I've been going to this salon for over 6 years and have not had one bad experience. The quality and service is always consistent and the staff is very friendly. They do their best to accommodate everyone, even when busy. My no-clip manicures last longer than any other salon I've been to and they have reasonable prices. I have only been treated with kindness and respect at this salon. All nail salons that I know of take walk-ins so I expect to wait even if I make an appointment, it's just the way it is. There is the option of calling before you go to see if the wait will be to long for you. My experience at this salon has been nothing but excellent. The negative reviews have me puzzled. There is such a wide margin of 5 stars and 1 star reviews it kinda of makes me think that maybe their competitors have put these people up to the 1 star reviews. I have been to many salons in the area and this is by far the best one I have been to. James, Mimi and Helen are all excellent at what they do. My daughters and I have been clients of Pretty Nails for years. We are always warmly greeted by name and the salon is clean and welcoming. James and Mimi do a wonderful job. We constantly receive compliments on our nails. They do the cutest nail art, too. Our family went to Disney World and James and Mimi had so much fun painting Mickey designs which turned out awesome. Have been waiting now for over an hour. Kept being told "it won't be long" as the only available tech kept doing other customers knowing I was sitting waiting to be seen. Came with a friend, we were both sat atstations at the same time, an hour later hernails are almost finished and I was just asked "what color I needed." Thanks, but I had somewhere to be an hour & a half after arriving and don't have time now, but at least the other people waiting after me were assisted. The place across the street next to the Starbucks is where I normally go and 100000x better, the only reason I came here today was bc my normal place is closed. Won't make that mistake again. I work in the salon industry & understand being busy but an hour long wait when being told it will only be a few minutes is ridiculous. Read Less

This place is RIDICULOUS! I went in to get a full set acrylic... Not that hard. Well the guy the whole time tried to get me to get the gel nails I insisted no a thousand times and then he had to think about the prices so I know he was just making something up because​ I wouldn't pay more for the gel. I asked for matte topcoat which apparently they charge an extra $4 for! Which he also didn't tell me until after he started my nails because he knew that was the whole reason I went there! Now one day later I have no matte coat, he must have used an empty bottle and thought I wouldn't notice NEVER EVER GO HERE! THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY AND DONT EVEN DO A GOOD JOB! Read Less

To all my ladies who get there nails done.. NEVER and I mean NEVER go get them done at Pretty Nails in Fox Lake. In all my years of getting my nails done I've Never and I mean NEVER dealt with such rude service and I also think they were kind of racist as well. I called before hand and they seemed very nice but when I got in the door it was anything but a friendly environment. When I walked into the door they didn't speak to me at all they just told me to sit down in the 3rd ...chair. When I did the lady walked over and started to do my nails without saying a word. I believe her name was Mimi. I started to tell her how I liked them and she kept rolling her eyes at me. I should've left then but I said screw it. Then I told her I like coffin shaped and she proceeded to do it her way. 3 times I told her that's not how I liked it and then I was like it's fine (while still smiling).Her husband or who ever he is butted in and was like well show her a picture then since you're being picky. And I said of course I'm picky because I'm paying for my nails. So she started to shape them and then I noticed my thumb was crooked. I told her it was crooked and she was like your nails was always like that.... lies. My nails have never been crooked. I started to notice I was the only one who they were being rude to. I looked around and they were smiling and acknowledging other customers but with me they were rude. I've never and I mean NEVER throw the race card around but It just didn't make any sense. Also they yelled at me to pay before services was even rendered and I noticed everybody else was paying after. It baffled me how they were nice on the phone but when they see me they were automatically rude. The last straw was when she finished my nails and didn't put the top coat. I asked for the top coat and the husband butted in and said I needed to wait so I calmly grabbed my stuff and walked out. Yes I'm stupid for staying as long as I did but that was my fault and hey they were able to get 30 bucks off of me but I would never go back. AWFUL service!  Came here two months ago for a no chip fill in. 2 days after, the supposed no chip polish came completely off. Tried again 3 days ago for my wedding day. For a full set of gel nails with no chip polish. An hour after leaving, the no chip polish began bubbling off. Then today (3 days after getting the full set of on)the nails just randomly started popping off. Pretty sure they are supposed to last longer than 3 days! Not to mention between the two times I've been there the prices are ALWAYS different. Seems to me to be a rip off and they are not good at all at what they do. The owners James and Mimi have an amazing team of professionals that do an amazing job.  I have been going to Pretty Nails in Fox Lake since they opened several years ago.  Of all of the other nail salons in this area, as well as the northwest suburban locations, I have found this Fox Lake location to be superior in cleanliness, friendliness, as well as the overall look and feel of the salon rates very high on my list!  The pedicures, manicures as well as No chip excels in the industry.  I am constantly complimented on my fingers and toes and can't believe that after two weeks they still look as lovely as the day I walked out of the salon.  Although they take walk in's because of the numbers of clients that go there, it may be in your best interest to make an appointment so they are able to accommodate your schedule when you arrive.  Ellie Read Less

Rude.  I put my name on the waiting list after they told me it would only be 15 to 20 minutes before I could get a pedicure. I told them I was going right next-door to get some soup.  I was gone for maybe 10 minutes. I came back and sat down and I was sitting there waiting for another 15 minutes before I realized that they they had taken everyone on the list after me in my absence and it was going to be at least another 15-20 min. before they could get around to me again.  Courtesy dictates telling a person they missed their turn because you flipped everyone quicker than you thought.  I could have gone elsewhere instead of sitting there thinking I'm  next.
