The first rule of a steakhouse is make sure that if nothing else is perfect, the steaks are. Somehow, I think that rule escapes the chef here. But I will at least start with the positives. The wait staff: Pleasant enough. I had some issues with dinner and they were quick, albeit a touch reluctant, to correct the problems. No argument when I had to send something back, and an issue with my drink was subsequently comped. The food: the steak was seasoned well and the salad was okay. I think it would have been better if the lettuce were dry so that the dressing could actually stick to it. Unfortunately, those were the high points. The bad:Atmosphere: this place is small, so there is no reason to have the music so loud that it is distorted coming from the speakers. The music also needs to have clean content Especially at brunch. They should have installed small speakers throughout the space so that everyone can hear the music without the people sitting closest to the dance floor getting blasted out. Drinks: really? No refills on soft drinks? Let me describe how bad that is. Soda syrup comes in what is known as a "bib". At worst, a 5 gallon bib will cost $50. A short bit of math later, we find that for a 12 ounce highball glass with ice, it equates to roughly a 320% profit as with ice, you only really get about 8oz. So it wouldn't kill them to offer at least 1 refill to diners. Or if you don't offer refills, then at least make sure that your CO2 is working. Oh, and our water glasses were not refilled either.Food: How does a steakhouse not get steak temps right? I'll tell you. Thin steaks. Mid-rare steaks will continue cooking well past the intended temp when they are resting when they are thin. They need to focus on thick-cut steaks so that even if they are slightly over, then the customer still gets what they want. The other entrees were just as bad - Loaded mashed potatoes tasted like they come from a box of instant mashed. They were gritty and did not hold any form. The fettucine was the same - tasted like it was instant noodles and sauce. And that's a travesty, because with a bit more attention to detail and a push for standards and fresh food, this place could really be something. The catfish looked good -- I admittedly didn't try it, but I was disappointed that we got one small fillet for $13. Overall: There are a LOT of issues, including the bathrooms which were in such a state of disrepair that I felt dirtier leaving the bathroom than I did entering it. (FYI: You should not smell the bathrooms out in the main dining room. That is just bad for business.) Perhaps the business would just be better off as a bar instead of trying to be a bar and steakhouse. No second chances for this place unless there are drastic changes. Read Less
