I wanted to wait until I got my first no chip to write a review. My first no chip lasted 3 weeks!!!!! It didn't chip one bit. The only thing that looked dumb was the grow out but that was my fault. I went back to get another no chip with Maria and it's great. She's sweet and quiet and doesn't talk your ear off. The salon is very chic and comfortable. Gingerslam is a great addition to Chicago and the Rogers Park community! I love that the nail bar is only a 5 minute walk from my home too. This place holds two ANGELS as owners. I can not even begin to explain the love and care the team at Gingerslam has.I was a bride who booked a party of 6, long story short I ended up having an anxiety attack here because of my nail polish not being 'breathable' and realizing I can't pray with it on (religious purposes) and Trevor went to the closest store to purchase me 4 color options and surprising me with them with my bridal party after I got myself together. Mind you they stayed open after hours for us and did not even mention two people of the party not showing because of me. ME?!? Gingerslam is the creme of the crop. If you haven't been, you should go. They are the best nail salon I have ever visited in Chicago. We came in for birthday mani-pedis and the experience was, in a word, perfect. From the call to make the appointment, to the moment we left, we both felt pampered and truly welcomed. I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 1 because I actually think that if I'd had anyone but Mona I would have had a great experience. This place has a great vibe. The co-owner that greeted me was so nice and accommodating with me. It is a BYOB establishment which could be fun if you decided to bring a friend. I'm extremely disappointed with the service I got from Mona, however. Here is what happened- when it was explained to Mona that she would be removing my gel nails (they do not do gel nails here - just regular manicures or no chip) The annoyance was palpable. She wrinkled her nose, sighed heavily several times. We sat down and got to work. She brought up that the manicure I had was very badly done - yeah...that's why I'm trying someone new. She said that my nails were extremely weak...yeah- my nails are not my best feature. She pointed out several times defects within my nails...I was starting to feel like a leper. She said several times "this is so hard". ..what am I supposed to do with that information?  After 1 hour and 20 minutes (I'm not exaggerating at all) she had sort of finished taking the gel off one hand. I did the math and decided not to stay the additional 2+ hours it would take to finish my manicure. I know she was frustrated and clearly has zero experience removing gels. I can't even hold this against her since this place doesn't do gel nails. (Even though I DID call ahead to make sure they could do this for me.) I have a real problem with her lack of professionalism. I can't remember ever feeling that uncomfortable ever before in a nail salon. And this is in a business that's sole purpose is to make money by making people feel pretty. She did a good job of making me feel quite the opposite. I would recommend that you check this place out. I recently moved to the Rogers Park area and received a Groupon for a spa pedicure at Gingerslam. I cannot say enough good things! All the girls working were friendly and talkative. I was offered water or tea, and got to use the massage chair. The pedicure itself was the best I've ever had. Very deluxe, super moisturizing, and overall so fun! And for $37? I'll take it! I've visited gingerslam twice since moving to Rogers park a few months ago. The first time was with a Groupon for a mani-pedi. I tried the Smith&Co polish. My nails looked good, but the manicure didn't last as long as I expected it to. The second time was 16 days ago, and it was probably one of the best gel manicures I've ever gotten! The pedicure was also good, but in that respect I have had slightly better, though my toes still look amazing. My nails have not chipped and it's been 16 days!!!!! I'm repeating that because so many places offer no chip but 75% of the time it doesn't last, which can be so disappointing and I rarely have the time to go back for them to fix it. Prices are reasonable/on par with most nail salons. Tuesday-Wednesday there's a no chip mani with regular pedi special for $49!!!! Please go! You'll laugh, be treated kindly, be serviced in a reasonable amount of time and your nails will look AMAZING. Even if I didn't live close by, it would be worth the trip and! It's very rare that I come to a place that has 5 stars but guys, this place deserves these 5 stars and then some! Wow. Like, I'm still trying to wrap my head around that amazing experience. I am going to my best friend's graduation this weekend and my feet were just looking all types of atrocious. I don't even remember the last time I got a pedicure...but let me tell you, Gingerslam treated me great!!!! I didn't make an appointment because I'm a procrastinator and they not only let me walk in and get my feet done but I didn't feel rushed! My nail tech, Maria, was amazing. This place is so fun, like super duper fun.First tip here: make an appointment. I wanted a same day appointment and they couldn't squeeze me in. No big deal but definitely don't show up hoping you can squeeze in.They have a lovely and clean space. The salon seems to be run by two nice men who care deeply about their clients and do everything to ensure a good experience. I had to take a quick conference call during my pedicure and they were super kind about it (honestly I think this is a super rude thing to do but couldn't avoid it).I have no idea what this place does to your nail buts its been over two weeks since I got a mani/pedi and the pedicure looks like it was done yesterday. My manicure is holding on strong as well. Usually, I would have peeled off all of my gel by