I graduated from ESI back in 2009 and have been back to visit and have had services a number of times. As a professional esthetician, I have worked for a skin care company and visited over a dozen esthetics schools throughout the Southeast US. I can honestly say that ESI is by far the best one I have been to. Nothing in life is perfect, but I can assure you that most other schools are severely lacking in the basics, while ESI provides training in advanced techniques and modalities. Several times I have been called for an interview because I had ESI on my resume. I stared my esthetics training at another school that was incredibly unprofessional. Instructors would leave the classroom mid way through the school day and we students had to sit there and do nothing. Equipment was filthy and/or broken. Basic sanitation and disinfection guidelines from the state board of cosmetology were blatantly ignored (gross!). Administration didn't care and ignored complaints. Read Less

I am a current student at this school and I’m on the verge of quitting. It’s way too over crowded. There is no place to have lecture. A lot of days you’ll be doing nothing because the treatment tables are filled up. The owner is just money hungry. A new class starts EVERY month which is why there is no real structure. I DONOT reccomend you to go this school you will be very very disappointed. Amazing experience at ESI. Taylor at the front desk is so professional and helpful, making sure I got the right facial treatment for my skin concerns and working with my changing schedule to accommodate me. Tatiana talked me through my customized oxygen facial and helped me understand how to take care of my skin. I've also had my nails done here and it was also a good experience. My daughter and I had Oxygen facials this morning and both enjoyed them. It was her first facial and she said the technician was nice, made sure she was comfortable, knew what she was doing and gave her skincare advice and product tips that my daughter felt were really helpful.I also thought my technician was wonderful. She was gentle with my skin but thorough in the way she washed, extracted and massaged my face. She was very engaging and made sure that I was comfortable and not feeling any discomfort.The facility is very clean and spacious. All the staff we encountered, from the greeter at the front desk to the techs who performed our services, were welcoming and always had a smile on their face. We liked it so much we immediately scheduled more facial appointments over the next few months.Don't be turned off by the fact that these techs are students - they take their work seriously and want to provide you with great service.Check groupon for deals but if they aren't available prices are still very reasonable and worth every penny. Although this is a school, you must be professional in returning a client's call. There isn't any excuse for that, especially when the person has asked to be called twice before and/or requested a specific student. Some are better than others. I am currently a student at ESI my personal experience has been a positive one. I will say that it is what you make it. If you choose to come in everyday with a positive attitude and ready to learn this is the school for you. My class is my family and we are determined to succeed. If you come in with a negative attitude and create issues where there are no issues to be had, you will not enjoy your experience. Great service. The student are always extra friendly and excited to be working with you. The quality of the work is ok, and when compared to the price you pay for amateur work, it's kind of pricey. They always have groupons and yelp deals thy make it a bit more justifiable. I've been here three times and the first time my experience was good, the second time it was ok, and the third time is was below mediocre. I'll probably take a break from Elaine sterling and try some other places around town. The decor is kitschy and a gaudy, and they really try to push their product hard during your session. They also cannot accept tips since they are not "trained/certified professionals" so if you tip in front of the staff that cash does not go to your esthetician it goes straight to the company. I suggest you tip the student prior to leaving the room if you want your tip to actually go to them. I'm not a super fan of this place. Read Less

I did not realize until last week while taking my state boards how great of a school I attended. I did very well on my exams, but especially on the practical exam. Not only did I get a 98 on the exam, but I felt so prepared! You could tell who went to ESI and who didn't. We looked the most professional and completed every task without a problem. I was honestly proud to be a student from ESI. I have to give credit to Ms Wanda my pro artistry/waxing instructor. She is AMAZING! ...She was so organized, inspirational, knowledgeable, and kept me wanting to come to school everyday! She was truly a wonderful instructor. Also, Ms De was a key asset to me achieving what I did at the boards. She is a great instructor who knows her stuff and is willing and happy to share with her students that are willing to learn. It was an interesting nine months of school. Ultimately I passed my boards with flying colors so regardless of the shuffling of teachers and disorganization, it got the job done. The best teachers I had are the ones who are still there: Ms Janet, level one, she is incredible, has tons of spa experience and laid a great foundation for my skills as an esthetician. She