I don’t like to be Negative Nelly on here...but hopefully I can prevent someone else from having a similar experience to this. I had my first (EVER) set of acrylics put on a couple of months ago (somewhere else). I’ve had one fill (somewhere else) and today it was time to have them taken off and to start over. I decided to try out Star Nails in South Shores. They opened at 9:30am and I arrived as a walk in just shortly after. The woman took toe nail clippers to pull my nat...ural nails away from the acrylic at the tips. Then she took an artificial nail tip and ran it underneath the acrylic and ripped them away from my natural nails. It was painful! I was wincing in pain. I thought for sure she was going to rip off my natural nails as well! She asked if I wanted my natural nails cut off. I chuckled and said yes. Because HELLO...the tips were completely ragged and torn after what she had just done! There was no saving them whatsoever. Then, she got up and an older man sat down to do the next part (whatever that might have been). When I looked at his hands, there was dried up BLOOD all over one of his palms!!! I pointed it out to him and he said it was just nail color. I told him “No, that’s blood.” and then he said “Oh,my.” He then got up and went to the back to wash his hands. He came back and took a straight edge razor and started scraping stuff off from the manicure table. (Why was he doing this in front of a customer???) At that point, I picked up my phone and pretended to read something. I said that something had come up and I had to leave. I thought hey, I’ll leave them $5 for their “troubles.” But the original lady walked over and asked what was wrong. I told her something had come up and I had to leave. She said “Okay, $10.” I thought REALLY!?!? $10 for painfully ripping my nails off!?!? Whatever. I paid the $10 and left. That was a horrible experience.
