I went in with my Mom to get massage because we had a Groupon. We walked in and the lady hired some outside guy to give the massage. He was dressed in dirty overalls and a baseball cap. We both went through with it, but clearly this guy didn't have a license. He flung my body everywhere. When i told him that i needed a tissue to wipe my nose, he told me to wipe it on the sheets. This guy was so unprofessional and creepy and I should have refused the service to begin with. Then the owner didn't give me the Groupon price and told me she needed me to come back. When I came back, jet shop was closed. It all seemed shady and unprofessional. She was very nice, but needs to learn how to run a business. She is the most unprofessional salon owner ever.Read Less

where do I begin??i received a groupon as a gift for a no chip manicure at lavish salon spa. my experience was anything BUT lavish! i showed up a few minutes early to my appointment time, 10 AM... to a studio that was not even open yet. no problem - i was pretty early. so i patiently waited... until 10:15 a woman walked up to unlock the door.The woman claimed she was the owner and she let me in. She made me pay before she did my nails which was understandable. keep in mind that she just took my groupon and took my cash and shoved it in a drawer... don't let me tell you how to run your business - i just thought it was a little unprofessional to not keep record...ANYWAYS... lets fast forward to the actual no chip nail application. as she was removing my no chip manicure that i had on she was using a wood stick (ouch) and i felt like she had no idea what she was doing because the color was not really coming off and she was hurting me.she also asked me a lot of questions about my personal life that i did not feel comfortable answering..i told her the color i wanted and as she was applying it all i was thinking was : "is she gonna fix this? is this a certain technique? what is she doing??" because it was nothing like a no chip manicure that i ever got.. and she kept trying to get me to buy this cuticle oil that i did not need and made it clear that i did not want it - but she kept pushing the cheap jar of oil on me. can you say annoying??!! i ended up having a messy no chip mess on my nails that i was embarrassed about.i could've let my 10 year old niece do my nails and she would've done a better job than this woman. IT DOESNT END THERE! her unprofessionalism peaked when i left the salon...three days later i got a TEXT from the lady saying SHE DIDNT THINK THAT I PAID FOR MY MANICURE.....!!?? although i paid in the beginning of the appointment and she shoved my payment in a drawer. it is NOT MY FAULT that you are UNORGANIZED.. NORMAL SALONS DONT TEXT CLIENTS 3 DAYS AFTER THEY LEFT ASKING FOR PAYMENT. i can not even believe the amount of time i wasted driving there, waiting for her, and getting a terrible experience. i would NEVER recommend anyone go here for any reason. the lady said she had been in the industry for years.... i don't trust it. i doubt she even has an up to date certification. Just awful. I went for a Pedicure with a friend who had visited from out of state. When we arrived, the lady wasn't ready, and told us to come back in a half an hour until she finished with another client. Once we came back, she was still not ready for us. Had to go get another foot bath from a janitors closet that was outside the shop, and told me her husband wasnt sure if he fixed that one or not. That it might not heat up, or the jets may not run but she would figure out a way to accommodate that , if there was an issue. The foot bath given to my friend worked just fine. Mine had a very weak jet, and the water ended up going cold before the whole thing was finished. She had paid more attention to my friend than to me (still dont understand why a Men's pedicure is any different than one for women but it cost just as much and i had less done to my feet) and at one point she had wrapped my feet in wet rags that went cold even faster than the foot bath. she even turned off my bath because she couldnt hear my friend talking she said. She really struggled with giving two pedicures simultaneously, all the while talking up her pedicure having a lot of pride in it. She didn't even scrub my feet with a pumice stone or anything. She literally pulled out a couple NAIL FILES from the dollar store and buffed out feet gently. My legs felt grimy when i left and it was a horrible experience. Lady was very nice, but didn't know what she was doing. using the words 'energizing' and 'rejuvenating' over and over dont make the products you use any better. This place is far too expensive for the poor quality of work you will get done. Read Less

