I was late for my appointment because of the rain which is my bad and im getting my hair done for prom so i asked if they could still take me and they said yes. i booked a night out blow dry which if you look on the website IT SAYS: "Includes shampoo, blow dry and styling with hot tools (curling/flat iron etc) for a more glamorous finished look." This girl takes me in her hair doesnt even BRUSH MY HAIR and starts curling it and it took like 20 minutes. I had no problem with this i was expecting it to be $15-20 dollars sinc e thats all she did but when i went to checkout this woman said its $50 to which i said all she did was curl my hair so that cant be true and she said she will go find a technician and she comes back and says that the price for a hot tool is $5o dollars. The price for a night out blowdry with SHAMPOO, BLOW OUT AND A HOT TOOL IS $40 AT THE MARIO TRICOCI ARLINGTON HEIGHTS LOCATION. I could have done what that girl did to my hair for one better and two fcr free. You bet i told this story to EVERY girl in the bathroom of my prom, on the dancefloor and at the tables. I didn't even get into the door and I will not do business with these people due to the alleged result of an appointment made over the phone that resulted in people residing near me calling me libidinal names-clearly reckless endangerment on the part of law enforcement and maybe others. If an employee at this salon had law enforcement trace my call to remind me of past horrors and crimes they perpetrated against me this is appalling. I called the salon and spoke with a secretary and explained a girl at a salon in a far away location screwed up my hair, on purpose, and besides my hair appears god awful so maybe some well trained beautician could work a little magic. Only a few times in my life had I relied on beauticians ie: for special events. I explained all of this to the secretary and asked if she had someone in mind. She did ... however I became suspicious because the beautician's name was synonymous to a gem stone. Sometimes this indicates one's services extend beyond bangs and curlers and Annie get your Guns if one knows what I mean. I don't know except some rough sounding Dudes in the complex I find myself are wondering where the deviant is residing on the property and I'm wondering where this came from because I'll bet they couldn't describe me and I am a very caring guy. Even if I was not so much this place isn't likely where one would seek to win friends and influence people.So I gues the latest craze is the true degenerates are going through law enforcement to slander people and operate in the shadows. I could not prove it but I play by the rules...laws....and I don't appreciate being the recipient of appalling misconduct when nemesis couldn't describe me and I never interacted with they or those linked therein. I would not recommend Izzy. Half way through my haircut I heard "oh no" and "I'm sorry you're going to have to part your hair differently". Way down hill, prob had it's moment in the 90's and early 2000's. I have had horrible haircuts, updo for wedding and waxing there. The last straw for me was my brazillian - Vita left me with so many painful ingrown hairs, holy cow I get less doing it myself while sitting on the john at home! (seriously I use Parissa wax you can get it at ulta) Probably never going back - was thinking about a massage but Im not sure. If you are getting waxed by Vita watch out! Also, it's not very relaxing, she literally stood there and told me to undress for my wax, no robe, no spa like experience. I went to this location for my hair to be colored.  Alex was mediocre, nothing great, not horrible. Definitely not the friendliest.   After the first hair wash the color washed out, so I needed to have the color put back in.   On the day of the appointment, I called on the way there that I was running about 10 minutes late.  They wanted to schedule me with someone else because they claimed Alex no longer had enough time. I was hesitant, knowing that there are not so many knowledgeable employees working for this company anymore.  I was so close to the salon, I agreed I would, but five minutes later called back letting them know that I would prefer to have the appointment with Alex who worked on my hair in the first place.  I rescheduled the appointment.Then, within ten minutes, the manager, CAROLINE TAPP called me to tell me that I would need to keep a credit card on file for any future appointments; and if I cancel within 24 hours I would have to pay for the entire appointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was floored!  I was not consdiderably late and could easily have made it to that appiintment, since they allow you up to 15 minutes.  I was never a no-show and didn't make it a habbit of being late.  I made it a habbit of staying away from the place as long as possible.  I stretched my colors to every 4 to 5 months because it was NOT a relaxing place that I looked forward to going to.  CAROLINE TAPP WAS OUT OF HER MIND IF SHE THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO PAY FOR A SERVICE THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE.Management does not care about the clients being satisfied.  Caroline Tapp and management in general wants as many clients in and out in as short amount of time as possible.  