My 5 yr old had a drop off bday party so I had a few hours (gasp) to myself. I took advantage of getting a much needed pedicure across the street from the bday party location. No one is actually going to see my toes anytime soon (thanks to winter/spring), but regardless I was due for some foot pampering. While I had never been here before, I've walked by on several locations and it's always packed. I had no problem getting an appointment since I called ahead so I'd recommend doing the same. Overall, on par with the other local nail salons I visit. Lots of colors to choose from, clean and friendly nail technicians. My one complaint is that that nail technician rubbed my feet so hard that she actually left me with a blister on the side of my foot. It wouldn't keep me from going back, but I don't think I'd sit in her chair again. I went back to the bday party with pretty pink (hello spring!) toes. When it was time for cake my poor toes were trampled by a group of sugar crazed 5 year olds. Only one toe was ruined and I stopped back into lotus (this time with my daughter in tow) to fix it which was no problem. The nice woman at the front even kept her busy while they fixed me up. I've only visited Lotus nails once, but I plan to return because they're accommodating and clean. The pedicure was very good, although I'm from Texas and accustomed to a 'bigger' massage. -Ha. The no-chip didn't last as long as I'd hoped, but overall the salon cleanliness and customer service will bring me back. Read Less

So sorry to put a bad review here,  i wish i could give a good one.  I went here once and i am not happy with my nails.  My no chip is already falling off after few days only,  the technician filed my manicure very uneven,  i mean people actually tell me my nails look bad. I never had such a bad manicure. I paid more than i usually do. I was always happy w my no chip nails except this time.  Maybe it was just the nail technician that was bad,  i really don't know. It's unfortunate because the place was great,  i liked it and the owners were so sweet.  The wife helped me out so much in picking color. So sorry,  but i am so disappointed. Read Less

LOVE Lotus! I was in the area after working in Highland Park around 3:15 and was in desperate need for a mani. I called and asked if they could take me at 3:30 and there was no problem at all, considering it was so last-minute. The place is nice; very clean and I love the bar they have where clients sit. It gives the place a modern and urban look. As soon as I walked in the door the staff was friendly and welcoming. There was no wait and I was in the chair getting my manicure before I knew it. Unfortunately, I do not recall the name of the lady who did my nails. She was pleasant and accomplished exactly what I wanted. My manicure lasted eight days! I was so pleased with it. Prices are affordable, place is enjoyable, and the nail services are great. Wish we had a Lotus in Kenilworth; bummer it is in Highland Park. Would certainly come back if I am in the area. Read Less

I am now converted. This place is clean, a great value, the staff is friendly, clean,  awesome amount of colors, accommodating, convenient, and did I say clean?The staff is amazing. Last time I was here, there was an older woman in a wheel chair. (long story... but worth it) She came with her caregiver. The staff pulled up a special chair so her care giver could sit right next to her. Then the young man at the front desk came and gave her a bottle of polish. He said I had to order this special. I know you want this color and the manufacturer has discontinued it. He said here is this one bottle. I will try to get some more for you. Meanwhile, they all doted on her. It really warmed my heart to see how nice everyone was. Eventually the gentleman came back and said he couldn't find anymore, but he would continue to try. My goodness, such effort for a bottle of nail polish! So back to ME! They are also nice to me (and everyone who walks in there). I have had several different manicurists work on me and they are all very good.I also love that they have big TVs with the food channel on. I'm not one for chit-chat, and this makes my 30 minutes fly by.They have a great mani-pedi deal on Mondays and Tuesdays ($40).As Elaine said in her review, it's not a "luxury" spa-like place. Love the massage chairs here!! What an amazing bonus to the pedicure experience. They have OPI and essie products, among others, and the color selection is good. I'm from Highland Park and my parents still live there, so I have been to Lotus more than a few times. Each time I've had a wonderful experience.The space is very clean and well-decorated. Also, they for some reason play a lot of mid-2000s pop and alternative, and between that and the act of being in Highland Park, it's like high school all over again ;). Overall, the manicures last for quite a while and are well done. Adding to how great this place is the fact that the people who work here are so nice. They do not rush you and are genuinely friendly. It didn't take long for many of the Lotus employees to learn my name, even though I'm probably there less often than other customers! It shows how they really appreciate their customers, I'd say. I like this place.  I can't say that I love it.  It's not what I would call luxury or exceptional.  They do a fine job.  I have come here a couple of  times now for a pedicure.  On my most recent visit I brought my adult daughter with me.  They were able to give us both pedicures at the same time which was convenient.  I only wish that they would spend just a bit more time on the leg massage part. The location is kept very clean which of course is important.  The massage chairs that you sit in for the pedicures are really nice.Though it was the very end of March during this visit we were still in the midst of the polar vortex so boots were still the footwear of choice.  They were really great when it came time to leave by wrapping our toes in plastic so the fresh polish wouldn't be destroyed. Wonderful customer service and work!!I love this place! I am usually there for a weekly manicure with my two year old daughter. The staff is so accommodating and great with my toddler! I have never written a review before on Yelp but after an excellent experience today, I feel that I have to share!  I went in to Lotus after hearing so many great reviews and it did not disappoint.  Everyone there was friendly, attentive and took excellent care of the customers.  They even handed out little Christmas gifts!  Even though it is pricier than some other places, I would definitely go back just for the great service.  Debbie was great!2.5 weeks later my nails look as good as when I got them done the first day! LOVEEE getting my nails did and this place is close to work so why not try it even though I'm very loyal to my nail lady in Deerfield. I was given a gift card for a mani and pedi over the holidays, so I decided it was time, it was time to cheat on my nail lady.. Luckily it was only a one time thing, well unless I'm given another gift certificate, than that will be a whole other rendezvous. Here are some observations of this place:-Ambiance wise, it could be sexier. Bong Spa in HP for example appears cleaner, more modern and trendier so Lotus can definitely use a little makeover.-The mani I got here was just a okay, I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. However, I didn't like the high stool I sat on during the whole experience so that was kinda eh. The lady also didn't paint my nails perfectly like I would have loved, but oh well, it was okay.-So thus far with the mani and the overall atmosphere and experience, I'd say it's just 2-3 stars at most, but wait, wait till the pedi. I have to say, and shhh, hopefully my nail lady from Deerfield doesn't read this, it is the BEST pedi I've had in my life and I've been through my share of salons and nail techs. Wow, it was amazing, not the cheapest, but so worth it. My feet felt amazing afterwards, she used multiple scrubs on them and they have never felt better. I wanted to show off my feet to the world. -Overall, skip the mani and get the Pedi, I need to remember the name of the lady who does the best pedi's but she was wow, oh so incredible. I will definitely come back (with a giftcard) or maybe even by myself just for that 45 minutes of extreme pleasure for my feet. Trust me, your toes will thank you afterwards. She* asked me to pick out my color (a lovely subdued lilac-grey by Essie) and sat me down for a detailed, didn't-leave-any-prisoner-cuticles-behind manicure. Serious business, which I loved, and sans hand massage, which I missed. Sure, it's $15 versus most $12 city manicures, but my digits looked polished not merely painted. Of the many salons on the North Shore, Lotus is among my favorites. They are clean and accommodating, and they do a great job. The atmosphere is calming and they don't overdo things. And, to top it all off, the prices are great! Read Less
