Rude, racist, and bad service. That pretty much sums it up. I went to Nail Time yesterday on a whim; just happened to be walking by. My mother and I picked a color and sat down. It was 2 hours before closing time, but they seemed really intent on trying to rush us out. The manicure/pedicure was pretty terrible - fast and sloppy. Then the kicker came when my mom went to pay. The lady insisted that the tip she was leaving on her card wasn't enough, about 12%. She started shouting, "15% maximum!." My mom calmly asked if she usually discussed employees' tips so openly and that she thought she meant, "minimum." The Korean lady, who I assume is the owner, went on a tirade, shouting that, "in the 21st century, no 10%!" My mother was surprisingly collected throughout the performance and finally said, "Okay, how 'bout, let's leave 15%." Korean owner lady runs the card, and if that wasn't enough, goes up to my mother and in front of the whole shop, asks, "Where you from?" My mother says, "The United States," and the Korean lady starts laughing. She then says, unbelievingly, "Sure! Uh-huh! Where are you from?" My mother was born in Wilmington, IL, a small farming town about 2 hrs south of Chicago. So...my mother says again, "The US., You know, apple pie? America?" and then asks the Korean woman, in attempt to make light of the situation, "Where are you from?" the lady laughs at her again, and says, "Oh yea, me too! America, international country." she then shouts laughingly, to no one, "Sure, America!" The shop was silent afterwards and my mother tried to make conversation with the tech doing her nails, asking her if she'd always worked there. After our nails were painted they let us wait for them to dry for about 5 mintues. My mother got a pedicure and was wearing close-toed heels. But they insisted that she wasn't allowed to take the foam throw-away sandals, and that she wear her heels out. By the time we got to the car, her toe nails were completely smudged and ruined, and the Korean lady had locked the door behind us. I wasn't expecting this, I'm not sure what or who the lady thought we were. We're Latino. Maybe she's afraid of brown? But damn, she treated us rudely. I won't ever come here again, I'll do what I can to tell others to stay away, and I hope that Korean lady learns that, "in the 21st century" racism doesn't fly. Read Less