In the end, she did me a favor, I was forced to find a salon that knows what they are doing and has great customer service, that is an opportunity I should have taken long before encountering awful management like CAROLINE TAPP!! I had two terrible experiences at this location. I went to get a haircut and showed the woman two pictures of how I wanted my hair to look like. One picture was of myself to show exactly where I wanted the length to cut off at. The woman cut my hair WAY too short and looks NOTHING like I wanted it to. Her name was Lana and is considered a "senior" hair dresser. She even touched my back of where I wanted it cut and my hair does not even touch my back anymore. I was so upset with how I looked so I went back and scheduled a consultation meeting for hair extensions. The woman that gave the consultation is named Carmen and was extremely rude. She was blaming me for showing TWO pictures to Lana and said that it "confused her". She made me feel like I was an inconvenience to her and she kept saying my hair looks like the first picture I showed. Clearly she was trying to defend the salon instead of addressing the needs of the clients. Stacy is the BEST stylist!! These five stars are entirely for her and her amazing caring attitude towards her clients as well as the beautiful detailed artsy work she does! Seriously, I cannot express enough my appreciation for her work! I was there prior to Stacy, saw 2 different stylists and another "TOP" stylist who gave me a terrible haircut plus my bangs were ruined. I had to go back and get a re-do but I didn't want to see Aubrey or Carmen again; my hair was beyond uneven. I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror and no type of style helped. Today, I saw Stacy and she was not only able to fix what the other stylists did but she took her time in detailing every part of my hair as needed to give me a great looking style according to my face features. Now my hair looks amazing and I feel good once again. She should get an award for pulling this one off. If you want someone who knows what they are doing and cares about your needs - I  highly recommend Stacy as she is their most valuable employee and stylist in my opinion. I was at the salon last Sunday with a photo for red color base hair with blonde highlights. The hair's technique of Kim was poor and she was not able to get even close to the photo. Front desk girls were polite and they did offered re-done. I did set up appointment with another hair's technician and he just added some strong red highlights on the top of my hair considering that I would like to look as a fall tree with red, orange, brown, black strips on my damaged hair. I set up a third re-done a week later and the specialist said that nothing can be done my hair to be fix and I need to wait more days to get a base color and blonde highlights. The time I loose and the dispoiments were not worth the price I paid. Unbelievable what was done with my hair at this place. I will not recommend this location to no one . Read Less

I have had less experienced hairstylists do my hair and they do amazing. I am always impressed with how my hair cut comes out. Today was my first time at a Mario Tricoci, I had my hair cut horrendously in November by a different salon. I was very scared and saw Izzy, I thought it's Mario Tricoci they wouldn't just hire any random person with no skill. It is okay to choose the $40 stylist vs the $80 stylist. I was very specific, I brought pictures. I showed her exactly what I wanted and showed her a picture of exactly what I did not want. I had specific pictures, I trusted her and was very scared. She did exactly what I told her I DID NOT WANT. I was crying in that chair just waiting for her to finish. I couldn't help my tears from rolling down my eyes. I am so upset, having to go to work with this mess on my head. I regret ever going to this place. She stated she cut at a 45° like I don't know what that is. I have a Bob cut on the side, and my hair is cut on a straight 90° in the back. I can't believe how she ruined my hair after I was very specific, if it's not a cut she is familiar with why not tell me. I will have to look at this for the next 4 months. I feel I get more upset by the minute. The ladies up front told me next time they'll refer me to a better person, why would she be working there if she doesn't know what she's doing. Of course I should have chosen the $80 stylist at a place with such prestige like Mario Tricoci. I refuse to go back and risk a horrible hair cut for a 3rd time. Nancy is just awesome! I had a wedding last Saturday and went in with my friend (aka the bride) to have our makeup done. I was so thankful I had Nancy as my makeup artist because she was just so fabulous. She explained everything she was doing, made sure I was happy with everything and overall did a great job and made me look super hot for the night!Nancy said she also does eyelash extension and eyebrows...so I may just need to stop in to get some other stuff done. I have to say though that I have plans now to keep coming back to Mario Tricoci anytime I need my makeup professionally done. Makeup application was $40 but the fee was waived with a $65 purchase. This made sense in my head and I ended up buying some fancy makeup that I would never even consider normally. This BB Cream she used on me was just magical! $39 of magic youth potion in a tube. And the Mario Tricoci brand lipstick I had applied on was $24 so I ended up purchasing that, as well.While at Mario Tricoci I felt really relaxed and was treated extremely well. They have lemonade or water while you hang out at the salon which was a huge plus. I'm very pleasantly surprised with the quality, service & prices and I'll absolutely be back! Read Less

