Tried this place for the first time today. The place itself and the staff are nice. First time customers get a discount which is nice. The haircut itself was just okay. The stylist kept saying that since I'm new to them that they didn't know how I like my hair. I'll probably stick to the regular barbershop where they are more confident with the razor. I have a LOT of hair and I've always dreaded haircuts. Carley understood exactly what I wanted and gave me an amazing transformation. Colorist Kelly is THE BEST! Kelly is wonderful at what she does. she is incredible at color whether it's ombre sombre going light or dark. she is excellent at blending techniques and color correction. This place is great. I just had my second visit with Hannah. The first time for a blow out the second for a cut. Not just any but a big cut. I donated 11 inches of hair. I was very nervous about such a big cut but Hannah was so great she made it easy. I used to be a client here prior to moving out of state many years ago. I was in town for a week recently and was able to be scheduled for a cut and color with Kelly and Becky the very next day. My overall experiences with both stylists and the front desk in regards to scheduling was great. I was a little indecisive regarding my color and cut however, both Kelly and Becky were very professional, helpful, and did a fantastic job. I loved everything about my hair walking out of the salon. It was pouring rain when I checked out and the front desk staff member even walked me out to my car with an umbrella! I noticed some comments here mentioning the price is expensive. I live in California and actually told the front desk how cost efficient the Zano prices are! Especially my color cost.. which would have been double the price had I gotten it done in California. Also, the products used made my hair feel and smell wonderful. I would recommend to this location and these two stylists to anyone! Read Less

I always have a good experience here. Julia gets my color just how I want it whether I'm going darker, lighter, or most recently experimenting with balayage. Cassidy cuts my hair and I'm always satisfied with the way my naturally wavy frizzy hair will keep the cut until my next appointment without looking grown out. I've been going here for the past couple years now.   Used to come here back in the early 90s too.  It's pricier than most places I've gone, but the quality and service far exceed other places too.I've been to places where I can just sense the feeling of being rushed in and out for the turn over.   I never feel that at Zano's.  They take the time to understand what you want and they do their best to deliver.I've been seeing Hannah for cuts lately.   Now I simply ask her to perform a miracle by making me look good.   Some how she manages to make me feel like she pulled it off.Kudos to the place.   They do it right. This is a most wonderful place to get your hair cut. The staff is so friendly and professional. I will only have Carley as she is just so wonderful. She will tell you honestly when you ask her if you could cut your hair a certain way and she give you a honest answer and explains it. We have tried a couple of cuts and each one has been great. She is always up beat and just so pleasant you kind of don't want you hair cut to end because she makes you so comfortable and I love the chats we have. I have never had someone do as good of job that Carley does. She knows her stuff. I am so greatful I found her and could not even think of going somewhere else. Matt and Julia are the dynamic duo. I lost my hairstylist of 20 years. Looking for a new stylist was a nerve wracking experience, and finding someone whom could blend and has an eye for color was something I didn't believe I would find easy. Matt not only is an addictive, kind, friendly soul, but someone who feel you have known forever, just comfortable. His education and knowledge that flows through conversations just sitting in his chair is most delightful. His golden hands styled my hair with ease and the outcome was pure perfection. I have been going to Julia Irvnik for my color and Hannah for my cut for the past year now. I love it! Reception always has a warm welcome and offers beverages. And Julia has transformed my hair. I went from a lack luster black to a soft brown with red golden balyage. When I'm getting my hair cut from Hannah I always get exactly what I ask and she is super pleasant to be around. After my stylist at another salon downtown moved far far away and trying countless city salons, I decided to give Zano a try (since it's by my parents house).  I'm incredibly happy with my new 'do!  I have straight-as-a-board hair that was past my shoulders.  I brought in a few photos on long bobs that I was considering as well as a loose perm to give my hair some body.  After chatting with my stylist, he explained that we should take baby steps - let's start with the haircut and then we can work our way to a perm for some texture if need be.  I was relieved with his advice because chopping my hair was a drastic change.  Don't get me wrong, I love it...but I needed a day or two to play with it, style it and get to know my new hair style.  My stylist Matt was great the whole way through - chatting about Kimye, Taylor Swift, etc.  He explained to me which products he used and why (a huge bonus since after I leave with products, I want to know what to do with them!). The manager Nikki brought me ice water and gossip mags.All in all, I was very impressed with this salon in the burbs - this city girl may just have to trek out to Lisle every month or so to get my hair done here:)  I've already scheduled a followup session to get that texture in my hair...after a long discussion with my stylist Matt.  I can't wait to see the results! I have been here now 4 or 5 times. Seen a few different people for cuts but I've got to say, Michael does a FANTASTIC job! He gave me the best haircut of my life last July and I went to someone else last time because Michael was unavailable and I was feeling impatient that week (my bad). So anyhow, today I went back with my mother and we both had our hair cut by Michael again. My mother has NEVER EVER had a cut she's been satisfied with. Today as I got my hair cut, I looked at her and I could just see pure satisfaction. She LOVED the cut he gave her hands down. I loved mine too of course...I guess I think he's just magical with a pair of scissors lol. A side note is that he makes me laugh and have a good time the whole visit..hard to come by!I also had an all-over color treatment done today by Mikaela. She did a fantastic job. She's also very sweet and easy to talk to. Needless to say, my mother and I both already booked our next appointments with the two of them again for the holiday season. I just realized I don't think I have reviewed this particular Zano, even though I go here every 4-6 weeks!Melissa does my color (she had worked at dt Naperville before coming to the Lisle location). I am not very picky and know that she knows what she is doing, so I let her take the reigns sometimes. It always comes out amazing! Carly cuts my hair and I would seriously not want it any other way. I am glad Melissa recommended her way back when. I am not, how you say, particularly social- I am pretty quiet. But Carly and Melissa both make it easy to talk and make me feel comfortable. This place is pricey, but I have very thick curly hair and they do a pretty good job working with it and being patient. I have been going here many years but it could be better. The only reason why I go back is because I give them credit for taking the time to blow dry and straighten my hair which takes up a lot of time after a haircut or highlights. I get my haircuts and highlights here. They do a good job with cutting and highlights and Ive never had problems. One thing that I don't like, is that this salon is not very clear with how much everything costs. They pretty much surprise you at the end with a huge total at the end with stuff you didn't even know they did because they didn't tell you. And when they give you a receipt, it doesn't even show how much everything cost.  So you are left clueless. I don't like that. I'm the one paying for this, you better tell me how much things cost. Also, I feel the front desk receptionists are told how to act, and they are a "fake" nice. They try to act friendly but they really aren't. They say "my pleasure" and all this other stuff and you can tell they are not genuine at all about it. The customer service needs serious improvement, but overall the salon services are good. Zanos has raised their prices and severely cut corners so that you can expect to wait wait and wait some more and get less for your money.  Last appt. my colorist kept me waiting for 15 minutes before I took a walk back to the bathroom and saw her reading a paperback in the chair that I was supposed to be in 15 minutes ago.  No other clients around.  Latest appt. kept me waiting for 35 minutes.  Surely, I will not repeat this frustration and you can certainly do better than this too. You need to find a salon with actual customer service as a priority, unlike Zanos, who probably is the priciest place around. Read Less

