AWESOME nail salon. I went in during a weekday afternoon and the place was nearly empty - seems like not many people have discovered this hidden gem. The woman who did my nails was super quick and nice when she was doing my gel manicure, and I was out of the salon within 45 minutes and it only cost $30! This is my favorite nail shop in Chicago! I moved a block away in October and was looking for a little pick-me-up and found my way into Nail Story for the $35 Mani-Pedi (Mon-Wed). I was so pleased the first time I went and ever since! I even get my eyebrows waxed here. I've had such pleasant experiences every time. The staff is warm and professional. The care they take in a simple mani-pedi really elevates the experience to superstar status! Due to their excellent service, they're often very busy, so call ahead to figure out their wait time or make an appointment. My nails last awhile, even without no-chip. Now everyone knows how hard it is to find a nail place so I went out on a limb and decided to try Nail Story. So glad I did because I have been a customer now for 2 years. They impressed me from the get! They were so friendly and warm. They offer you cold or hot drinks as well as snacks. They have a wide variety of different nail colors as well as no chip brands. They do not do any acrylic nails though so fair warning! They really take their time with their work. They have this amazing hot lavender oil they soak your feet in while getting a pedicure that really makes all the difference. They put these hand masks on your hands while doing your manicure. It's these small things that have won me over. They also give you a mini massage that is sometimes a little awk but I'll take what I can get! I haven't even gotten to the best part yet. They have a rewards program. WHO DOES THIS? No one that I know of. How awesome? It comes in handy too and pretty quick since getting manis and pedis can run you quite a bit. Came in for a pedicure because i was in the area. The pedicure was the most basic/mediocre pedicure I've ever had in my life!! It literally took less than 15 minutes (minus the polishing). At the end before she polished my toes, i had to ask her to go back and finish cutting my cuticles because they looked untouched. I probably won't come back again. Read Less

I selfishly don't want to review Nail Story because I don't want my secret to get out! This place does a killer no chip for $30, I swear I could go construct a house and my nails wouldn't chip. I've gone here for   a while now and always get a consistent experience/quality mani despite who I get. I'm typically able to walk in, but there can definitely be a wait during peak hours when everyone's getting off work. They have a nice waiting area with stocked snacks, coffee, and La Croix. Overall nice facilities and no neon bright white lights like other nail salons!Also, big fan of the membership which is free to join... you get a discount no chip on your bday and you also get 10% of what you spend each trip added to your account that you can use at a later time! My daughter treated me to a luxury pedicure. The hygiene practices are first class. ( sterilised instruments etc) All the staff are very professional, welcoming and friendly. I'm writing this 2 weeks after my no-chip, and it still hasn't budged! Except for the natural nail growth, the manicure looks as good as it did the day I got it. This is a completely new experience for me, I've never had one last more than a week.They do an optional shoulder massage after your manicure, so bring a good cash tip! Read Less

I just got the most precise, detailed no chip mani ever! The pedicure (and leg rub) was great, too! I will definitely be returning. I even joined for free as a member. For 60$ I got a pedi, a great leg rub, paraffin for my heels, a hot green tea, a PERFECT no chip mani, plenty of moisturizer, 3 hot towels, and even a minute or two of a powerful shoulder massage. Everything was clean, the ambiance was very relaxing and they played hgtv the whole time. The only upgrade would be if they got gold chrome powder ....but, I mean, that's not a make or break kind of thing. I probably have to go to wicker park for that. Read Less

Great place to get a mani/pedi if you are on a budget. They have a lot of chairs & technicians, I was able to walk-in and get right in. Recommend going Mon-Wed as they have discounted rates (I received a mani+pedi for $35). My experience and treatment was comparable to other nail salons in the area. Only reason for removing a star is that the woman doing my pedicure used too much pressure when filing my calluses & caused an abrasion on my foot. I'm super happy that my other nail salon was busy today because a friend actually told me to come here instead and it was 10x better than my other place, so now I have a new place to go in LP. It's conveniently right off the Diversey train stop and they got me in on a Tuesday night without an appointment though it was pretty busy. They offer you snacks and drinks and the experience was overall really enjoyable. I thought they did a great job too and prices were super reasonable. Really happy I found a new spot! Their work was fine but I am really not a fan of their "system". In the middle of the mani  (before color was done), the technician asked me to make payment, including tip. Hello?! You have not even performed the service and I'm supposed to just tip? Based on what, a job half done? I am going back to my old salon. It's a shame - I was hoping this works out since it's at a very convenient location.***update: Julie, your reply made me realize I should have made myself clearer in my initial review: it's not just the tipping before the end of service that made me uncomfortable, it was also the fact I was expected to make the FULL payment before my nails were done. This is the first nail salon that asked me to do that. I guess I've only been to five salons since I moved to Chicago so my sample might not be big enough, but this practice is not the norm/reasonable in this line of business by my experience. I got a manicure here once, and it was decent. I recently decided to give them another shot. I decided to come here today for my birthday mani/pedi. HUGE MISTAKE. The girl doing my pedi ("Etta") literally literally literally FLEW through my pedi in exactly 11 minutes. I swear to God. I was beyond disgusted. There were people seated and getting pedis before I got here, and yet they were still seated getting pedis by the time I was checking out. I refused the mani on the grounds of the pedi being so rushed and hasty. Never coming back. When I moved to the area last summer, lucky for me, Nail Story just happened to be less than two blocks away from my place. I wandered in one afternoon in search of a new go-to nail salon, and I found it in Nail Story! They're always very friendly, remember regulars' names, and do a fantastic job! My no chip manicures consistently last 3-4 weeks. Everywhere else I've tried in the area could not hold a candle to the service I receive here. Nail Story has always had a spot available for me as a walk-in, whether it be in the middle of the week or a Saturday afternoon.  They have a wide variety of no-chip colors to choose from, and include a collagen hand mask with a manicure and parafin heel treatment with a pedi.  Always a pleasant experience and great pricing as well! The pedicure is really good value for money but the quality fluctuates depending on who does it!! Some staff are delightful and some are downright rude.I personally find it incredibly ill mannered when staff are giving treatments to be shouting to each other in their own language across the salon and smirking.
