Katie is good at what she does however there have been two occasions where I set appointments with her and I find myself waiting for hours today is the last time that is going to happen because I’m not going over there anymore. I got there since 4:37 she told me that she had one person but while I was getting my feet done waiting on her; she went and took a client that literally just walked in. I mean where is the respect? My time is valuable, I’m a mom, who works a full time job and go to school full time so when I find time in between my busy schedule do pamper myself I shouldn’t walk out the way I walked because you don’t value my time or money. Business is about customer satisfaction because that is how you get pay. I’ve never had that problem prior to moving to this side of town. I went to get a manicure on Tuesday, at 650pm, I saw regular customers come in and get service right away. I waited for over an hour, along with an older gentleman that only wanted a manicure. The receptionist didn't care or acknowledge that they were understaffed , and didn't even apologize for the delay. I only waited because everywhere else was closed and its hard to get time to myself with a 3 yr old. I was finally sitted and the service was great! I asked about Mr. Archy (the older gentleman) only to find out 45 more min had passed and he still had not been service. When he asked for the manager and advised he had waited an hour and 45 mins, the manager came out just looked at him as he explained the situation calmly. He didn't offer to service him, he didn't apologize or anything. Mr Archy advised that he would never come to the establishment again and would advised his wife to do the same along with anyone he knows that frequents the place . He was very pleasant person that I met as I waited for service, he is veteran and had just been released from the hospital due to heart complications . He said he just wanted to look nice for his wife before he went home and return to work the next day. The staff laugh as he left and the manager said "so what" as if he didn't care to lose a customer. I tell this story because I see this happen all the time and I'm done patronizing business that just don't care, I will not be returning ever again to this establishment or any others like it. This morning I was sat with a women whom was obviously annoyed but while being serviced I was nicked twice by her drill, my nails were a little crooked and the SNS color I had on didn’t appear the same as it did on display. At that point I wanted to forget my toe polish change and just soak what I had off. When I expressed my bad experience, it was told to me I still had to pay for the SNS service that I wanted removed. I understood paying for the removal but not paying for t...he service that I wasn’t happy with or leaving with. When I said that I’d pay for the removal and not the SNS service, the staff threatened to call the police to force me to pay for the unsatisfactory service I’d received. I then told the staff that I’d be willing to wait for the police because there was no way I was paying for a service that I was leaving without. I had came here plenty times and the people are always nice. The store is clean and they do use liners for pedicures. Workers are nice I don't get my nails done here but I do get pedicures. Their pedicure is great but you do want to be aware of who you pick to do your pedicure. I personally love a great foot massage with my pedicure and sometimes I don't get that. I won’t say the entire nail shop is bad because I’ve had experiences where I was satisfied with my nails, but my last visit I was PISSED. April the nail tech there cannot do nails & she is very disrespectful. I was in that shop nearly 2 hours doing a full set on my hands, from taking off cricket nails that were applies by her, her cutting one nail too short on one hand and having to do it again. The gel polish not drying under the light, I WAS UPSET. After about 4 times of tr...ying to paint over and over he gel polish I told her to remove the nails off of my hands. After reading the reviews, I decided to give this place a chance... the first time I went... my experience was pleasant, I got an acrylic fill (cat eye) and a pedi. I was pleased with the service and the time it took to complete the service... however I went back tonight for a fill, the gentleman at the door tells me it will be awhile, I asked how long is a while? He says 30 minutes. So I decided to wait since I was a walk in. 45 minutes later, he sits me at a work station only to wait another hour and 15 mins...I finally left, nails undone and disappointed. Today's experience at Chan & Bay will be my last. First you had me soak my SNS nails for 1 hour (when I got them 2 weeks ago I was told it was a 5 minute soak to remove). Next I'm moved to a chair for my pedicure (the guy did an excellent job). An older lady with a lazy eye came to start my nails. This lady usually does feet so I was a bit surprised. After about 15 minutes she wants to move me out of the spa chair to the desk. I awkwardly obliged. Once seated she starts drilling at my nail bed to the point of pain. I told her I chose SNS because I didn't want damaged to my nails. I then let her know I wanted tips and coffin shaped. She tells me she's getting me someone else. 15 minutes later no one has come back to me. I alert the manager and in about 10 more minutes the next young lady starts. She advises me she has to charge me $5 more than the same service I had 2 weeks ago. I alerted the manager again about my disappointment with the service and length of time and he did nothing. PLEASE READ ENTIRELY: Fair review! Arrived at 6:30, wasn't seen until 7:15 and knew they would rush and want to go home. I asked for a takeoff/full set, but he insisted I do another fill (for the sake of time most likely). The technician said