this place is horrible . i went with my friend after school ( around 3 ish ) the place was slow , 3 lady’s and only 1 doing work on a client . we asked if we could just walk in , but the first time we asked , we got ignored . they didn’t even acknowledge us . second time we asked , they told us to wait bc they were “busy” but 2 of them were on their phones . another complaint i have , is that they’re so judgmental . i like my nails long and coffin , so when i told her that’s what i wanted, she told me “nooo , too long ! it’s gonna break ! i cut shorter ..” i didn’t wanna be rude so i just thought she was gonna cut a little bit more which was okay i guess , but she cut it way too short . i’m not a professional nail tech , but i know a lot about acrylics. she got it on my skin and also messed up my polish , when i reminded her about her mistake , she acted as if it was my fault and told me to not touch it and let it dry . the other lady doing my friends nails , she complained her nail tech burnt her skin with the e-file , which is totally unacceptable . and my biggest issue , both nail techs asked us if we were vietnamese . when we said no , they immediately started talking in their own language . barely even socialized with us. the whole time they were speaking vietnamese , and my friend , who looks as if she is , asked her again . kept bothering her , asking “you sure ? you sure you not vietnamese?” we both said no , and they kept on trying to persuade us to get gel when that’s not what we asked for . when we turned down the offer , it seemed as if she was irritated with us . luckily , a old nice lady payed for us , but both nail techs kept telling us to “take a good look at her” so we’ll remember what she looked like .. overall , horrible service , horrible work . i recommend going to vip nails , and ask for tiffany , she’s great and a lot better than this place for sure

I come here because it's literally a 2 min walk from my house, most of the time it's slow and the girls are just sitting around on their phone but when I call for a walk in they say their busy and can't accept anyone. That's confusing. Secondly, they don't have much designs so showing a picture you'd like wouldn't get you very far. Other than that the quality of the work is pretty good and it's for a decent price.

I had an awesome experience with Anne who did my nails! ❤ she was very nice and professional at her job, and thural in removing my 4 week old cal gel I had on my nails, she did an awesome job removing my gel by soaking my nails for a bit and using a drill bit with out hurting my natural nail, and for all the people who do gels and acrylic it can be painful but she was exceptional 💕. She cleaned up my nails so well I never had a service like that in years. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU SEEING ANNE AT MAKIKI NAILS😍 I will DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK JUST TO SEE HER ❤ by the way this my very first review, I don't normally do these kind of things, but I was so blown away, and 100%SATISFIED I HAD TO WRITE ONE!❤ Thank you Anne for my amazing nail service ❤

I know they get a bad rep but after going else where because Tina was busy I can appreciate them more. I'm picky with my feet and they are only getting 3 stars because they turned me away today after I called to set and appointment wth Tina. The 3 stars are for the price, and the job that is fine when I go. The lack of 1 star is for the bad customer service.

The lady who was doing my nails, kept asking me if I wanted gel. Whenever I try out a new place for the first time, I don't get gel because I want to see the work first. I felt like she got mad that I didn't want gel, she rushed it. On top of that, she had no care in the world that she was filing my nails careless. It was just bad. Not going here ever again. Yes the price is great, but the service? No thanks.

Try to avoid this place if you can. Me and my co-worker decided to get mani/pedis and called the day before to make an appointment. They didnt even take down our names or anything. When we arrived, they seemed confused and didn't even have our appointments written down. Luckily there was only one other customer there so we were able to be taken in right away. The ladies there weren't very friendly and the person doing my pedi didn't say one word to me. The quality of the pedicure was so-so. Some of the scrubbing was a little painful and the massage was mediocre. I wasn't asked if I wanted any designs on my toes. What was really gross was the HUGE cockroach scaling the wall right next to me. My nail tech noticed and told her co-worker in Vietnamese to kill it. Not joking...the lady came in with a broom and started whacking the heck out of it. She then looks at me and asks...oh you scared? and starts laughing. Wtf?! That was the only smile I got out of anyone while I was there. In the end, I'm skeptical about the cleanliness of this place because of the roach and my friend said none of the tools were in sanitation packs. She's a RN so she notices things like this. I get pedis to have some relaxation time to myself but this place was extremely depressing.

I won't be returning to this nail place. I walked in to my regular nail salon and it was busy, so they told me to come back in an hour. Well, I had specifically left the house just to get my nails done so that wasn't happening (I also didn't appreciate the tone or attitude upon telling me to come back, but that is besides the point). So, I drove to Makiki Nails as it is right by my apartment. I checked the recent reviews before I walked in and man, I should have just gone home! The place was empty, so I assumed they'd be thrilled to have a customer. I was wrong. I wanted a gel manicure and picked my color. They're all out of that color. I pick another, but it really wasn't what I wanted. Anywho, the "manicure" itself was short and half-a**ed. She barely even pushed back my cuticles. I have a thin layer of skin that grows along my cuticle and NEED it pushed back and/or removed on a regular basis or my nail beds drive me crazy. I do my nails at home pretty regularly, but need a professional manicure every once in a while to help my cuticles. Then, when trimming away the little skin she had pushed back, she cut me! My poor finger was bleeding pretty badly, she put that solution on there to make it stop, but it took some time. The polish job was just okay, she was too heavy with the top coat, which caked and solidified nicely on the sides of a few of my nails resulting in pretty rough edges that seem to get caught on everything I touch! It's only been a day, but I doubt this manicure will last long. Live and learn!

I hate to give anyone such a bad review but unfortunately it was a really bad experience... I called to make an appointment for new gel nails. I tried to explain this on the phone but when I showed up she had booked me for mani and pedi. To remove the previous gel, she had me soak my fingers in a bowl of acetone for a few minutes, and then proceeded to rip it off, completely destroying my real nails. The tools were stored in a drawer in the desk with no form of sterilization. When she filed my nails she moved the file back and forth very roughly, and the result was uneven and further damaged. She only spoke to me to try to pressure me into paying for additional services, and the rest of the time she was yelling to her coworkers in Vietnamese.
I feel terrible giving this review because she was very nice and friendly. Sadly, my nails look lumpy and uneven, and are probably completely destroyed under the gel. Sterilization techniques need a lot of improvement. To end on a good note, I have to say that the prices are very fair, but I will not be recommending Makiki nails to anybody.

I made an appointment for 10:30am on Tuesday, once I got there they were extremely busy due to NYE. I waited until 11am to be taken care of, all technicians were super nice and apologized multiple times for the delay. It is understandable due to the holiday.I was taken care of my JENNI who was kind, patient, genuine and very attentive to how I like my nails. I got a light pink gel manicure and I must say I absolutely love it!!!The job itself was cheaper than many places I have seen, thank you for a great price for an amazing job!The salon is clean and organized.This may become my new nail salon!Thank you ladies, especially Jenni!!

I felt like she got mad that I didn't want gel, she rushed it. On top of that, she had no care in the world that she was filing my nails careless. It was just bad. Not going here ever again. When we arrived, they seemed confused and didn't even have our appointments written down. Luckily there was only one other customer there so we were able to be taken in right away. I won't be returning to this nail place. I walked in to my regular nail salon and it was busy, so they told me to come back in an hour. Well, I had specifically left the house just to get my nails done so that wasn't happening (I also didn't appreciate the tone or attitude upon telling me to come back, but that is besides the point). So, I drove to Makiki Nails as it is right by my apartment. I checked the recent reviews before I walked in and man, I should have just gone home! The place was empty, so I assumed they'd be thrilled to have a customer. I was wrong. I wanted a gel manicure and picked my color. They're all out of that color.