My first visit to Zanos was at the downtown Naperville location.  The front desk person was very rude.  She was an older woman who acted as if I was inconveniencing her.  They are hard core when it comes to selling product.  The stylist I saw mentioned what she put in my hair, then at checkout she put a bottle of it up on the counter saying, "I'll just put it here to discuss it with the front desk person".  I had told her I didn't use any product and I didn't want any.  That really p'd me off.  Total turn off.  The stylist was young and did an ok job.  She added a layer I didn't ask for but I liked it so I was ok with it.  I will write about 2nd visit in another post.  It was about $40 for hair cut which is good. This place is very pricey!  81 dollars for a partial highlight?!  Really?!I went to this place 3-4x only because my former stylist who goes by Mya moved here....she used to color my hair and used to do a fantastic job.However, the mindset in this salon is very different.  There were multiple times where I actually wanted a specific color, and what she wound up doing was stripping my hair (without telling me this), and doing a deep conditioner (again without telling me this) and charging me 255 dollars for my total services...obviously i didnt expect this!  Another experience I recall was when the highlights i received washed out in 5 washings..so I called back for a redo...and THEY CHARGED!  What place charges!?The staff here is a bit on the snotty side...not at all friendly at the front desk...I will never go back to this place...not unless they figure out what customer service is, and have their prices match their quality Read Less

Zanos is on the expensive side but they are able to do things with my really difficult hair that I never thought possible. My hair is very fine and natually wants to stick straight out from my head. It is really horrible to work with but my hair always looks great after they have finished styling it.They also do an excellent job with highlights - I have had so many compliments on them. Well worth the price and, honestly, I don't mind moving from station to station. I can use the chance to get up and move around after sitting in a chair for (what feels like) soooo long :-). Read Less
