I've only been here twice but I'm always treated kindly and with respect. Once you walk in the environment is soothing, they've got relaxing music playing and the place in general is just aesthetically pleasing. The first time I went, I got a French Mani. which lasted longer than when I've gotten it done at other salons and their selection for no chip colors is astonishing. The girls even took some of their own  time to show my friend and I the colors and how they change in different temperatures which I thought was very kind of them. My manicurist, Cindy, was super nice and made conversation with me and also made sure I was pleased with the job asking if I liked it so far or if I wanted something else. I've gone to Astra nails several times for a gel manicure and pedicure. They always do a beautiful and thorough job and the salon is lovely. I was in there once evening around closing and a woman came in asking for a mani-pedi that night since she was going on vacation the next morning and even though they were about to close, they stayed open to accommodate her.My only complaint is that, initially, you could book appointments online, but it looks like they've removed that feature. This spa is close to my home so I decided to give them a try and was well worth it! I had not gotten my nails done in a while because I'm pregnant and scared to inhale all the chemicals but the place did not smell at all and was well ventilated. I got a pedi and long last mani from Bella. She was excellent! Took her time and even gave additional care to my dry heels. I initially had a good experience here but since then my experiences have been consistently poor. They offer very little flexibility for walk-ins and are incredibly unreasonable with appointments. I've also experienced some unpleasant and frankly rude attitudes from people working there. In talking with a few of my friends recently, they also expressed similar experiences at Astra. I, and several of my friends have taken our business elsewhere. There are multiple other quality nail salons in close proximity to choose from. Read Less

We unintentionally came in right towards the end of closing time. Sometimes you don't get treated well because everyone wants to leave when the clock turns.  We were treated very well and the manicurists took their time. My friend got a gel polish and I went with a typical. They both turned out great. My friends lasted several weeks and mine lasted about a week(typical for me). The place is clean and inviting. They had friends on the television and we relaxed easily here. The prices are straightforward and fair. They had a nice selection of polishes and variety of services. I would recommend this place. It wasn't great. My dark purple no-chip didn't cover with two coats and after she was finished I asked her if she could do another coat but it didn't set properly and bubbles oddly. She said it was because it was the third coat ......  and it wasn't Shiny on top- I wasn't surprised when it all peeled off 5 days later. I had a spa pedicure and the older lady doing it didn't have much of an interest in the process and therefor it was disappointing for me to have hot stones with no pressure, foot massages that were lousy and my feet didn't even realize it was a massage and zero work on my ingrown toenails even tho' I politely asked 2x. Perhaps another technician is better. I'll give it smoother chance and update my review if it is better. Read Less

Have passed this place a couple times, thought I'd try it. I've been looking for a new pedi place. This is it! Beautiful location, professional talented staff. For $29 I got an amazing pedicure that lasted about 45 minutes. Included callous work, vanilla sugar scrub and an excellent foot and shoulder massage. Great color selection. Highly recommend. Parking is a little tricky but worth it**wanted to add that I'm a nail tech so needless to say I have really high standards and even at my old regular place I could find something that needed to be improved. I cannot find one complaint about this place. I've already told 10 people about it. Best pedicure I have ever had and the decor is super peaceful. Also like that they have the sheer curtains up. I absolutely love this nail salon. The owners are extremely kind. I have gotten about 5 gel manicures here and they always do a wonderful job that actually lasts for two weeks without chipping ($35). They have a wide range of gel and regular polish colors. The salon is very elegant, with nice massage chairs for pedicures and pretty decor. They keep a relaxing environment by playing classical music and keeping the noise level low inside which I really appreciate. Highly recommended. Read Less

This is my kind of place to go for a relaxing, restorative, and rejuvenating nail experience. I'd post a picture, but my feet are weird...no pedicure could hide that. ;)It is a beautifully decorated, simple and bright, nail salon. When you walk in, you are kindly greeted. It is a quiet place. Not a lot of talking or TV's, etc. Now, let me qualify, I am not a talker...to my hair stylist, cashier at the grocery store, manicurist, etc. Just not. I felt no pressure to hold a witty conversation with some I do not know at all. It was lovely. I closed my eyes, put my head back, and turned to jello.  My mom, who went with me, is a talker. She didn't enjoy the quiet time nearly as much as me. They had lovely cushy chairs to sit in. Ahhhhhh! My mom enjoyed the chair massager. Not my thing. Options for all!The areas are very clean and organized. Of course, The have one use equipment which is standard in my opinion. Their cleaning standards over all were spot on. We both received the deluxe spa pedicure. Plenty of colors to choose from, but not so many it's overwhelming. The ladies who did our pedicures seemed confident and kind. They both did lovely jobs. They take care in what they do. The prices are very reasonable. The parking is street or other public parking in Highwood. We had appointments, but three people walked in for appointments when we were there. This is definitely a repeater. I might just have to get a pedicure more often. I was holding off on reviewing until I experienced more of their services and, well, it's time to let you all in on the big secret: Astra is WONDERFUL!!!1.  Prices are totally reasonable (cheaper than a lot of places in nearby Highland Park)2.  Quality is fantastic.  The nail techs really care about what they're doing.  They're all meticulous.  Their no-chips always last me at least 2 weeks, and I am hard on my nails!.3.  Walk-ins accepted and easy (though this may change as they get more popular)4.  Great variety of services.  I really like how they have a "menu" of different pedicure options for you to choose from.  Sometimes you just need a little extra pampering!!  I've also done no-chip and regular manicures - both were great.  5.  The atmosphere is really lovely.  They have a tv, but no volume.  Sometimes it's on a show, sometimes it's showing an aquarium.  Either way is fine with me - it's relaxing and unobtrusive.  They also have WiFi - ask for the password!  Plenty of comfy massage chairs for pedicures.6.  They are open on Sundays.  Their color selection is a little sparse, but it's gotten better each time I've been - I think it's just a matter of time before it's more complete.  Plus, they always have colors that I like, so it's not really an issue.  That said, if you're super picky about color, you might want to bring your own. God loves me. It's official. I just found THE BEST pedicure on the North Shore located 5 mins from my house! #score I called them on a whim to see if I needed an appointment. I didn't, but I told them to expect me at 6:30 pm. I walked in and immediately felt more relaxed. The décor strikes the perfect balance between modern and elegant. I wanted to try a new place out, as I normally get my nails done at a salon in Highland Park. I am so glad my friend and I went to Astra Nails & Spa for a pedicure. It was hands down the BEST pedicure I have ever gotten. The staff was very kind, the price was reasonable, the scrubs/oils smelled good, and the hot stone felt great. I wanted to try this new place out, as I usually head to Highland Park for my pedicures, but wanted to stay closer to home. A friend and I dropped in for a pedicure. We had a regular pedi, but it felt like a spa pedi - scrub, massage, paraffin/oil for your heals, hot stones etc. It was fantastic. It was also really clean, modern and the staff were super attentive. The price was very reasonable too - cheaper than the places in Highland Park. This is now my local nail spa, I will be back!.
