Most of the time, anywhere else I go for a reg. manicure, polish starts to chip away in 2 or 3 days, but at NorthShore Nails, I can count on them to last without chipping for at least 5/6 days. I got a same day email offer for a no chip manicure and pedicure for $65 special and the timing was good because it was so overdue! Anyway I had been here once before for a microdermabrasion that I got on Groupon and so they had me on their email distribution list. I arrived on a Thursday after work and was the only client there.  She took care of my pedicure first while soaking my no chip polish.  The pedicure was good but they don't really seem to have sanitary standards like some other salons I've seen.  For example, it was just a cup with light colored blue water. Not covered and not separately stored.  My no chip is when the trouble came..  she struggled to take off my polish and asked me what I had on my nails, what brand it was, where did I get it, etc. in what I perceived to be a deflection of her problem of removal.  She was so rough on myNails, that she broke one of my nails and my fingers were red and sore.  I didn't think she used enough acetone and suggested that but she was defensive and not taking ownership for the problem.Update- I got this no chip on Thursday night and today is Sunday, barely 3 days later...  I have not been doing anything very vigorous with my nails, soaking them in water, etc... an entire nail just came up. I came here with two friends for a girls night out. We took advantage of the deal they have for both classic manicure and pedicure for $35 (Mondays and Tuesdays) which was a really good deal for what we got. Lilly, Shimmy and Abby were all great. Shimmy liked to start conversation with us, Abby was so nice and careful with everything she did, helping us unroll our pants after the pedicure, helping with jackets and asking if everything was ok. Lilly did s really good job shaping and painting my nails but she was more quiet.. she seemed a little rushed (I was the first to be done) and didn't ask many questions about how I was doing .. she did, not not as naturally or as much as Abby and Shimmy. I think she maybe just needs a little more confidence. She did a great job regardless. They gave each of us s small back and shoulder massage while we were waiting for our nails to dry which I have never had done before! It was a nice extra touch.. although it's a very small place, things were organized and clean.I couldn't give 4.5 stars but I would rather give 5 than 4 but my only complaint is that when I asked if I could go together with my three friends they said yes but left out the fact that we would not all be seated together. My mani and pedi from here were perfect! The nail tech did an amazing job on my cuticles and didn't cut me at all (I almost always get cuts no matter what).  The atmosphere is very relaxing with instrumental music playing. They don't have a tv with shows running like some places, but it's a good spot to go relax and turn off your mind for a bit. Read Less

Started at Northshore almost 2 years ago with a groupon. Haven't gone anywhere else since. I get a bio- chip manicure and classic pedicure once a month and a facial every few months. I just got a no chip mani with regular pedicure. My pedicure was done by Sarah. She seemed nice but as soon as began, I knew my experience was not going to be good. She did not clip my toes, only filed them down. She was filing so hard that I thought my nail was going to fall off. Then while she was cutting my cuticles, she cut too much of my skin off so I was bleeding but did not apologize and continued to put scrub and alcohol on my toes. Once I told her I was in pain and looked at my toe, she apologized. By this time I knew my toes would not have a good paint job on it and once The pedicure was over, I took a picture of my toes. I was disappointed because I thought this was going to be a nice relaxing experience for me. My toes looked like a hot mess. There was nail polish on my skin, my toes were not completely painted, and the shape of my toes don't look nice. Not only did she do a horrible job, she forgot to massage and put lotion on my legs/toes so I feel like I didn't not get the full experience of a pedicure. This is the worst pedicure I have ever gotten in my life!When the receptionist asked me how my pedicure was, I was honest and told him that she made my toe bleed and he suggested that my toes were just very sensitive. I have never had a pedicure done where the technician made me bleed. I was clearly upset but nothing was done to rectify the situation. Luckily I had Angela for my no chip manicure after my pedicure which was a pleasant experience. However, while I was getting my nails done, another lady complained about Sarah (the technician who did my toes) and demanded another technician. I went here for the first time the other day and I was so impressed! The staff is incredibly nice and they make you feel very comfortable! The added touches like the warm shoulder wrap during the manicure and letting you choose peppermint/chamomile/etc to put in the pedicure water are really nice as well! I will definitely be back! I took my almost 6 year old for her first mani/pedi not exactly knowing if she could handle the wait time. Not only did she do amazing but the staff was exceptional with her. I have been to North Shore Nails and Day Spa on multiple occasions and they are always wonderful. The massages are fantastic and the new quick dry nail polish is amazing. So worth it for $5 more. I went with Groupon for a mani/pedi. Lilly did a nice job, but the place is very cramped, especially the station to dry your nails. The pedi chairs do not massage. They offer a heated pad on your shoulders during the mani. Lilly recommended a cuticle product which I bought. It was worth the Groupon price, but would not pay their original asking price of $50. The manicurist seemed to be a diverse group so they weren't speaking a foreign language to one another like you find in so many other places. Read Less

You better hope that everything goes exactly according to plan and there are no circumstances outside your control, like half a dozen car crashes on the highway because it's drizzling, because these people don't care at all and won't reschedule even if you reasonably call ahead to inform them of all of the above. Also the "manager" sounds like a ditzy receptionist I would've fired. Guess I'll stick to places I know in the future. I have been to Northshore Nails and Day Spa numerous times for various services. The pedicures are good - all technicians have done a nice job. No-chip manicures are good, but they take almost twice as long as anywhere else. But they do last. I've also had waxing done here, and that was also well-done. We highly enjoy all of the staff who are friendly and make us feel at home when we come in to have our nails done (especially my 93 year old grandmother!). I've been going here regularly for 3 years. I've had a number of services from basic manicures, no-chip manicures, organic no-chip manicures and pedicures to facials and massages. Each has been fantastic. They have an educated and polite staff that would never make a customer feel as though they are being talked about.