now, ruined my nails, and whined to my friends about it. Honestly, I don't think I could peel this stuff off if I tried. Came in on my birthday as a little treat to myself. Was looking forward to a bit of "me time". I just went with french as I felt rushed to pick a colour. The guy was rough and filed my finger a few times which hurt. I was only spoken to when asking "what colour" "what shape". At the end I pointed out that the top coat didn't reach the end of one of my nails. He looked at it and said "you're done". Then he got up and walked off. I had my nails done last week for a wedding I was standing up in. My manicurist encouraged me to go bold (since I wasn't the bride) and because I am sassy by nature, so I did. I WISH I had a picture. They were truly wild and fun. I wore bright pink lipstick to match and everyone told me I was SLAYING throughout the wedding festivities. The staff is extremely polite and fun and the atmosphere and decor are far above what I would ever expect from a nail salon. My boyfriend had a spa pedicure (works on his poor dogs all day) and is still feeling happy and relieved from the service. We live right around the corner and we are thrilled to have a wonderful place to enjoy so close by. Maybe next time we'll bring our champagne in a can- just because. I was in town for a visit and I wanted to take my sister-in-law out for a mani/pedi.  She lives in Rogers Park and Gingerslam had good Yelp reviews, which is why I chose it.  It was such an excellent experience, I'm so glad that I got to give my SIL such a good time.  The salon is small but very bright and clean.  The staff is friendly and fun and attentive--they served us water in wine glasses!--and the mani/pedi itself (themselves?) was so relaxing and lovely.  The spa pedicure came with my favorite thing, warm paraffin, and I thought my SIL was going to melt right into the chair.  I loved the way my nails turned out and I'm so grateful to them for giving my SIL such a wonderful first experience.  If I still lived in Chicago, I would absolutely make this my regular salon. This place is awesome! I got a gel mani from Becky and she did an incredible job. She, Trevor and the rest of the staff are super friendly, and immediately made me feel like one of the gang. They offer water or tea, which is great because I'm always trying to stay hydrated. They also provide water for dogs and are dog friendly which is beautiful! Honestly the prices are a little higher than I'd like, but on Tuesday's and Wednesday's you can get $10 off a pedi and no chip mani, which is a great deal. I went in for the first time on the evening of Valentine's day (single gals gotta treat themselves you know?) and had a really nice experience. It's clear that they care a lot about providing good customer service, and I really appreciated that they made me feel at home. The salon itself is very nice inside, smells great, and they have a great selection of polishes. The gal working (I wish I had gotten her name! I'm guessing Becky based on other reviews) chatted me up about the neighborhood/community involvement stuff going on, podcasts, and a bunch of other stuff. It was a totally different experience than I've had at any other nail salon in the area.They have a special on Tuesday and Wednesday nights - $49 for a no-chip mani and regular pedi. Everyone working here was very enjoyable to be around. The service was great. They took their time and were quite meticulous. I saw strong attention paid to keeping stations and tools clean. Trevor the owner has great people skills - I called half hour before my appointment to change it a half hour later then I had to call again to move it another half hour and both times he was very gracious and accommodating.  Street/metered parking during the week except Sundays.  tastefully decorated and very clean. They sell candles and Reed diffusers and will even gift wrap - complimentary (a nice touch). I absolutely adore Gingerslam and the lovely people who work here. First off it is BYOB, it says that on its door and many people after coming in wish they stopped across the street or a little farther north is a great liquor store (Rogers Park Spirits) for a bottle of wine or some beer or tequila (had a pedi next to a woman who brought margaritas in mason jars).I have only seen them turn away one group (three pedicures and another trio had just walked in looking for the same), otherwise Trevor makes a point of trying to work with your schedule and theirs to help out your fingers and toes. Becky, Cayce and Mona are all amazing. They have a good selection of colors (I love the Cult and Smith line - 7 free and cruelty free!), there is an upcharge for the designer colors, but you are still walking out with a great mani/pedi for a great price ($37 for a mani/pedi, $42 if you want designer colors). They also offer waxing services and Cayce is great. She asks your preference on wax (hard or soft) and has a quick, smooth hand. I've found my go to salon to get a pedicure and most likely a manicure. I only got a pedi this time with my BFF. GIngerslam offers two types- both done in spa chairs with the built in massage. One is $25, the other is $37. I got the upgraded one because it's been a while since I had a really good pedicure. It took a full hour and included an exfoliating scrub, longer massage with 2 lotions, and paraffin wax. I opted to go with 2 layers Smash & Cult colors and so far, I'm pleased with my results. Aside from Essie and OPI, they also carry Dior, Tom Ford, etc. Marshawn is awesome. She's super nice, funny, methodical, and neat. Definitely ask for her although the whole staff seemed to enjoy their clients company and to take pride in their work. Trevor was the most comical. Blink and you can miss this place but definitely take the time to seek it out. The whole salon is super cute. It has 4 chairs, 2-3 stations, and a stand up bar as well as comfy sofa.
