The space is beautiful, the staff highly professional and most importantly they do a great job on my nails (my manicures last for weeks)! I always look forward to going back! The team at Splendor also goes above & beyond by offering a wide selection of drinks & treats to enjoy while services are going on. AN incredibly clean and classy establishment. They serve you drinks (hot or iced tea, coffee, flavored water, pop) and treats (gluten free options) with your service. OK I wanted to get gel nails put on with tips, they were pretty reasonable. I was there for 2.5hrs getting them on, weird conversation and the woman doing my nails seemed to be a perfectionist, which i thought would have been great, but she messed up on my polish, gave me $10 off, great i can look past that, but not even 24 hrs after the manicure 5 nails have fallen off in the shower, washing my hands, doing laundry and shopping, one even cracked in half! its mom and daughter owned, like that part, it felt very HGTV feel, cute shop wish the quality was better Read Less

Okay, this review will be long, but it goes to show what horrible staff and owners work at Splendor.  I initially wrote management regarding my visit.  The letter is this:I am writing in order to inform you of my visit to your establishment today.  My friend and I decided to have a ladies day out, and had decided to purchase a Groupon for a manicure and pedicure.  We each paid for the $29 special and were looking forward to visiting with your staff for the very first time.Upon our arrival, I was pleasantly surprised and was truly appreciative of the offer of soda, flavored water, or juice.  Your establishment appeared very clean and sophisticated, I was excited to receive your services.My friend had a soft spoken woman work on her, I had an individual with black glasses and blonde hair.  She appeared to be in her 40's or so, stated she lived west of Hinsdale.  I do regret to inform you I cannot remember her name at the moment, I am very pregnant!  :)  (I now know her name is Krissy).  However, if I had to compare her to a medical professional I would have to honestly say she had poor bedside manner.  As my pedicure was being done she was very brash and quick.  I understand it was to be a quick pedicure, but I expected a little kindness.  I was honestly surprised when she almost reprimended me by telling me not to try and help by moving my feet as she placed the flip flop on me.  I let that go and we eventually went to her manicure table.As she started to peer at my nails she asked how long I wanted to keep them.  At that moment, they were about a half inch long.  I pointed to my pinky finger nail which was approximately a quarter inch long.  As she began clipping, she asked what I did for a living.  I told her I was a nurse.  She looked at me in disdain and stated "they let you keep your nails this long around patients!"  It wasn't a question, it was an accusatory statement.  I responded yes, they do.  She then asked me why they allowed me to use red nail polish(I had a previous coat of red), I informed her as long as they were kept clean they were acceptable.  However, this is actually none of her business and it doesn't matter what my employer allows me to do.  Imagine how disappointed I was when I realized thru all of this that she had completely cut all of my nails down comparable to the length of hers.  I no longer have any nails.  Instead of making a scene, I kept my cool because I did not want to perplex my friend or other guests.  It was even better when she reprimended me once more for not "relaxing my hand."This was my friend and I's very first visit, and we had been ecstatic to try you out.  We are both 8 months pregnant and felt we deserved a pampering experience, mine fell very short of this expectation due to your nail technician.  I would like to add the young girl in front was very sweet and kind, she made my horrible experience somewhat better.  However, your nail technician could truly use some better "bedside manner."  Oh, and my nails are already chipping five hours later. And so I was contacted by Laura herself.  She was very apologetic and told me to please give them another chance with both services being done for free.  Now I attempted to take her up on that offer, but she is apparently not around and her mother Mary spoke with me.  She told me she would not allow me to receive the services for free, but I could get a pedicure for $25, 50% off the price.  I'm sorry, but this was not what I was promised.  I advise everyone, DO NOT GO TO THIS PRETENTIOUS ESTABLISHMENT!  Very poor service and staff members.  Thank you for reading all of this. I was not very impressed with the nail tech and the quality of the work done at Splendor.  It is a gorgeous little salon tucked away in the basement storefront of a building, and the woman at the front was sweet and accommodating, but the nail tech was just too snooty for me.  She had a lot to say about "those other Vietnamese places" yet my no-chip manicure was peeling after just over a week!!  Not much room to talk about other salons when the quality was just not there in a higher end salon.  I give credit where credit is due, my french manicure was beautiful... however it lacked quality when it started lifting and peeling so soon afterwards.I don't think I would go back to Splendor, I'd rather give my money to a salon that has a more down to earth vibe and where the tech doesn't have an "I'm better than you" attitude.Be careful with parking, too.  The majority of the parking is for 30 minutes only.  Be prepared to drive around for awhile until you can find one of the 2 hour parking spots. Great place to go pamper yourself! The staff makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in. You are offered a drink and desert samples they have in for the day and the salon is impeccably clean. I had visited Splendor once prior to purchasing the Living Social deal for a no-chip manicure. I love that this little salon is tucked away in downtown Hinsdale. It feels very girly and as soon as you walk in you can feel relaxation. The staff is friendly, the music is soft and they have a great variety of colors to choose from. I also love that you get to choose between different flavored waters and also get a sweet treat! The only reason I am not giving Splendor 5 stars is that I had booked an appointment for 10 and it took about 20 minutes for my technician to be ready for me. I was a little annoyed since I had only paid my meter for an hour. Other than that, this is a very cute place that I will definitely be back to again. Would be a fun treat for a friend/mom as a gift! I had a wonderful, relaxing experience here last week the day before my vacation. I had a Living Social deal for a no-chip manicure, so I booked an appointment a week in advance just to make sure they weren't booked up. I had no problem getting the date and time that I wanted.When I arrived, I was told that Vilma would be doing my manicure. I was offered a drink and a treat, which was a nice touch. I loved the lavender neck wrap, it smelled fantastic and felt great. But I ended up taking it off halfway through because I got too hot.Vilma did a wonderful job on my nails - everything was perfect! I was lucky enough to purchase a Living Socal voucher for Splendor.  What a great find.  Jen was my technician and she was wonderful.  This is a fantastic salon to pamper yourself.  I love the fact it is natural or gel manicures and pedicures - no buzzing or foul smells.  Beautifully decorated and excellent customer service.  I will be back! My experience at Splendor was not good. They had rebook me due to 'staffing problems' twice! They are charging prices like they are a big name salon but they don't have the customer service to back it up. Very unprofessional! I would definitely not go back. Read Less
