I have been going to Mimi nails for almost 10 years, and I have always had a great experience.  My pedi always comes with a leg and foot massage, hot towels, and polish that lasts for weeks.  When you are drying they come and give you a two minute shoulder massage.  :). I had a mani/pedi here for the first time today and I am very pleased! I found the place to be clean and tidy, and the ladies there were very pleasant and welcoming. I had the Spa Pedicure and it was a very nice experience. I had such dry, flaky skin from the winter cold and now my legs are so soft! My technician did a great job on both my manicure and pedicure. I'm very picky about how my nails are done and this place lived up to my expectations. And the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of service. And this is a great deal: Mon-Wed a mani/pedi is only $30. Ladies, you can't beat that (especially with summer just around the corner). I plan on being a regular customer! The place is ok if there's nowhere else to go and you're desperate. Staff is friendly but the place is a dump - old, ugly and dirty. My friends received pedicures and were done in about 30 minutes. I have always been under the impression that a pedicure (a good one at least) would take 45 minutes to an hour. My manicure was fine, nothing special at all. It is worth mentioning that the polish lasted 2 days. Two! I can usually get a manicure to last close to a week and sometimes longer. WARNING LADIES BEWARE THIS PLACE IS DANGEREOUS!!!With that being said, My daughter referred me to this nail salon and I thought I'd give them a try BIG MISTAKE!!!!  So I go for a pedicure and  I'm still in disbelief at the horrible job done to my feet. I have very nice feet with long toenails (or rather I had toenails till I got a pedicure here)Since it was my first time there the first thing I told the nail tech was not to cut my toenails short and l like to keep them Oval well.............I might as well had told her to cut off all toenails to the white meat and then go on the sides of my toenails and cut them off to so that it looks as if sometime took a steak knife and carved my toenails like a Halloween Jack O Lantern complete with the crooked tooth smile cause that's how they look. The so screwed up I don't even want people to see them until they grow back.  SO DISGUSTED!!!!So as nicely as humanly possible I asked the tech why did she cut off my nails on the sides and all across the tops down to the meat and file them square when I requested they  be left long and oval??????? So here comes the idiot response you tend to get from emotional immature people who cannot admit when they make a mistake or in my case a catastrophe on my damn FEET! She reply's to tell me 99% of the people that come in want short square nails so I guess my request didn't mean much oh my bag I guess this explains why it looks like my toenails were filed down with a jig saw!I was originally going for a mani / pedi but after seeing my feet, it was all I could do not to loose my cool especially since she tried to lie and tell my my nails were square when I came in for service. so I paid the %#! the $25 for the pedicure and left because my blood pressure was high enough to boil water.  Come to think of it on top of all the madness the tools used were not sterilized they were already sitting out at the workstation. OMG!!!!!I met my daughter to have lunch but when she saw my feet and I told her about what the nail tech did and her indescribable attitude my daughter was in shock and told me she apologized for even telling me about the place and that she had never seen my feet look like that in all of her 26 years of life. Well, my daughter's shock and the fact that the broad cut my toenails so short on the tops and sides so now when I walk, my toes are tender and hurting so that pissed me off to the point I call back to the shop to speak with the owner but she's not there and I wind up talking to idiot that did this damage in the first place, I let her know I'm very mortified and upset about what she did to me and I coming back up there to speak with the owner and get a refund. Once I get there the owner is MIA no where to be found and her comes Edward Scissor Hands with her nonchalant attitude. I show her how close to the meat they are cut and tell her how I didn't appreciate her funky attitude since I'm the one suffering, she tells me she don't want to talk to me she has a headache but she will give me the money back but before she refunds me she wants me to remove the nail polish. WELL SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! First off when she was talking she sounds like Astro the dog from the Jetsons cartoon  but on the other hand God is alive and well cause I started praying in my mind not to grab her and give her a upper cut, haircut, manicure, pedicure and a much needed facelift.Long story short, I got a refund but that won't be the end, I have filled a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I will post this review on all the social media outlets.Because if I can help someone avoid the drama I faced today then my JAGGED TOES WILL NOT BE IN VAIN!!!!RUN FOREST!  RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were in from out of town for a wedding, and enjoyed mani/pedis. The seats were VERY comfortable (great back massage), pedicure well done, staff very friendly, and time is taken to provide a relaxing experience. Only downside was that my manicure ended up with a few prominent bubbles that I saw while it was being done, and I wish they would have fixed it. The salon itself is  just ok, but possibly the rudest people I have ever dealt with.  I always get a little creeped out when people do not use sterilized tools on me, I questioned the woman and just had attitude the entire time.  Then I asked another worker a question at the drying station, she didn't answer me, said something to the one who gave me my manicure in whatever language and then no one said a word.  Wish I wouldn't have tipped, the tip is for service above and beyond--definitely didn't get that here and would NOT return.If you're looking for cheap and dirty, may be this is a good spot. I usually do my own nails, but to treat myself, I went in to get a pedi/mani with gel nails.Called ahead and made an appointment. Paid cash and left. After driving, I discovered nail polish on a couple finger tips, and my cuticles were not clipped and as hard and dry as when I walked in. One nail had bubbles in it too.  