I was looking for a nail salon in the Kailua area and found this gem. I get my nails done in every state or country I visit. This location by far was the BEST experience. I received a gel/acrylic nail from Michelle. She was absolutely pleasant to speak to. She engaged in conversation and provided excellent customer service. She even shared her lychee and fruits with everyone in the salon, although this was not an expectation during the service. Rena did my pedicure. Her foot massage was amazing! I was pleased with their customer service and the quality/attention to detail in their nail work. If I'm ever in this area again, I'll definitely revisit them. Read Less

I've visited every nail salon in Kailua multiple times but always come back to Shine. They are by far, the best, nicest, most professional, and responsive. The owner is almost always there and speaks english well. They do ask for tips in cash which is tough to remember! Read Less

Great spa!! Everyone is really friendly, nails were done perfectly, did not feel rushed, nail techs really took their time to talk and make me feel comfortable at all times. Really experienced staff. This used to be my go to salon. I made an appointment went In had to wait and was rushed!!! I was getting a pedicure and asked for French tip. People started walking in and they were saying 5 minute wait I help you blah blah blah. I've been goin here since they opened years ago and haven't had any trouble. I've even gone around Kailua and ELake to check out other places but always seem to find myself back here. All the ladies are lovely, accommodating, thorough and patient - especially with my health issues. I used to get fills, mani's and pedi's but only get pedicures now. They work according to their level of skill and they do a great job. I don't feel rushed and if I forget to wear the right shoes they have pedicure slippers to wear home. The packages are reasonable and worth it. I usually get the deluxe with added paraffin. They have a lot of color and brand choices too. They have ample parking and I recommend to make an appointment. Went for the first time today, and I'm very satisfied with my gel manicure from Shine. You know how sometimes when you get a gel mani, they kind of rush through it and it leaves little bubbles or dots on your nail? Not here! The woman doing my nails was very thorough, but not slow. Went in on a Sunday afternoon for a gel manicure and they sat me down right away. She even started filing my nails on one hand while I picked out which color I wanted (they have 300 gel colors to choose from). The girl who did my nails was very detailed and careful. She made sure all the nails were the same length and all the cuticles were perfectly cut. She did 3 coats of the color and 2 coats of the clear! She didn't have to do that but she  wanted it to look good and to last long. Then she gave me a long arm and hand massage after. Definitely recommend!! Read Less

I have had zero luck finding a nail salon that has the needed combo of great customer service and fantastic work. I gave shine a try and after a bit of confusion when I arrived for my appointment, I received a fantastic pedicure, although there were some sketchy hygiene practices happening. Next I received an acrylic fill with gel polish. Kim was very nice, but the work was below my expectations. My acrylic is lumpy, the paint job is uneven and the gel polish was filled with dry bits, (so was my toe polish) which indicates they don't replace their product as often as they need to. Unfortunately I won't return. They share unwashed cuticle clippers and foot loofahs/callous grates and the only washing I saw was a dunk in my dirty foot water before they were put back in the pedicure supply box. That plus the poor job on my fill means they're definitely not the place for me. Read Less

I came in for a pedicure and my sister for a gel manicure. Honestly it was one of the best pedicures I've had and very reasonably priced. I upgraded to the callus removal pedicure and do not regret it. It was awesome and my feet and legs are super soft. I will definitely be going back. Read Less

Today was my first visit and I was very pleased. I do not get any thing fancy done, so when I read a previous review for no fumes that was a plus, because I don't need any of that. It was also nice not to have a TV. The environment was clean enough. I only had a pedicure so I did not sit at a table but they looked cleared, not cluttered and they appeared clean. I will return. Nice that they are open on Sundays. I work all week and need Saturday for errands. Nice to be able to get a good pedicure on Sunday. Read Less

My favorite place on Oahu for gel mani and pedicure. They take their pedicure massages seriously and always provide a quality paint job on my toes. The gel manis consistently last longer than I would expect too. The ladies are sweet and work really hard. Would highly recommend for a great mani/pedi! Read Less