The staff are super friendly and really down to earth. I have had Stephanie do my nails a few times now and she does a wonderful job. Bonus - She will have you falling out of your chair laughing. She pays attention to detail and she does all her nail art free hand. Amazing artist! I won't be going anywhere else. I love this place! I haven't had my hair cut in a very long time as every place I go, no one listens to what I want and they just cut. My hair was pretty much down to my rear end and all one length. I wanted something a little different.  Linda was amazing!! Came up with suggestions and gave me the best advice on do's and don'ts with cut and color. Needless to say, she really wowed me with what she did to my hair. Talented woman. It really looks amazing. I am totally in love with my hair (never thought I'd say that). I will be coming back for not only my nails but my hair as well. It's really hard to find a good stylist but to have an amazing nail artist and stylist in the same place. Huge bonus!! Read Less

I love going to this salon!  The owner Linda is very knowledgeable and friendly. She takes her time to listen to my needs regarding my cut and color and applies her skills so that I will look my best!  Her new boutique location is convenient and charming!  I highly recommend Lavish Salon! The first time I went, she had just opened in the new building the day before so I gave her some slack.  I waited almost 45 minutes because she forgot to transfer me over to the other book - 30 due to another customer and 15 for cleanup and a few walk in questions.  She was pleasant but did tried to convince me to wash my hair a different way and buy the products she had.  Some of that was expected.  Went to pay and the credit card machine was not set up so, we had to work out another solution. I had an event coming up in a few weeks, so we set up another appointment and she would honor my coupon for a free style since I really just wanted a cut at that appointment.  Leading up to the appointment, I did not receive a reminder call.  First thought that things had not improved.  Went to the appointment and waited outside (since there is no room to wait inside her booth).  She was with someone and never acknowledged that I was waiting. 15 minutes later, I left.  She was no where near done with the other client and had no clue she had an appointment waiting.  She is a nice person.  Her ability to organize and run a business, I am not sure is really there. I saw recent reviews for this salon, from faceless reviewers with no reviews no less, and figured that it's high time I finish my review.  Sure, it's been awhile since I've been back here but let's be honest...I will NOT be going back here again.  I just hope that maybe... just maybe...there have been some improvements or another stylist on board because the owner just can't cut it (pun intended) on her own!I've been a McHenry transplant from the city for a few years now and, even though I LOVE my city stylist, figured that it'd be good to go someplace local and cheaper once in awhile.  I like to have my hair did but man, my city guy's prices are a bit much sometimes.  Lavish is close to home, looked pretty nice, fancy website, and well, hey, let's give some $ to local businesses, right?Here's how my appointment went.  I waited over 30 minutes before my stylist came to get me and was never greeted by the receptionist who was really just wandering around the place looking for something to do.  The consultation went ok when I was finally in the chair so I thought, ok... good things come to those who wait, right? WRONG.  She continued with washing my hair and talked about how I don't wash my hair right and how I use the wrong products.  Asked me what I liked about my hair at least 3 times and then sat me back at her station... to wait even more.  A massage client was there asking about a gift certificate, but I guess the receptionist couldn't handle it so she took another 20 minutes out of my appointment to handle the situation. After all of that she continued to try to persuade me to color my hair..right then and there...all while another client was waiting for her appoinment after me. Was she going to have that person wait while she applied the color or what? There wasn't another stylist there to do it, plus I waited for her for almost an hour and actually had a commitment after my appointment that I was worried about missing.  I almost could've handled all of that craziness if my hair looked alright and I would've given her another chance, but god...worse haircut I've ever had.  Took me about a month for it to grow out to where it looked right.  ugh.  The worse thing about it is that I had bad hair for my fiance's work party that night and it was first time I've ever met some of his colleagues, who I swear only know me as the girl with the bad bangs now.  If there is a good salon in McHenry Co. please let me know because this place just isn't it. This place is awesome! My mother and I had been going to the owner's previous salon for many years (6+) and when she said she was opening a new salon/spa, we knew we had to visit. The decor inside is great, the staff is always friendly, and the owner takes good care of her salon. I would highly recommend this salon/spa to anyone in McHenry county, they do just about anything you could want in a salon/spa, including massages, manicures, pedicures, hair, makeup, and brow waxing.
