1st timer today, my grandmother and I were in search for a new place since the 2 girls we used to go to quit the other salon that we went to. We found this beautiful gem per recommendations from other family members and yelp reviews! Well come to find out the 1 girl whom my grandmother and I absolutely love (Phung i hope thats how you spell her name), moved to this salon! We are the happiest and luckiest people to have found her!! She is absolutely great at cleaning! My grandmother suffers from bad ingrown and dry skin and she is the only one that gets the job done for my grandmother!!! I had Lani today and she is just as awesome! Cleaned me very well! I don't really care for designs as I am more of the cuticle, skin cleaning type and they are the ones to clean you up!!  Not to mention Phung does great designs as well!!! I like this place in general- but it's not my #1 choice in nail salons. I would go here for convenience because I work downtown. You should know that they only do fake nails and fills on certain days-- not all the girls are trained...so I went to get a mani pedi and I could only get a pedicure. The place is pretty small, so you might want to call ahead. The pedi I got was basic and cheap- I think like $30 and it was nice, came with a nice leg massage. Very friendly people but not so thorough in their cleaning of the cuticles.  And something got on my nail while they were working on it (hair or something). They attempted to take it off but when they couldn't they just left it. :(   won't go back. Too bad because it's a cute little place in downtown with nice white chairs. Read Less

Visiting for my first time after finding them on Yelp. I need a fill and repair on two nails and I needed it BAD, nothing else bothers me than having crap nails. This salon was nearest to my work and looking at the pictures, probably the best choice. Its located on Smith Street nearer to Nimitz.  First impression: the salon is small, clean, stylish and contemporary. I believe there are about 4 pedi chairs and 2 mani stations. One of the two women that was working greeted me and seated me immediately. Another woman did my nails and repair. No small talk... none at all. I didn't mind, she did my nails perfectly.  I didn't feel rushed and she wasn't rough with my hands. The gel fill wasn't too thick and I didn't have to go home and reshape them like I almost always do. I paid $20 for the fill and $10 for repair on two nails. I will definitely be back! Read Less

LUNCH TIME IS AMATEUR  HOURI walked from Bishop St. on my lunch break to come here because it had such great reviews and my feet really needed it. Spa pedis are $25 and is very basic. Let me just say that the nail salon I usually go to is Waipio Nails and for $25 you get all the regulars plus a foot and calf sugar scrub. I sat down, and immediately loved the view from my chair. You can see the harbor and smell the ocean as there was a nice breeze floating through the double doors which are left open. That was unfortunately the only thing that i liked.First off, the water was super hot...I normally like hotter foot baths, but this was borderline scorching. Then the technician began....fast forward ten minutes and she is still working on the same foot! At this point, she was fumbling around with her cuticle cutter in attempt to cut my nails. The owner had to give her a proper nail cutter- what kind of technician doesn't have their own nail cutter? Then the owner tells me "this is her first day." Oh that kind of tech doesn't have a proper cutters! I also noticed that their tools are not sterile which kind of freaked me out. Now I'm really getting worried because my lunch break is quickly nearing its end and she just started my other foot. She also didn't give my feet a firm scrub with the pumice bar- it was very light and almost ticklish. No extra scrubs or treatments and the massage was short and left a lot of lotion on my leg. I just wanted it to be over so I could leave. She at least "painted in the lines" when applying polish. The owner kept trying to sell me on extras but I repeatedly told her I'm on my lunch break and don't have much time. You'd think after hearing that I am short on time she'd tell the newby to scooch. But no, she went outside to smoke.I really regretted cheating on Waipio Nails with this place. It wasn't worth it and I didn't feel good like I usually do after a pedi, plus I had to sprint back to work, hoping I don't mess up the polish. Read Less

I originially found De Lotus here, on Yelp. I have gone here three times now, all for a spa pedicure. Overall, I really like the salon! I don't know if Lani is the owner or just works there, but she is awesome!Also, the salon is clean and comfortable. The only downfall, is that it the salon is not very big. Make sure you call ahead. Where do a mommies of one year olds, 13 week old pregnant ladies and workaholic ladies get get a mani & pedi on a saturday morning, with that said, needing one ASAP! yep, De Lotus Nails & Hair is the place! Just the name is something that you want to definitelty check out. My girlfriends and I have orignially had appointments at this one salon in Maunakea Marketplace but that changed once we saw the place. I needed to save this girls day ASAP so I turned to my handy dandy yelp app :) and we have found a winner. Within a walk away we found the cute charming salon on smith street and closer to Nimitz Highway, away from the hectic crowded chinatown. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by these three wonderful ladies and from there on everything went perfect. They have 3 spa chairs for pedis and we had the whole place to ourselves, it was just so calm and peaceful with the nice clean atmosphere. There were roses around the salon to make it more relaxed and the the music was very calming. If you find a better looking salon in downtown please let me know but I am sure this place has no competition! They have parking available for customers and I am not the rates because my friends and I parked across Maunakea Marketplace, which is flat rate of $3 on weekends. Mani & Pedis are $35 for just the norm, if you want designs its a little more. I paid about $41 for my whole treatment. The massages to my feet were magical, only becuase I am very ticklish so she knew it from the start and took her time. And my manicure was just lovely, she massaged my arms and made me wanting more. (They also do massages!) I think next time I will have to schedule a massage with them. It is also quite nice to be able to have a converstaion with your nail artist instead of them talking in another languauge. They were very nice and I totally forgot their names but my girlfriends and I were very pleased with their customer service. It felt like we knew them for a while, it was just a natural relationship between customers and employees! The only thing that would make this place as perfect as it can get is more nail polishes. They have bit of collection but they have room for lots more. And also they don't really have a client book to look through designs of what you want on your nails so my friends and I just searched it ourselves on our phone and showed them how we wanted it. They did admit that they are not imaginative but they can copy designs very well, which I totally agree! All in all the day was saved by these wonderful women at De Lotus Nails & Hair! I was really excited to try this place after reading the great reviews. I went there today at 11am and there were no customers yet and just one employee. I asked for a full set and she said that the guy that does them will be back soon. I waited for a few minutes then asked her how long he would be. She said 10-15 mins. I said ok and went to get coffee and came back about 15 minutes later. Upon my return I go inside to discover that NO ONE was there! They left the doors to the business unlocked and no one was there! Not only is that bad customer service to ask me to return only to find out no one is there, but to leave your business open with no one inside? Someone could have easily stolen things from there. I even tried calling them hoping it was maybe a cell phone number to see if they would be back soon but no one answered. So I left and went else where. Won't be returning here again. Read Less

