the place angry because of someone's rudeness. I go to relax and enjoy. I have been going there for a long while now and I've never missed an appointment.  I made an eyebrow wax appointment and was unable to make it due to my father being in the hospital on an emergency. So I called today to make another appointment and the owner says " you didn't come last time " and I said " yes my father was in the hospital it was an emergency" all he said was "well next time you need to call."  Incredible rude asshole!!!!LOL I will never step foot back in this place ever again he had absolutely zero sympathy and all he cared about was his $10. My husband booked me a manicure at 5:30pm today. (He called around 3:30 on the way home) the guy who is the owner told my husband anytime around 5 is ok. So we went there at 5:30pm and the owner said it's backed up and we needed to wait 20 minutes. We waited 20 minutes and saw people got there after us getting nails done before us. (I was sure that one of them were just walk-in appointment because she signed the walk-in paper and she got the service before us). I was a little upset and I asked him: how long we need to wait? The guy told me very mean: we are backed up. Calm down! My husband and I were shocked that he could be that disrespectful. I said: I'm calm. But we came here for a 5:30 appointment. The guy almost yelled at us: your husband called 10 minutes ago and he didn't even know what nails service to get!You should leave now!! It's unbelievable how a service treats their customers this way. I actually went there a couple times before because I live in the neighborhood. After this HORRIFYING experience, we will never go there again!!! This is the WORST customer service I ever seen in my life! I would have given no star if I could! The first time I went here I was pleased. But the reason for the bad review is the second time I came. I got a pedicure, the guy I had didn't seal the color in and he didn't clean up the sides of my toenail where the color bleeds. When I asked if he would pick a color for me because I wasn't sure he said "I don't have time for this". He was extremely rude.  I also had a no chip color change. The lady scraped my nails so hard she hurt me. So the same rude guy took over and did my no chip. He didn't paint the full nail. You can see spaces that are not filled in. And when I asked him to fix my thumb nail because it was faded he gave me attitude and tried to say it was my fault. He didn't want to fix it until my daughter asked him to. This was my second time going, first time I went to devin I believe? Didn't catch his name. He sits close the wall. And I loved what he did. The second time I walked in, he was busy and was serviced by the other guy there(closest to the register) was not content with how he was with my nails, he filed my nail down so much that it was burning and kept going back to the same area, then when he applied a liquid and the acrylic, it burned so badly. I have been there a couple of times for both acrylics and pedicures. Every time I have been more than happy with how my nails turned out. I am Very picky when it comes to shape and thickness of my nails and they do it perfectly. The only downfall about this place is that the wait can be pretty long even with an appointment. I've never been to a nail salon. Took my 2 teenagers there as a gift for them. We walked in and the woman in charge didn't acknowledge us and then after waiting she told us she couldn't help us because she was too busy. She acted like we were bothering her so I gave my $100 to another nail salon. Horrible way to treat potential customers! Read Less

I love this place.  The staff is super nice and professional, plus they do an awesome job!  I never really expected myself to be the type of person to have a go-to nail salon, but now I do, and this is it!  The no chip polish is the only way to go, and it lasts longer than it takes for my nails to grow out.  I do recommend making an appointment in an effort to avoid waiting, as it can get busy, but they do accept walk-ins, too. Maybe it's my lack of girlie girl friends or because my mom is also equally low maintenance, but I don't know how to do the nail salon "thing."  Seriously. In fact, I've had my nails done maybe twice in my life: disastrous gels (ouch) for Homecoming back in the day, and a regular manicure + polish back in the early college days when my cooperating teachers dragged me along with them (I was in their car and there was no chance of escape).So, yeah...despite my touting that I'm an independent woman and that I learn to do things because I have to, things in this realm elicit some anxiety.  That said, tonight I used my handy Yelp app to search a nail salon near my mom's place and saw the great reviews for Valley Nails. I took a deep breath, walked in a little after 4, and asked about a no-chip manicure.  The guy at the desk walked away and took over for a woman who was doing a pedicure.  (It was actually pretty busy despite the time/it being a Wednesday!) Literally two minutes later I was at a station and getting my digits all 'did (French).I was in and out in about a half hour and pretty impressed with her handiwork.  Maybe the  After she finished the polish, she gave a brief relaxing hand massage.  Likey!I AM pretty OCD and like the polish to cover every bit of the nail.  The clear polish one mine isn't perfect (especially on the thumbs), but I guess it's not critical because it's not colored/obvious. Still, next time I'd probably ask for them to get as close to the sides/edges of my nails as possible. Also, I have some small bubbles in my white polish.Anyway, it was a pretty good experience for my first independent excursion to a nail salon.  I'm sure I'll be back! Read Less

Great little place I didn't even know existed until I went on Yelp and it's only 5 minutes from my house! I had a no chip mani and pedi and they did a beautiful job! It's my first time with no chip so we'll see how it holds up! I went all out since I only have it done about 2 times a year. I will definitely go back again! Clean, uncluttered, modern atmosphere! I had a "no chip" mani and regular pedi. The service was great and my nails looked perfect! I felt like I was able to communicate well with the person doing my nails and also felt that she understood me and was patient with me (I can be super picky!). Price was reasonable and service was exceptional!A couple notes, the selection of nail polish was good and organised by colour and brand - great for when you're in a hurry! No chip colours were on clear palates (instead of white) so the colours were easy to see; sometimes when colours are displayed on white palates, colours seem more opaque than they are. Read Less

Where do I begin...My no chip paint job (I call it a paint job because there was nothing more than a paint job) has already started coming up and it is only day 5.  Two weeks, yeah right.  Secondly, to the lady working on my nails... I do not know you.  I don't think it is appropriate for you to tell me about your life.  I also don't think its appropriate to drop F-Bombs and talk to me about how your husband is f-ing another pus*y.  That is more than a first time customer needs to know.I will not be returning.  I highly doubt this place will last long...