Unethical superficial dump!If you're into the whole classy atmosphere, watching anneroxic chicks with strange hair that look like they belong in a Tim Burton movie walk around, or extremely metrosexual or gay men give attitude and nothing more.. then this would be for you.. Rude inconsiderate stylists, unethical managers, shady business practices, over priced & over profited dump this place truly is.My story goes, I was scheduled to have my hair colored at the Old Orchard location. I showed up on time, only to discover that my stylist went home for the night and NOBODY even bothered to contacted me because " it was a very busy day", according to management. Funny, when I got there there was only a handful of people but okay.. I asked to speak with the coloring manager ( orange hair chick), and she did not seem to care, and nobody else was available to do my hair, except some guy who had extremely much higher prices (75% higher to be exact) then what I am use to paying. It wasn't my fault that the stylist went home early so why do I get stuck paying for another stylist whose prices are significantly higher and Mario's wouldn't cover the difference. I left work early to sit in traffic to get there just to turn around and leave, again nobody cared, no compensation/gift card/complimentary service or nothing! I did contact their customer service hotline, and again nobody really cared, all you hear is " I'm sorry, that wasn't right of her, come back again and use someone else, thanks for calling". Click. Anyway, I wound up going to Hair Cuttery down the street and guess what they are a lot cheaper, and much more down to earth atmosphere. Nobody would ever even know the different either! I went for my 3rd highlight. I didn't request the same colorist as she did an (okay-good job) last time; I thought maybe I'd have a great job this time. WRONG. I have dark brunette hair (level 4) & wanted to maintain a highlight to about a 7R. I knew in the consultation she just wasn't getting it when all she asked me about was "so you want to go brighter" What the heck does that mean? Well, I found out the wrong way. She turned me into a blonde, which didn't look nice with my complexion. The foil must have leaked because I have blotchy spots.She put on 2 separate toner applications. It helped, but definitely NOT what I wanted for $175 later. I went to a family graduation party, and alot of people didn't even recognize me saying - You're blonde now". My response was - not by choice. I was suppose to go back, but with my busy schedule in the past 4 weeks, I haven't been able to.Sorry to say - this wasn't a good experience. Read Less

The staff is snobby and rude. The stylists are average at best. And as a bonus you get to blow out your own hair at a station after the cut and color. No matter what your new cut is they will not help you style it. The best part is that this blow out station is in the middle of a heavily walked isle so all eyes are on you and you are made to feel that you are in the way once they have rinsed you out. I came to see MAYA because my friend goes to her so she told me to give her a try... I have very hard hair to style and everywhere i went for a haircut they never teach me how to do it at home.. I went to see Maya on Monday she spent a hour with me talking to me about my hair and why i hate it soo much so when we got to the haircut she told me step by step what she was going to do and she showed me the products i should use. WOW all i kept thinking is this girl is really good. When we got done she told me they way she styles my hair i would be able to do the same at home. This has happened to me multiple times, and I can't understand how people could not notice cutting off 8 to 10 inches off of someone's hair!!! This was by far the worst thing that has happened to my hair in my life! Then, I got home and received a voice message saying I still owed them $17. This is fine. But, ""Jan"", the other receptionist I had met at the store, gave me an attitude right off the bat and took a very condescending tone with me! She first seemed to imply that I didn't tell ""Arielle"" that I got the more expensive Signature Massage and only paid for the Swedish Massage. I was in the salon a few weeks ago and i came across a great stylist maya. I have to tell you guys this was the best haircut i ever had in my life. When this women cuts your hair not only is she talented but she listens to your every word what works for you and what doesn't. Her haircuts last months you hair would grow out so well you wouldn't believe. She is sooo sweet and caring and dead on about the latest fashions. I love her and I love the salon now. I went to Mary Pat for a hair cut and I had a great experience. She was super nice and did a great job! I am requesting her every time I