I went here Tuesday with my stepdaughter to get a manicure for graduation. We arrived just after 9 am when the hours on Google said they opened. The hours on the door said 9:30. We waited and I wish we would have gone somewhere else. Two men opened the salon and a customer went running in before we could get in the door and kept giving us dirty looks. The young man who helped her spent the entire time listening to/watching a live video on his phone. When we asked for a manicure we were questioned several times, did we want a full set. I finally said no, just a manicure and the man who helped us put cuticle softener into a plastic bag and put our fingers inside. I've had manicures, full sets and many other services done at nail salons. I've never seen a staff so rude to their customers. As we were sitting there with bags on our hands a man came in for a pedicure. They told him there was a wait so he left, then they proceeded to laugh at him and make fun of him. They talked about my stepdaughter and I as well because we didn't spend as much money as they thought we should. My stepdaughter smudged her nails before they were dry and he had to repaint half of them and he just about threw a fit. A classic manicure as described on their price card included a hot towel and massage with lotion. We were charged for the classic manicure price but he just painted our nails. My stepdaughter has chipped 3 nails so far and it's been 2 days. I tried so hard to find something good about this experience, but I just can't. Something that was supposed to be relaxing and a treat for my stepdaughter for graduation was just someone putting bags on our hands and painting our nails. I'm very disappointed and dissatisfied. I️ needed to be in and out in an hour with a mani pedi and they did it! Great colors, my only complaint is I️ wanted polka dots and they didn’t quite understand what I️ wanted. But I️ could have gotten them to change it if I️ wasn’t in a hurry. Super nice! Read Less

Let me start by saying I don't live in the area; I live by NYC but was visiting my parents. SNS/dip powder nails are just starting to gain steam up where I live, and I was pleasantly surprised to see so many nail salons offer it in Savannah. I went in to get an SNS (dip powder) manicure. The man who did my nails was efficient and thorough. My nails still look perfect 11 days later! And I was very happy it only cost $30- but I will say they may have been a communication issue, because I didn't actually get a full manicure. He only quickly cut & filed my nails before moving onto the dipping. So if you get a legit SNS manicure it may cost more than $30. I'm giving 5 stars because the quality of my nails are great, the price was great, and it didn't take too long (it was a little less than 1 hour). I would say this is probably not the best place to get a long, relaxing pedicure or to find a great environment/ambiance-- the place is pretty bare inside and not decorated nicely. It was a little bit awkward/uncomfortable because my sister and I were the only clients in there for a while and there was no music on (and the TV was on mute and on a really boring channel). Love Modern Nails!! I highly recommend! All nail techs are great, very affordable and it has an overall great atmosphere! A couple of weeks ago I came in got a manicure and pedicure while I was getting my pedicure another tech started working on my nails to make it a fast and convenient but great service. The same day I also came in with a picture of Tommy Hilfiger inspired nails, Angelica one of the nail techs took her time to make sure it was exactly what I asked for. I've lived in Savannah for the past 7 years and have had trouble finding a quality nail salon. Crazy, right?! Luckily, Modern Nails was recommended to me recently. I stopped by this afternoon to have my old acrylics removed (done by another salon). It took about 2 HOURS (due to the age of the set and two especially troublesome nails) I felt so bad for my nail tech that I tipped him extra! He was very patient, knowledgeable, friendly, meticulous—and perhaps most importantly— gentle! Afterward, I got a gel mani in my favorite color and am thrilled with the result! I look forward to coming to Modern nails every couple weeks. Their prices are insanely low for the quality of service they provide. I usually get the sds dip on my real nails which costs $30. I always leave giddy about how good my nails look and they last three weeks or longer. The staff are a blast to hang out with. I also like that most of the staff and young and friendly. All around it's great and it took me 6 months of trying different salons in the area before I found this one and I haven't gone anywhere else since. Read Less

My friend goes here, so I decided to try it out. I didn't have the best experience. The lady who gave me a pedicure cut all of my toe nails crooked, and then proceeded to cut her own nails before filing mine... it was really awkward. She then did a poor job applying polish. I live in Pooler but I drive here every time I need my nails or eyelashes done. The prices are reasonable and my favorite nail tech ever Anthony is just awesome. He hooks me up with the best looking lashes every single time. And I don't sit in the salon all day. Very efficient and just the sweetest. Go in and ask for him.Read Less

I have been coming to Modern Nails for the past 2 years almost & I must say I love it here! I NEVER let anyone else touch my nails. They have SO MANY colors to choose from and I love the small salon atmosphere. My nail technician is Anthony and I must say he is great ! I always get gel polish on my natural nails & he always does exactly what I want and gets me in and out in a timely manner! I would definitely recommend this nail salon to anyone that I know! I just went there Monday to get a fill and my eyebrows done Tuesday my nail come up where they did the fill. I called them yesterday but no one answer I guess they don't was close for the 4th I went this morning and they told me $3.00 to fix my nail they just did on Monday. I go here every two weeks to get my nails, toes and eyebrows done I never spend less than $40.00 here but they just lost my business. Read Less