A good friend recommended this place to me and I have to say I'm not disappointed.  Unpretentious, yet clean, fresh and new, the salon owner, Lani, goes above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of.  I came in on my lunch hour for a spa pedicure and was done within my hour.  Lani didn't rush and did a fantastic job. She uses a masque on your legs and feet, which leaves them baby soft.  She does a hot stone massage which feels wonderful.  Couple all of that with brand new massage chairs and wonderful relaxing music, you leave this place feeling like a million bucks!This will be the only place I will go for pedicures from now on.  Unfortunately, she does not do acrylic for the nails, only gel.  So if you are like me and have those, you will have to go elsewhere for acrylic nail action. I enjoyed my mani/pedi, and the best part was the massage!  Lani was very nice and does a good job with your cuticles and nails, and she takes her time.  I liked that she wasn't just trying to power through it and rush me out.  The guy scrubbed the bottom of my feet with the pumice-thing but he didn't have the right rhythm for it so it was okay but he probably just needs more practice.  He did do a wonderful job with the massaging of my feet/legs and hands/arms!  Not sure if he is Lani's husband, or if he's her neighbor's husband, but I want another massage, pronto!  The Petra spa chairs are also awesome and really get into your back muscles.  Also did a brow wax for $10 but I wouldn't do it again..there were still visible hairs, both baby hairs and some thick stubles.  When I mentioned it she tried picking a few of them out again, I acted like it looked ok when I looked at my brows again because I didn't want to deal with it.  I guess most of the hair was cleaned up but I wouldn't do the waxing again.  Paid $35 for the mani/pedi + $10 for the brow wax.  I'll definitely come here again, but without the wax.  Pros:Small salon, 3chairs, not loud nor sprawling with teenie boppers or kids (so I got to relax).Open 7 days a week.Great massage (the guy does it).Massage chair is great (Petra brand). Came here as it is close to my workplace and was pleasantly surprised by my experience. With an advertised special for a $20 pedicure and great reviews, I was sold.  I had a pedicure and my pedicure started off with the guy then Lani took over. The guy was nice but Lani was the true professional; she is great with cutting nails and cuticles, always my biggest concern. The girl after me got the real treatment as she opted for the spa pedicure. I think I will spring for that next time as it seemed like a big difference in quality (though my pedi was good). Park in the municipal parking. Very clean, small but good selection of OPI, China Glaze, and Zoya with a generous amount of glitter polishes. I will be back! Read Less

In the not so distant past, the nail shops in the vicinity (Fort St, and some random hair shops in Chinatown) all looked uninviting and dirty, so I always opted to wait until the weekend to go somewhere nicer looking....but not anymore!De Lotus is a nice little nail shop on Smith St. in Marin Tower (right across from the parking lot.) Everything is still new and clean and the owner was playing very relaxing music, so it was a very pleasant place to be. The owner was very sweet and attentive as well. The one hair salon I did go to that offered nails SUCKED (it will remain unnamed because 1) it's close by to this place 2)  they were super nice and their hair services were awesome.) As a rule of thumb, a  mani-pedi CANNOT be that great when the salon doesn't even have a pedicure chair and/or nail station in the place! Now I can't speak upon De Lotus' haircut services, but they did a GREAT job on my gel french mani and pedi! I think that's their main focus.... Granted I was the only one in there at 12n, but that's a great thing. They gave me their undivided attention and did my nails with care. I personally love that I can get my nails done during my lunch break and not waste my weekend!Prices are the going market rate (off the top of my head, $35 mani-pedi, $14 mani, $25 pedi, $10 eyebrow wax, $7 lip wax, $5 extra for french.....), although there are offering a 30% discount if you come in between 9a-2pm by 2/14/2012. If you live/work in downtown, near Smith St., definitely come on in, its a great little mani-pedi oasis at an affordable price. Open M-Sat 9am-7pm, closed Sundays.Pros:-Clean, new equipment and space-Nice pedi-chairs with massage-Close to my work!-Affordable-Lots of parking-Good workmanship-Takes appts, but can walk in as well. Since opening a mere three months, it feels like De Lotus has developed  a good groove.   This is a tiny shop with two salon chairs and three manipedi seats.  Mani-pedi prices start at $35. They also have a deluxe version with sea salt scrub and parrafin for a little bit more.Since I was pressed for time, I settled on the basic mani-pedi. My nail tech was very careful to remove all that cuticle build up and gingerly took time to shape and polish my neglected nails.Lani, the shop's owner, is very cheery and generously offered me a beverage while I got my nails done. Pleasantries make such a big difference especially in service establishments. I barely noticed the chairs we standard and not massage ones. But the interior spaces are fresh and clean, something I value more than a mechanical massage.Will be back again soon. Read Less