go there now. Plus she new a ton about the cubs which was great conversation. For all you guys out there looking for a good place to get a hair cut at a decent price, I recomend Mary Pat 100%. Plus you cant beat the location right on michigan ave and there is a really nice equinox fitness gym on the same floor so you can work out and get styled up without having to run all over town. I do not recommend this location at all. Most of the Mario's are bad but this location and Pheasant Run take the award for worst in the state. I could not believe how rude the girls at the reception desk were. One girl is supposed to be the manager named Brittany but she just gossiped and behaved rudely to people and then the real gem is Kyle who should probably smile and maybe people wouldn't be so mad at how rude and incompetent she is. My stylist Frankie was horrible. I thought these people go to training before they cut hair but I guess she did not. I thought after the receptionists were rude that it couldn't get worse but my ""stylist"" was worse. She even rolled her eyes when I was talking to her. I obviously didn't talk to her the rest of the cut and just felt like crying. She rushed my blowdry and it was not straight at all. The cut was so bad my husband started yelling at me for letting it happen. We had to pay another $50 bucks to get it redone at another salon. I moved to Naperville ten years ago. I was recommend to this salon by several people as ""a great hair cut"" but, ""you will pay a price"". I am use to paying $65 for a cut and $90 for a color, however I am use to having good customer service at those prices. My experience there was, it is much like a factory. The people who do the work are great in their field, thus the price is high. I was willing to bare the ""price"" of bad service until one day I had enough. The front desk treats you like dirt if you?re not sporting a huge diamond and designer cloths. The people who actually do the cutting and coloring are better but don't look for the traditional bonding while you get your cut and/or color. I left after 8 years of six to eight weeks of cuts and color because; the management seems to favor making money. In this economy I hope they change their management style. A friend gave me a gift certificate to try the salon again and I did within the last month. I was hoping the experience would have been better however?I still have not changed my mind. This place is ridiculous! I recently got highlights there. When I made the appointment the guy on the phone confirmed that the price was $90 for full highlights. However, when I checked out I was told it was 130.00 because prices START at 90.00 and they could not tell me why my highlights were now 40.00 more. My hair is shoulder length, so I'm not buying the excuse that the check out guy said about my hair being longer than most girls. This is just a way for them to rip people off! What really ticks me off about this place is that after my color service, I was passed to someone else who washed my hair and then sent to a SELF SERVE STATION with hair dryers for me to use! I just paid $130 for highlights and I'm drying my hair myself! Isn't this standard to have the stylist dry your hair after you pay for any hair service?! It was so difficult making the appointment because you have to call their 800 number a wait forever for a appt. It does look like a factory outlet salon. The staff are so rude and unprofessional. The lady that did my mani wasn't even looking at what she was doing, she was more concerned with gossiping with her co-workers. And she kept coughing in my face! Who would have thought I could get such a great cut while on vacation from Seattle. My stylist was on vacation and unable to do my hair before I left, but I found Brandon whom I want to highly recommend! His style and flair for hair was FABULOUS! When I got back to my families house my mother and two adult sister were so jealous, they made their own appointments with Brandon. Each one having a very different style. My mother came back with a graduated bob and she looks ten years younger. I can't stress enough how amazing our new hair looks. I have natural curly hair and have a hard time finding someone who ""really"" knows what they are doing. i called and FRANKIE was recommended. i told them i wanted a consultation as it was my first time there. i was assured if i came in a little early for my appt i would be able to speak with the stylist, i came in early and she was late. she rushed, had no hair magazines(what kind of salon doesn't have hair magazines), she was so busy running her mouth and telling me how she knew what she was doing that she wasn't listening. she heard bits and pieces put it all together and i ended up with no hair after i told her i was GROWING MY HAIR and only wanted her to clean it up and shape it. NOT CUT IT ALL OFF. on top of cutting it all off it was an ugly mishapen haircut. she did it in like 5 min (NO SKILL). EVERYTHING i told her not to do she did. when i called back to see what could be done as that was a lot of money to throw down the drain (i had to go a few days later to a REAL stylist and get a REAL haircut) i was given the runaround,and told a manager would call me back. well it's been 10 weeks or so and i'm still waiting. now my hair is