We went about 20-30 minutes before they are scheduled to open since I've been told the wait time can be crazy since they get really busy. Oh did I mention it was a Saturday? So when we got there they had already opened with customers already inside. We had a short wait time of about 5 minutes per person since we had a party of two. Before being seated they ask you to pick a color for your nails. O wish they could have had more of a wider selection because although it may seem like a lot? It's not much (my opinion).After being seated the owner I believe started on my hands by chopping my nails. I get nervous when someone else is cutting my nails, who would wanna get snip? Anyways he was great & FAST! Next was another male whom I believe is his cousin or brother? He did the placing of the nails, shaping, buffing, and all that good stuff. He was awesome too! Fast, clean and friendly. Last was a young girl who painted. She had such a friendly vibe to her. Loved it. I would recommend anyone to go here and for an acrylic set with polish is $25! Gel set is $40. Reason for 4/5 stars is because of nail polish selection and after drying for 30 minutes (they suggested 15-20) my nail polish dented or could easily place fingerprints. I wish your salon is child friendly. When I brought my 2 year old niece in, we didn't get a friendly welcome but instead I was scolded by the owner  "if she cries we can't service". She wasn't crying. It was her first experience ever & I was upset we we're prejudged because she was a baby. But the kind woman assured a good service & pampered my niece. Everyone is so right about CINDY. She is the only person I go to get my brows waxed. I've literally let my brows grow bushy while they were on vacation just because I only would want Cindy to do my eyebrows. She always remembers me and always makes me feel comfortable while visiting for my monthly eyebrow waxing. I just got my eyebrows waxed at True Nails, and Cindy is fantastic. She listens to what you want, takes her time, and it only costs $13! I highly recommend Cindy if you're doing your brows for the first time, if you need your brows fixed from a previously bad brow job, or if you're just looking for a reliable person to maintain your brows every month. The only downfall to True Nails is the wait time. Since they do not take appointments you could be waiting for a couple hours to see Cindy. If you don't want to wait, then I suggest going on off days when there's no events like prom or graduation the next day. If you go the day before graduation, for example, chances are you will be waiting a couple of hours. All in all, the wait time does not bother me at all because Cindy is that good. This place has been here FOREVER. I remember coming here back as early as middle school with my BFF. She'd always get me to go with her to go do our nails before banquets, prom, and other reasons to just do our nails. This was where I was first exposed to fake nails, french tips, etc. Now as a little person who doesn't know what they're doing, like with all clients, the staff was SUPER helpful in asking me questions in how I wanted my nails done. Yes it hold to their stereotype which might be a little difficult to understand but bear with them they're nice AF and they treat you so well. They basically cater to you to your nail needs.I've never ever left disappointed here plus their prices are extremely reasonable. Tip? Just get gel nails, it's so worth your money. Don't worry about having an appointment, they'll accommodate you some how. They're also seriously family owned, so be sure to time your visits and think about when your family is going on a vacation, they might be on one too. They're really friendly, service was fast & their prices are reasonable. I got an acrylic fill with gel polish & 2 nails fixed; I was done & gone in under an hour. They also have a pretty good variety of regular polishes. There wasn't as many gel colors as other places, BUT the variety is still there, it's not like they have 10 shades of the same color. I'm really picky about how I like my nails done & it normally takes a few times for a nail tech to do my nails until they can really do them how I like (which is why I only gave 4 stars). True Nails is the best ... no one compares ... infinity stars from me.I have been going to True Nail since their humble beginnings and let me tell you when I first started going I would think that they couldn't be the only good ones BUT trust me when I did stray (only a few times in my naive days) I would ALWAYS come back home to True Nails.I love this family as my own family for realz hehe... that is how they make me feel ... like family. When I no more money and have to suffer with not being able to pamper myself... I literally miss them and when I see them again it is a joyful reunion. .. when I finally can and is able to go I always try to make sure I have all the time in the world because I only get myself the works (wax face, gelish, mani/pedi with designs and of course their parafin wax which my hubby says that as long as I get that I can go as often as my heart desires hehe)... I missing them bad now I may go there right now... BTW FYI... They do not take appointments. .. only walk-ins on a first come first serve basis and once you sign in you have to wait in there or they will move to the next customer... the wait can be super long depending on the season... in fact it says they open at 9 am but people standing in line at 8 am and they usually open shop earlier to accommodate their clients.I do not give them grief and pretty flexible in letting their creativeness shine... I give them much love and lots of respect which in turn they return to me ten folds... Growing up on the west side as a female I can almost guarantee that you've been to this salon and it almost looks the same as it did when I was young (so nostalgic). Hung out with my sister today (we rarely see each other) and decided to do a manicure before spring break. Shop closes at 6pm on Mondays managed to get there around 4:40pm as a "walk in" and as soon as we walked in we got our seats and got our nails started immediately (benefit of coming in on a Monday). We both got the acrylic nails with the gel nail polish, I got a black matte and gold glitter stiletto shaped nail (Nanakuli Pride lol) will post a pic check it out. Overall nice quality and it was quick it prolly took only 20 minutes which was nice for me because my hubby was waiting in the car. The staff are friendly they're talkative which is nice because you don't wanna just awkwardly sit there. We also got out a few laughs as well making jokes about poking my eye out while putting on contacts, I was also reminded to file my taxes (which I have not gotten to). I guess the only con you could consider about this place is that they unfortunately are not open on Sunday's, did ask them about it and he mentioned how they're religious and take the day off. It's not a problem for me I always avoid salons on weekends because it's always packed, but for those who are bummed about them not being open on a Sunday do consider that they are open the other six days of the week so choose another day. I would suggest scheduling an appointment because some walk ins that came after us was told it would be a 30-40min wait and cutting it close to there closing time, I'd just say secure your spot and avoid the wait. I've been coming to True Nails since they opened! Since day 1, they have all been very nice and amazing towards their customers! Cindy, all in all, BEST waxer on the island! I moved to Mililani and on desperate days that I need an emergency wax I tend to go where what's near me! And so far, Cindy has fixed my brows EVERY single time! When others over wax and make my brows uneven, Cindy is there to fix it! IDK why I don't just make the trip out here every week or week in a half, but I love Cindy! Me and my brows will forever be grateful for her and her magic waxing powers! Sonny, the man for your hands. He's amazing at what he does... Acrylic, gel, etc... You name it, he can do it.. You want fancy shapes like coffin nails or them of sorts, he can do it! He can also fix it. I got a full set done in Waipahu once and it didn't look right to me... So the next day, I came to Sonny. He immediately saw the unevenness and roughness of my set! He quickly fixed my nails and did a bombass job on my coffin shape!Kong, my go to man! Kong gives the BEST pedicures! Massages for days! Need to get your man a pedi, bring him to Kong! lol Kong has been doing my pedi's forever! He's hilarious, very energetic and the humorous one of the family! With his personality and pedicure qualities, there's really nothing that this man can't do! Jen, Jen, Jen... The lady with the artistic touch! Though you will almost always see Jen working on hands... She's amazing at pretty much EVERYTHING! She does hands, feet, waxing (when needed), but most importantly she does designs! Every time I get a design, I don't ever choose from the sample boards they have placed in the salon, but I just let her do her thing!