in a mildly joking manner "you're making me stay late". I had a broken nail, so I had to get it fixed. We actually finished a few minutes after 8. The nail that was repaired is much shorter than the rest of my nails (I actually have another repair that's also short, from a diff salon). These days salons don't care to shape/match your nails evenly. Upon finishing, he did not initially wipe down my nails with acetone after they set under the UV. He gave me a quick hand massage, and applied cuticle oil and lotion. However, this interfered with the top coat, and he had to redo with another coat. He then left me to click the button on the UV machine myself on each hand. Upon finishing, my pinkie nail still showed a spot of my old gel polish, my thumbs weren't cleaned on the side (extra polish) and my thumb had multiple bubbles from having to add another top coat. Upon all this, before having to do this, I tipped him. Not what I would normally, but I felt rushed and didn't like the shape of my nails, nor did I get the service (new set) I asked for while arriving an hour & a half before they closed. I was ready to go home too...It's not my fault I waited almost 45 minutes to be seen. These nails are enough to get me through, but I won't be returning. 1st impressions are lasting impressions, and I'm tired of salons rushing jobs, and doing sub par work unless you pay $50+ for designs, ombré, etc. (All of which I've had before). I'm not a fancy girl, and like it simple more often than not. Basic fills with gel polish should be treated equally. This was my first and LAST time ever attending this establishment. It was beautifully setup inside, however the customer service was ABSOLUTELY horrible. I first waited for about 20-30 mins, which was expected b/c it's Saturday and I didn't have an appt. made. Once I was seated, my nail tech was extremely rude until the point I requested to get my nails taken off ( He was a bald guy with gray hairs on the side of his head ). I asked the manager for a different nail tech. Indeed he assigned me to a different one, but I assumed she didn't feel like doing my nails either due to a huge altercation they had in the middle of the floor after I was seated in her area. At that point, I just requested that my nails truly be soaked off and I left. Need I remind you, I never fussed or cussed anyone out. I was never rude. I was polite with everything I did, even with leaving. I'm guessing they had an extremely busy day but my advice is to never take out your anger on the next person b/c that person has nothing to do with how you are feeling. Nice decor and setting. I went in for a pedicure and manicure. I had an older lady doing both. I Ended up getting the Lux & Lush pedicure and basic manicure. I still have dead skin around my toes and she barely scrubbed my feet. They still feel the same as before I went for the pedicure. The hot stone felt okay but nothing special. My manicure started off okay. She cut down my nails, I was okay with that. But her filing down on them sucks, they were still rigged and rough and I had skin still hanging off. But, the worst part was when she went to paint my nails, there were spaces and it was not smooth at all, when I told her about the spaces she just says oh I will put another coat, Which definitely made it worse. I just told her to take it off and she tried to repaint them. She started to repaint them and asked another lady to finish, this lady was worse than her because she put the paint on so thick. I was expecting a lot less since it was in a Kroger shopping center. I was happily surprised! It is huge, clean, and hygienic inside. The employees are fast and very nice, despite the young front desk man who seemed bothered by my questions and ignored me then passed me to my tech who was a lot more helpful. Otherwise I would have gave them five stars.When I got my gel nails done and the color wasn't what I wanted my tech took the time to change it and made sure each nail was perfectly painted. I did expect some sighing because I'm a bit much sometimes with my nails as I always ask  to make sure all edges smooth so my pantyhose doesn't get snagged or hair caught in edges. He didn't flinch or look at me crazy, just double checked and made sure it was all good.Another tech helped my little niece get sparkly nails and was patient and sweet with her.They have refreshments available for customers in cute plastic wine glasses varying from milk to wine. Really convenient since in a shipping center with bank, grocery store, and several choices of did places too. Think I found my perfect south side nail salon. Beautiful decor and atmosphere! An older lady did my pedicure and I wasn't impress at all. I decided to give this salon a chance honestly because of the decor. Huge mistake....I wasn't satisfied with the pedicure and will not return. The older lady wasn't friendly and appeared to be bothered; if that was the case then she's definitely in the wrong business. Another young lady who did someone else pedicure she offered her water and candy. I was truly impressed by that however the elderly lady who waited on me didn't offer me a thing but a sorry pedicure. This salon is probably the prettiest in the area But they use cheap polish. The tech pulled some Klean color out of toolbox, everyone knows this is $1 cheap nail polish. Why have a salon so nice and use cheap polish? My toe nails chipped 2 days later, while on vacation . The tech that did my pedicure (olderalso tried to get away with not scrubbing my feet with pomace stone. Now Annie did my gel manicure, she took her time and did it right. This nail salon does not stand by their gel nail policy. I have been coming to this nail salon for about 2 months now as I just moved to the area. On several occasions my gel manicure has been sub par. I've often debated just going back to Buckhead which is a 