super short. I HAD TO GO EXTREMELY SHORT TO OVERRIDE THAT DISASTER I GOT FROM FRANKIE,but at least its cute. my hair was shoulder length I WAS GROWING IT OUT for something different and now i have very short hair due to the incompetence of a careless person, and a shady fake salon that markets itself as if all the stylists are trained. I'm not in love with how much I spend here but it is worth it because the girl who colors my hair does a fabulous job. My hair is very fine and I have sensative skin and I have never had any problems with the colors bothering my skin. And, the girl who cuts my hair does a great job. I went to Mario Tricoci for the first time in my life, looking forward to a great new style. I made the appointment on-line (very convenient) and chose first available stylist since I did not have a preference. I was greeted nicely and was told the stylist would be right with me. I waited 20 minutes, no one came so I went back up to the desk to inquire why. Well, the stylist I was suppose to get was cutting and styling someone elses hair. No other stylist was available. I was asked to wait, being told "she works fast". I told them this was not a very good first impression. Feeling very disappointed and a bit angry I decided it might be best if I leave. I didnt know that anybody could ever get a bad facial, but I did today. I checked in at the front desk and the lady just told me to go upstairs. She didnt tell me to go into the spa or anything so I waited outside in a very loud waiting room. Usually when I go to a spa, I am greeted with very nice people and asked to put on a robe or something. This was not the case... When it was time for the facial, I was taken back to a room and asked to get undressed from the waist up. After I got undressed she came in and starting making alot of noise (this was the person that was going to do my facial) . This was just really not relaxing. Next, I was laying there and she put this really bright light right in my eyes, and it was blinding. I ask her if I could remove it, because it was hurting and she didnt do anything. Then after analyzing my face, she tried to sell me their products and basically told me that my dermatologist was wrong in what she prescribed. After all of this the facial began. At first, I felt like she didnt know how to put lotion on my face, because it was really uncomfortable and by this time I wasn't enjoying the special gift that my husband had gotten for me for getting a new job. She took the first layer off and then starting squeezing my blackheads out. THIS HURT SOOOO BAD. I had to ask her to quit. I felt like she ripped off my nose at one point. After this, then everything started to get a little better. The massaging was nice, and I started relax except for the fact that I was right next to the bathroom. I would hear a toilet flushing every 2-3 minutes and people talking outside my room. I was getting so annoyed. Oh and the funny thing was that when I left, the receptionist asked me how it was and said OK (thats it). I guess now I know that OK is all they need to hear to feel good about their services. I was in the lobby when this was going on and I will not go back.From what I understand, the employee was suspended for an invalid reason and then terminated when she spoke to others in the company, while her suspension was INVALID.I will never go back there. Yesterday, I had my hair highlighted and cut at the Oakbrook location. I simply love it! I cannot begin to tell you the number of compliments I have received from both women and men. Being a woman of color, I was skeptical about having my hair styled at a salon predominately for Caucasians. In fact, I called in advanced to request a stylist that had experience working with African American hair textures. Both of the women who styled and colored my hair were attentive, courteous, and enthusiastic about offering me a new look. I have given MT's several chances, but each time I am disappointed by an overall lack of customer service, not to mention MT's employee's inflated egos. The front desk girls need a class in customer service, starting with the basics of a smile and ""hello"". I have continued to patronize MT's in the past because of their convenient hours, but not even that is enough to get me to return this time. Overrated. Last visit I said I asked for exactly the same highlights as previous visit - but was given a different color! Had to wait in chair for 10-12 minutes waiting for the stylist to arrive and cut my hair...no one offered me a magazine or coffee. No biggie...but when girl arrived she said she has been on break and ""I make sure I take my breaks - the day is too stressful otherwise"". Finally, I asked for bangs. I had an appointment for a 10 minute brow wax, I was told to go upstairs to check in, was checked in, and once I was taken in back I was immediately accosted by a woman telling me that my sleeping daughter was not welcome since I was in the ""quiet zone"". I recently relocated to Naperville from Southern California. I was worried about finding someone to color my hair. I used to go to extremely nice, high end salons in California. I went to Mario's and saw Gina. She did a better job than any of the high priced salons in California!!!!! She was an extremely nice person as well!!!!
