I walked in without an appointment and they right away took me in. They were very friendly and nice. They take their time but it's worth it. They do a great job. First time here...and it won't be the last!  Had an appt to get a pedi only, since manis never last more than a day for me. I'm on the computer 8 hrs a day, and my polish tends to chip very easily.  Well, luckily Amy told me about their no-chip mani, and I decided to give it a try.  It's been about 2 weeks, and my nails look like I just got them done yesterday!  Amy was awesome, very thorough, took her time to make sure my mani/pedi was perfect.  Thanks again and see you soon! Busy place but he fit me in for a no-chip full just 1/2 hour or less before closing without an appointment!  One of the things that makes this place extra great is that he is SO interesting to talk with. He has a wonderful in-site aquarium and is extremely knowledgeable about fish also having his own koi pond at home. This makes for better than the usual weather and family conversation if you're easily bored during nails :-). On top of that he does a spectacular job on the nails. Confident, quick and efficient. First time going and they saw me right away. Super convenient because I can walk across the street. Got a pedicure from Maya who is not only sweet, but she does amazing work. Peter was great! He fit me in without an appointment even though they seemed pretty busy, he gave me a no chip manicure, and it turned out beautifully! I love coming to Amys Nails!! I have been to MANY nails salons in the des plaines area & although some might look fancier, at Amys the work speaks for itself. I  always go in for acrylic nails & I have never been unhappy. The nails don't feel stiff or stuck to the sides of my fingers like they have at other salons & I never have a problem with running my fingers thru my hair & feeling like it's getting stuck. I called my normal nail salon for an appointment but couldn't get in for several days - no big deal, I was just off of work early and really wanted to get my nails done.  I found Amy's Nails online and decided to give them a call.  They were able to get me in in the next 15 minutes, so I headed on over and wow, I'm so glad I decided to try them.  I got my acrylics filled in, and I have to say my nails look immaculate, not to mention the technician took only half the time my normal salon does, plus they were cheaper.  I'm really happy I found this place.  Although I have only gone the one time and can't vouch for all of the technicians, mine did a fabulous job.  I'm not sure what another reviewer was talking about in regards to the place being outdated, because I thought the atmosphere was nice, and everything was clean.  I'll definitely be going back! I'm writing this under my fiancé account, although for the awful experience tonight I should have the motivation to create an account.I made an appointment for 530 for a no chip manicure. I arrived early not expecting to be taken. But I was not helped until 550. The owner(male) finally told me to go to some other woman. She was very friendly and started my manicure. Not even a minute or two into the session, some "regular"must have walked in. So I was told to move back to the owner. My no-chip was not good, it looked like I did it myself. I even commented during, that the polish doesn't look right and he told me sometimes pastel colors look like that. Hmmm... Not true! This is not my first no-chip. This one hour of my life was not relaxing or worth 35 bucks! I have been to this place many times years ago. But the quality of this place went down! Just when i thought my night could not get any worse the male owner charged me twice when I checked my bank account!!! So please do not waste your time ever going here! Very old place with a need to remodel, clean and improve ventilation - the smell of nail polish was way too strong, have never had that in other salons. Went here only because other salons were closed on Tuesdays. My tech did not shape my nails well and did not apply my nail polish straight along the edges.  Just overall a disappointing experience! Very disappointed by one of their newer employees. I used to go to Amy's all the time and stopped going a couple years ago because I was able to do my own nails. However, with New Year's coming up, I decided to go get them professionally done by my all time favorite place. I had a new lady doing my nails. I told her I'm going to a New Year's party and I want my nails to be black and gold. I even showed her two pictures I found and said that my nails didn't have to be exactly like the pictures and that these were just ideas. When she was done with my nails, they had a black base and gold glitter glooped on them. Something that I COULD'VE DONE MYSELF WITHOUT PAYING $30! Amy's Nails is great! They do take walk-ins but I highly recommend making an appointment. Every time I go to Amy's it's packed! The service is great and technicians are extremely friendly. If I told you who my technician is, I wouldn't be able to get an appointment, so I'm not going to tell you. ;)It's by far my favorite nail salon in the Des Plaines area! Read Less

Seriously, how can this place have so many stars????  One week after my pedicure the paint was chipping, and it had "grown out" making it look like a 3 week old pedicure!Also note if you want to tip your stylist, you must do it in cash, they will not let you put tip on a debit/credit card! I live close by, so Amy's nails always seems like a convenient choice. Never is. The only reason why I'm giving two stars instead of one is because I love one of technicians named Oka... The nail polish choices are horrible, I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about. Barely any Essie and mostly old. The place is in need of a remodel. I came in for an appointment at 930 for a manicure and toe polish change. My technician, Jennifer, was extremely irritated and rushed through my toe polish change and sent me to the drying station to wait for someone to come for my mani. 25 minutes later, Amy asks if I still needed a manicure. Obviously ! At this point I had to go so I asked for a polish change instead. Amy was apologetic, but the damage was done!Do not take appointments if you cannot take your clients accordingly. It is rude and unprofessional. Upkeep your salon and provide your clients with better polish choices, not dried ones that you constantly fill with paint thinner. I wish I could love this place because its down the street and Oka is fantastic. Head to Nail Bliss in des plaines instead. Beautiful space, similar prices, great color and service options and professionalism that is unparalleled. Amy's Nails is my favorite mani/pedi nail salon. The owners Peter and Amy get to know all of their customers and are super friendly. The salon is very clean and has a HUGE selection of OPI colors to choose from. Plus they always get in the newest shades.  Once you go to Amy's, any other nail salon won't compare! Read Less

My first time here and it was a pleasant experience. Had my no chip mani & pedi done by Amy. She was kind and nice. The salon is clean and tools/equipments are sterile (very important). I actually work in the spa/ salon industry, and I still love coming to Amy's.  I've probably been coming here about 10 years now.  Peter is great for acrylics (i used to wear them in high school) and I love manicures and pedicures from Amy and Kim.Amy's is far above other nail "chop shops", and I believe their service can compete with a higher end spa-type manicure place.  The service is superb and since they moved from their former location (in the same plaza, just moved a few doors down) the new pedicure chairs are awesome!!  They offer the new no-chip manicure for about $30, which is fairly inexpensive for this new and very popular service.Their stuff is SO CLEAN, they even use one of those dental autoclaves that sterilizes their tools and then seals them in a hygenic package.  Amy's always goes above and beyond, and they are far above being just a "neighborhood nail place".  They are some of the best around. I've lived here 2-1/2 years and haven't been that fond of the nail places I've been to and they have been more expensive than I've cared to pay.  I drove by this place and decided to stop and try them out.  They were extremely friendly, they were busy though they were able to fit me in and the price was great for a pedicure and manicure.  They are clean and they used utensils that were sanitized and were sealed in packages.  They are my new nail salon.