40 minute commute just to get a perfect manicure. On a positive note, Lynn does an amazing pedicure here and Tom gives me a perfect manicure. Unfortunately, last week I did not see Tom when I came in so I let someone else do my manicure. Here we are a week later and my manicure has chipped drastically. Not one finger but 5. I went back into the salon to have them redo it and the woman at the counter refused to redo my nails. Asking me for my receipt saying that "it's possible I didn't get a manicure". When I told her I would pull up my bank statement with the charge on it for $95 (gel manicure, deluxe pedicure with hot stones & tip) she said  "it doesn't itemized so i wouldn't be able to tell if  you really got a gel manicure. Plus, it's probably been over the five day policy. Which is posted somewhere in here on one of these signs". I don't like a company who sells products or services that don't stand behind their product. I wasn't trying to get over or get anything free. I was just trying to get my two week manicure that I paid for. I believe that I was treated unfairly and that showing my bank statement that I had come in the week before should have sufficed for showing proof that I was there and that I spent a lot of money on services. While I enjoy Lynn, Cindy and Tom, I will not be back to this salon spending money in an establishment that doesn't stand by their services and who accuses their customers of lying about what services they got. Normally I have nothing but great things to say about this salon. However today has been the worst service that I've received since coming here from the moment I walked in to meeting the host up until now. The host was a young male who is not friendly nor does he seem very personable. Linda is whom I'm typically greeted by but she is not here today. I asked for S&S and a pedicure only to have my nail tech rush through the pedicure process, and it was NOT relaxing at all! And after about 30 minutes later, I'm still waiting to get my nails done. I'm NEVER going back! Decor is cute but service was a nightmare! I went and told them I wanted to get a fill-in and my eyebrows threaded. The young girl who did it smh NO!!!!! She used a file to shape my nails. Fine...until she filed the side of my finger!!!! Then she used the drill. She nicked me! I didn't know it until after I left. The girl who did my nails also did the eyebrows. Me getting them done was completely neglected but I was so ticked I was glad they forgot and wanted to leave ASAP. As my nails were drying the man from the front desk said they were dry. I asked if he was sure. He "checked" them and said they were. When I went in my purse to pay I ruined 4 nails! Like prior review stated.. Very nice establishment but one of the worst nail services I've received! I got a basic pedicure by a young lady and it had to be no more than 10 minutes long! I understood that with it being a basic pedi that it wouldn't be top notch but it should not have been 10 min and the finished job was horrible. I still had dead skin around toenails, unpainted sides and my baby toe wasn't even polished all the way! I will not be going back, I don't care how "extravagant" the environment it. I went to this facility last night. It was raining so badly and I could not get to the nail spa I love and usually visit. This has got to be the worst pedicure I have ever had. The technician who serviced me actually cut my toe causing it to bleed, and was non-nonchalant about it as though it was no big deal. The individual who appeared to be "managing" the spa at the time came over and I explained my displeasure. He seemed like it was no big deal; and offered a 10% discount as though that would appease me or make up for the blood oozing out of the big toe on my right foot. To say that I will NOT return there for a pedicure is an understatement. What I will say is that if I develop an infection in my toe as a result of this experience, I will revisit them with an attorney. I also got a new full set. I give this place 3 stars because the atmosphere is nice and welcoming but the service I received was lacking.I came for a fill-in, with gel polish already on my nails.  The technician was so rough removing the polish, my nails began to hurt.  I told him and he eased up so that was good. He had to fix two nails that were broken and ended up getting a thick layer of acrylic under both nails. This is actually an easy fix, but i was a little scared. When he began filing after doing the fill-in he got close to my cuticle on a few nails.   I didn't ask for a new tech because everyone has to learn and a person can improve if you don't give criticism.  I was scared to have him drill under my nails for this reason, but he did well.A different tech ended up coming to polish my nails, and this is where I got a little irritated. I selected a gel color, that ended up not being available. When he came back to tell me that the color wasn't available and to select a different one, i asked for him to check two colors and he didn't like that.   He seemed irritated that I would ask him to look for two colors, but I figured it was easier than having him go back and forth. Well by the time he painted that new color on 3 nails, I realized I hated it the way it looked on my fingers and I asked him to change it - he really had an attitude now. But it was before I had to go under the UV light so it was an easy fix.The upside is that my nails still look good after 2 weeks.  Oh and if you want to get the 20% off your first visit, make an appointment, otherwise they'll just offer $5 for walk ins.  Despite everything, I would go back and give them another try, just different techs next time.  I'll update thie review when i go. They have several gel polish colors to choose from and also offer a variety of different services. Jason did a wonderful job with my pedicure!