My second visit. Not crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Able to get in without wait. Trying gel for pedicure today. Still 2 chairs open and 6 techs on duty. Good to know they do eyelashes as well; singles 25.00. Gel pedicure 30.00. Variety of designs available also. Pleased after my last visit and decided to try again. I give a one star because it won't let you give less than that. First I was annoyed that they try and serve more than one customer at a time because then somebody is getting a rushed job. Second I paid extra for a French mani/ pedi I had showed the head tech the polish wasnt taking properly still got charged full price and she painted again. Literally 10 minutes down the road the paint pealed right off my nails all of them. I returned to the salon she says they will do them again in gel are her exact words. After her tech does them she gets up and tells me that will be an additional $15. My mouth fell open. Had I known was going to be charged extra on top of the extra I was already charged for their horrible work I would have just asked for my money back and didn't even need them to take the polish off since it was already gone Read Less

A bit above what you'd expect from a strip mall nail salon.  About average on decor, pricing, and some attempts to upsell you (me: "$20 pedicure, please." Lady: "gel manicure and deluxe pedicure?" Me: "nope, just a pedicure" lady: "okay, for $30 you can get deluxe loofah pedi for very dry feet.  $20 sign out front just a BASIC pedicure." Me: "sigh, ok." (What can I say, she wore me down! Ha!).   The massage was nice and long, with a hot stone massage.  As I was sittipng at the drying station (all done), Lucy came back over to give me a shoulder/back massage and chat.  Awesome!  Expect the basic inquisitions into your marital status, # of kids, and current location of your husband.   Haha, I love that from nail salons... coast to coast... they want to ensure you are marrying off and reproducing.  ;)  All jokes aside, I'd come again... I'm nice and massaged, my toes look nice.  Maybe not the fanciest looking place, but what do you expect for $20... errr, make that $30.  ;) Read Less

I have read so many nice reviews about this salon, so I decided to try it myself, because it is not a secret - it's so difficult to find a decent nail salon in Savannah... And I have to say - that was my biggest disappointment yet, no wonder all good reviews were at least 1 year old... it started from me being seated to wait a bit and suddenly I was approached from behind by somebody and started feeling that somebody's hands on my shoulders, back and neck, trying to massage me. As being not so happy about being touched without even being asked, I still appreciated their thought of pampering. But it really started bothering me, when massaging person would just rest her hands on my neck while talking with co-worker, and being so distracted that her fingers caught into my hoop-earing and she kept massaging and pulling on my ear for couple minutes, until I finally asked her to stop. As for the nails - I have tried to explain why I came here and what I would like to be done, but I was interrupted right away: "don't worry, I have a lot of customer, I know.." That happened few times.. And sure enough - my natural nails were filed so much, that they became twice shorter, also they were given ugly square shape. More than that - I have asked to glue/strengthen couple cracks on the nail sides, so acrylic powder was put, but the nail would not be evened out, so they turned out with thick sides and nothing in the middle, all wavy and unevenly filed (although she made my nails square, the one side of the nail was longer than another). I tried to explain again, that I am not happy, heard the same answer "don't worry, I just put the polish.." I was so upset, that I didn't even want her to do anything else with my nails and just asked her to allow me to pay for what has been done. Not only she started talking angry with coworker in Chinese right in front of my face - she charged me 20$, nevertheless I didn't even get the nail polishing... oh yeah, and since they didn't have sufficient change, I end up paying more... I have been coming to this salon for a couple of years now and really like it. The customer service is great. The new owner is very nice and makes sure that the customers are taken care. I stopped in here after work for a manicure.  It had good reviews on google and was $13.  It was a very small, dark, dingy shop.  Does not look like the pictures on google or its website.  When I walked in, 3 kids were running wild and knocking into the nail stations with no supervision.  Two employees were working on pedicures, but the area looked like it had not been cleaned recently.  The OPI nail polishes looked they had had been re-filled by knock-offs because they did not look like the correct shade. The owner was talking to another client about how her man was going to F*$# her so good later that night (not the type of classy, professional shop owner I was hoping for).  I turned around and left the nail salon at that moment.  After I got in my car, the owner's elderly mother came out, knocked on my window, and asked "Why you no nails?"  How knows, maybe they paint nails well, but I wasn't willing to risk the headache and bacteria to find out.  It  is well worth paying an extra $3 to have a clean, relaxing manicure down the road at Crystal Nails. My daughter brought me to the salon for the first time 2 years ago and I have been coming here twice a month since that time. They give the most relaxing and best pedicures & manicures in Savannah. The staff is exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. They even give you a great neck massage after your service. Once you come here you will never go to another nail salon. I know I won't!