I called and was told to comeback in. Asr I walked in, one lady asked to see my nails, I showed her my complaints. the lady that did my nails came out and I told her of my disappointment and she looked and said I will re-do. There was a lady there with her daughter who tried to help out the situation and said "oh they are nice here what happened?" so I showed her. I then said "these cuticles were not treated at all and are terrible" the younger lady said "that is your skin" and they all laughed at me. Excuse me? I then sat down, and feeling very much the fool, I got up and asked for my money back. To think of sitting there, and getting one nail fixed, spend more time on my saturday made me angry. I was told to "come back monday" the owner was not in. I said I cannot come in monday I work. "oh you  can come back monday night then"to which I replied "no I cannot"  after talking amongst themselves the lady went in the drawer and gave me back my 55.00 in cash. I have liked the atmosphere here for several years now, and my nails always turn out well, but it may be time to find a new nail salon. The staff is aloof and rude. Every staff person will watch customers walk in, but will not speak to you until you make a point to walk over to one of them to ask a question. Today I sat down for about 5 to ten minutes after I walked in, picked out my color, and sat down waiting to be serviced when they had a chance. I finally walked up to the staff member Jessica (who is often very rude) and asked if they had time for a manicure pedicure or if I should make an appointment for later. She asked like I was inconveniencing her for even asking the question. Not to mention, I have acrylics right now and wanted to take them off. When I nicely asked if they did so, she looked at me like I was inconveniencing her once again, at first told me they don't, and then sighed and said "ok fine yeah we do it." They do not act like they need and want your business. They barely acknowledge when a customer enters the establishment and you have to assert yourself to get any service. They do a pretty good job on nails, so if you can look past the aloof attitude. I think it's time for me to go elsewhere. I came to Mimi's on spur of the moment as I was trying to kill some time before a hair appointment.  I moved to Chicago about 6 months ago and have tried at least 8 different nails salons in the city, all of which I have been disappointing.  I always get a no-chip manicure because I don't have time to get my nails done all the time and like them to look nice for longer than a couple days.  My no-chips would always chip after a week at most.  Now it is been two weeks and my manicure is still chip free and shiny!!  I didn't get the name of the girl who did my nails but she was fabulous, did a great job and I was out in under an hour.  I'm really picky about my nails and hate when the border near my cuticles is jagged.  My nails were perfect!!   I WISH I lived closer to this salon b/c it would be my go-to place, and they got me in right away with no wait. This is the best place to get your nails done in the area. Their nail polish selection is great. They maintain the nail polish so that it doesn't go bad. They also get new nail polish on a regular basis. I think this is why the nail polish lasts as long as it does. I have had my polish on for 2 weeks and its a regular manicure. The only reason I need to go back is to file them and maintain my cuticles. The staff is great! Read Less

Mimi is close and convenient, but I'm looking for another nail salon. I don't find them reliable enough to justify returning, despite the price being pretty reasonable. My friends and I came a couple months ago and I noticed the M-F $30 Mani/Pedi deal. I only got a Pedicure that day and my friend got a Manicure. My feet looked pretty good and my friend's nails looked great. I wasn't blown away, but I thought I found my new nail salon.I returned on a Tuesday and discovered they've gotten rid of the deal. Now a Mani/Pedi is $35 M-Th and $38 Fri & Sat. It's not highway robbery, but it's also not that big of a difference between bigger salons. Also, my Manicure and Pedicure turned out less than stellar. I still have ingrown nail on my feet and the polish is quite cheap. I wore closed-toe shoes two days later and it pushed the French tips back and warped the paint. My Manicure is in even worse condition. The polish began bubbling almost immediately and she didn't get off all the polish from my previous paint job. I'm more concerned with all the dead skin that remains and that she didn't clean under my nails until I asked her to (and she still didn't do a thorough job).Mimi will do the trick if you're in a pinch and want to save a few dollars, but I would rather save a little more money and find a place where I know my nails will look good for at least a week afterward. And on the 7th day, my fingernail polish chipped. Not bad! Not bad at all, Mimi Nails!  (FYI...this was not even a no chip manicure!)Last Saturday, I met my cousin here for what was originally going to be pedicures. She arrived a few minutes before me and had a little waxing done...ooh, la la. She was very pleased with the outcome. We had the time, so we decided to do mani's and pedi's. Overall, both were great!  We had plenty of polish to choose from and it was organized by color in one area.  This earned major points from me. My sister likes to go to a shop where the polish is split up and all over the place. I'm never happy with the color that I choose there because I always really wanted something a little lighter, little darker, more pink, more purple...you get my drift. The pedicures were relaxing in this very clean and darling shop. The technicians were nice and I never once felt like they were talking about us. I don't often get a manicure. So, I opted for a light shade of pink thinking it would start to chip in a day or two and I didn't want to have to remove the polish immediately. I was thrilled that it wasn't until this morning...seven days later that I have my first chip!  I felt that the technician took her time and did a really nice job. While sitting at the dryers, I continued to relax while she gave me a little shoulder massage. I'm funny about those things. Usually, I'm not a big fan of people touching me. But, I had worked with the same person for the whole time, she was very sweet and I felt very comfortable. Bottom line, make an appointment and stop into this tucked away shop in Old Town Bloomingdale. I didn't have reservations...didn't think I needed them for this type of salon (and didn't have them last time I was here) When I walked in and requested a no-chip manicure, they seemed annoyed. It was the fastest I've ever had it done which I originally thought was good but the quality of the manicure was not good. I always go here to get my nails done. Thy have the sweetest staff and are rarely busy so it's easy to get a walk-in appointment.They always give you a shoulder massage while you're at the drying station. And they have a plasma tv on the wall if you don't feel like talking.Plenty of colors to choose from - most OPI and Essie. Comfortable chairs. Nice atmosphere.I'll never stop going here.  But just so you know, they PREFER cash tips, so don't rely on just your credit card here! Read Less

I had a manicure and hand massage there.  So did my wife.  We were both pleased with the results.Very relaxing atmosphere; the shop has a nice ambiance.  I think that there are five manicurists/pedicurists.   It is fairly spacious.I also tried one of the machines that does a back massage.  That was nice.