My feet needed some TLC after a month in sandals. Read: Major calloused feet!I chose the deluxe spa pedicure and had a delicious hour-long treatment. Went there for a gel fill and deluxe pedi since my usual nail tech @nailsbydanny at Friendly Nails was on vacation.  I had two different people with the same result...CRAPThe gel and toe nail polish started peeling off after two weeks plus the person doing my nails cut my finger (blood) and lets not forget the ingrown toe nail I now have.I have been getting pedis and manis for years and they've always lasted at least a month if not longer.  It makes me wonder if they're filling the OPI bottles with a cheaper polish or gel. Don't get the new girl!!! Two hours and forty five minutes to get a mani and pedi... NOT gel. Very nice but didn't know the ropes. Took the base coat off some of my nails three times. Put polish in so thin it left bumps, others have tiny bubbles. Owner had to do the design on the big toe. Won't even mention the foot massage. I have to go home and file my hands ( used super rough industrial file and they are tagged) and do the top coat - she only did half the nail. Did I say TWO HOURS AND FORTY FIVE MINUTES??!!! Sheesh. Great spot! Referred by one of my best friends to try this place out while on this side of the island.  The they were quick, friendly and affordable.  $71 for mani & pedi, gel paint on fingers and deluxe pedi.  Also added a flower. Quiet and relaxing too, nice not having a loud tv or radio going.  A steady flow of customers too.  I would refer anyone looking for a salon near Kaneohe USMC Base here. Read Less

Yes you did walk in and yes you were asked if you could come back, but that's where the truth ends.When you returned after your unsuccessful attempts elsewhere..yes I said "weren't you just here.?  NOT under my breathe but right to you.I was at that table the entire time you were gone and the phone Did Not ring, so your appointment you claim you had was not to be. Maybe in your attempts elsewhere you called the wrong place.The nail techs and customers weren't RUDE we just knew that you were trying to get in with a claim of an appointment after been turned away elsewhere...poor thing.In shine nails defense , I am an also in a similar service industry and just because there is an open chair doesn't indicate that there is someone to service it!!So just because you weren't granted instant gratification and act like spoiled brats, doesn't give you the right to post your INACCURATE review.ALL the girls at shine nails do a great job and Michelle "you called the receptionist" yes I decided to give you her name, is polite and very accommodating.Celeste , a bit of advise in the future if your going to an establishment. I want to start off by saying f#*! This place.  When I opened the door there was this creepy lady standing right in front of the door blocking the entrance.  She stood there like Gandalf in lord of the Rings telling me i shall not pass. Why? I dont know. She just says "no mo room. Come back laytah".  I looked over her balding head and saw 2 open seats and 2 workers doing eachothers nails just smirking and staring a me. So I just turned around and started walking back to my car. She then shouts "just come back laytah!". Hm. let me think. how bout nooo! Smh. Disgusting.Go to Happy Nails in Enchanted Lake shopping center. The workers are friendly, attentive, and will take you even when they're short handed! So...2 stars because they took me in to retouch my nails since I wasn't satisfied right after I got them done yesterday...First of all, they were kind enough to take my friend and I as a walk in which was good! When I sat down, I showed the lady a picture of the style I wanted. (mind you, it was my very first time at Shine and I had the eyebrow waxer doing my nails and I think she was still learning, but my friend didn't tell me until we left the salon!) Anyways, she starts painting my nails and messes up a lot, doesn't even paint the full nail, and they already look like it needs to be filled! :-(So whatever I thought it would get better, but once she started gluing the studs onto my nail, it just went downhill! The studs were placed at the very bottom of my nail aka the cuticle!! AND she rested her thumb on my finger while gluing the rest and our skin ended up being glued together, so she had to pry it off with the nail dotter tool -.- Then I asked her to top it off with a matte coating, and the matte didn't cover the whole nail, some polish was still shiny! Today, I woke up and there were white dots at the edge of my nails! Super horrifying, so I went back to the lady that did my friends nails, Michelle, and she put on a regular gel coat polish and more studs, to match the picture I wanted. I learned a few lessons from this sad, first experience at this salon: ask for a good nail technician who does nails decently, and to not get matte coating! I will definitely return to this place no doubt...it was super cheap for a gel set, I paid $35 for mine which is cheaper than what I usually pay. Cusomer service was really great and friendly staff! I came in on Sunday, 15 min after they opened- as a walk-in. The wait was about ten minutes.After being seated I was taken care of pretty immediately, and had the best pedicure of my life (which only cost $25) !! I didn't get the name of who took care of me, but they all seem to do a great job. For the manicure, I just wanted to get my nails cleaned up and get a clear coat to grow them out. The lady who gave me a manicure made my cuticles disappear, the best I've encountered, and I've payed a lottttt more than $15 for a manicure. I think it actually came out under 15 because I got a clear coat. The highlight of my manicure was the massage, again. I work out a lot so my arms were really sore and she massaged almost my whole arm, not just the hand and wrist like most places. Read Less

Oh Thank you Jennifer for coming back to Kailua. I was lucky enough to 'find' her years ago at another shop in Kailua. The shop wasn't great but she was. When she left I think I tried every place in town, and never had the same luck.
