I was visiting Chicago and staying in a nearby hotel and stubbed my toe on a desk, which broke my toenail and messed up another one's polish. I was considering walking to a wall greens to get a nail file and polish, but this salon was closer so I decided to give it a try. Mia stayed late to do my pedicure and I'm so glad! So let me preface with I have now added MJs into my monthly budget (meaning bi-weekly)! I was looking for mani/pedi services within my community and when I read the Yelp reviews for this business, I thought this was perfect. Well, let me just say there are not enough stars to rate this business. I felt welcomed from the moment I walked in the door. All of the stylist were busy and very friendly and Mia is adorable. She was personable and a great conversationalist but she was so focused on her trade. It's been years since I've had these services where I didn't feel rushed. On My Stylist: Tequila (Tee) is my stylist and she is amazing!!! She made the move to MJ2 after her time at Salon Pressure. Since day 1, Tee has always greeted me with a smile and welcomed me with open arms. Not only is she a kind person, but is a go-to person for hair care and maintenance. Some stylists are just "stylists" and can forget about the "hair care" aspect of the salon, but Tee is great at both! She's not afraid to say " I think you need a cut today" or "I'll leave you under the steamer a little bit longer, because your hair feels dry." Especially with someone with natural hair, it's important that I have a good hair care routine. On top of her being a great stylist, Tee is probably one of the most accommodating schedulers! I cannot tell you how many times I have booked an appointment last minute or have asked to be seen before or after hours. In summary, there has never been a day where I don't leave the Salon feeling like Beyonce! ^_^On The Salon: Clean and friendly atmosphere. Gina is my stylist. I followed her here from another salon.  She is the best! Overall, this salon seems to be pretty nice. I see a lot of the same faces come back here often, and I come here a lot. It's in a nice location. The atmosphere inside is really nice as well. They offer nail services and wax and threading services too. I love the atmosphere, expertise and caring demeanour provided by Tequila Renee. I typically have a weekly appointment but whenever missed and styled by someone else at another salon it's always a disappointment. She is the only stylist that keeps my hair healthy and full of bounce without chemicals. Whether it's a wash and style, weave or braid style Tequila Renee is the hottest stylist in the south loop. If anyone asks me for a salon recommendation, MJ2 would be my suggestion. The south loop location is great, the interior is modern and comfortable and the stylists are very friendly. JoJo is my stylist and she has really helped transform my hair from being dry and brittle, to now being healthy and bouncy. Not to mention, she just gave me awesome highlights, just in time for the summer. I was so nervous because it was my first color and I didn't want to risk any damage. JoJo took the time to examine my hair and she made the best recommendation that worked for me and my hair type...and I am very pleased. As a matter of fact, I now want even more color! Lol!! So on my most recent trip home to Chicago I needed to get my hair done quickly, I looked around and found MJ2 was close by and opened. BEST DECISION Ever!!!!! Jo did my hair and she even convinced me to let her trim it which i'm usually very apprehensive about. But i must say she did an excellent job and 4 weeks later its still doing well and holding my style better than ever. I think its growing a little too. She was very patient and used top notch products. GIve them a try!!!I didn't get my nails done but i saw the lady doing a pedicure on another client and she was very detailed. I have been going to Mia, one of the co-owners for years.  When she told me her and Jo Jo were opening a salon, I was so excited for the two of them.  The decor is great, the vibe is cool and their timeliness is what other salons lack.  Mia is great and the only person I go to for pedicures.I have also had my hair done by Carri.  She's a rookie stylist, but she has skills and as she continues to grow will be a force in the hair business.Mia and Jo Jo work well together, are friendly and have a welcoming spirit.  If you have not been, check them out! I've been going to Jo for few years now and she's taken excellent care of my hair.  The criteria I care about most when evaluating a stylist are: 1) Healthy hair care techniques2) Affordability3) Respecting my time (if you've ever spent more than 4 hours in the shop for a service that should only take 2 - 2.5  hours, you can appreciate this)4) Clean/comfortable/professional environmentJo gets top marks on all of the above.  Jo is a professional who cares about all the same things I do when it comes to taking care of my hair (mindful of heat, gentle styling and uses great products). Jo listens to my concerns, and gives me her professional opinion.  She also knows how to care for a variety of different hair types.  I've been to a number of different stylists in the chicago area.  I used to stick with one for a few months, while still continuing the search. My search finally ended with Jo. I don't feel like I have to trade off/compromise on any of the things I want and need from a stylist with Jo.  In addition to being a great stylist, Jo is also a very genuine person and typically goes beyond what is expected to help out her clients.  I recommended my mother - in - law to Jo a few weeks ago when her stylist cancelled on her at the last minute.  Jo got her in, in less than 24 hours, and she was very pleased with the service (she has short, natural hair, which she had washed, blown dry, and curled), and said she would definitely be back.   On another occasion, my 15 year old sister was visiting and we decided to get her hair done.  We went in for a consultation (on short notice) and after talking with Jo, decided that a cut and then braids would be the best option for the health of my sisters hair, as well as a style that a teenager could easily maintain.  After getting the cut and deciding on the style of braids at Jo's salon, Jo and her assistant called around to various braiding shops in the area, and negotiated a good price for us, and we were able to get my sister's hair braided that same day. Not only was I impressed with her talent with all types of hair, I love the fact that she works with you to improve the condition of your hair.