is truly an educator and wants the best for the students. Secondly, Ms Wanda, Pro Artistry & Level 3, she is we...ll versed in makeup & waxing, has tons of credentials and taught us meticulously about both. she was very organized and structured and scheduled our days so that we were always busy either in theory or hands on and kept us on a track that guaranteed we would be finished with our credits by the time we were finished. I feel confident going out into the work force being taught by these two women. Lastly is Ms D, who took over and straightened out Level 2 by bringing a much needed level of organization and structure to the program. She was also our liaison to State Board and prepared us perfectly for our test and practical. You could tell during the practical that ESI students were miles ahead of the other schools. The school was amazing when i first got there my amazing instructor Ms.Diane became like a second mom. She was very experienced,always inspiring others,helpful with anything and always hands on. School was great for a couple of months then i began to notice the lack of communication between administration and students. We only had 1 school meeting the entire 11 months i was there. Things would change like the days we could make up days and we just heard about it by word of mo...uth. There weren't enough instructor. We had an instructor 2 times a week out of 5 days of class for a period of time.The student to instructor ratio was ridiculous at points and times. I had an amazing pro-artistry teacher Ms.Wanda who was also very hands on and could wax someone so clean in one pull like i have never seen before. When i signed up i was promised a mac pro kit but ended getting a krylon kit that i HATE but i know how to use it thanks to ms.wanda. I recently graduated from Esi in April and I after completing the course I say I have a love and hate relationship. The school staff changes way to often where you can't really get to build a relationship with them , since they leave right after you meet them (most). The organization can be a little more strict. I feel as though some of the situations could have be resolved that occurred there if more cameras were placed to have back up from when other situations occurred. Over crowed at times when in class making it overwhelming at times to learn . The teachers I had were Mrs. Liz great teacher she has a lot of knowledge and have strong qualities about her overall if I wanted to learn something about using natural and or healing products I loved coming to her and just going really in depth with the plants and home ingredients we use on the daily that are great healing products. Mrs Janet was my first teacher I had when I started she full of life everyday like she never had a bad day and if she did you would never know her songs helping me with studying time still to this day I sing to help remember she can spell almost anything as well and hardly ever use a book to teach one of my favorites for life . Mrs. D I met towards the end but her Test out for state board helped me go in with cofindence and I'm licensed now . My last teacher I had before I graduated was my teacher Mrs Wanda she didn't play any games she was strict but fun she'll make you go outside your comfort to help with making you do something great you never tried to do cause you was scared she helped me with really looking into detail with using all my surroundings around me. This Has been a horrible experience! I went to this school and things were so unorganized,It is sad i had to quit because things were not getting changed ! The school administrators never helped they always said they had other things they were working on it! Also never replied to my requests or emails! Bought a package of 5 massages on Groupon and I am so happy I did! I'm in shock that I had a student working on me, only because if was the best massage I have ever received. RONKE was attentive and really knew what she was doing. She performed deep tissue and myofascial release on me. I was in a car wreck in December and was injured. She worked out all my kinks in my neck and worked on all my trigger points perfectly! I HIGHLY recommend this place for a excellent massage for half the cost. This is great for people who prefer saving money and going to a school instead of a spa. There's a nice waiting room, always a helpful receptionist, and the students are so nice and professional! I was previously a student in the nail care program and am currently a student in the new massage program. Initially, with the nail care program, I felt the program to be overlooked because it is not Elaine's specialty. It took a lot of fighting (not physically) to get the program to grow. Even though it seemed that Elaine overlooked us, I will say that her hiring of instructors certainly made up for what she lacked in caring about our program. It seems that the program has improved since I've returned as a new student. I'm not particularly fond of the owner herself. It is a personal issue and not a reflection of her establishment as a whole. She has certainly paid her dues and is still building the institute to be one of the most competitive and prestigious in the field of health and beauty. So far, I am thoroughly enjoying being a massage student. The instructor is amazing and the smaller class allows more attention to detail per student. As a student you receive complementary services so as to assist students with earning their required credits. Every interaction is professional but also comforting, as even though we may be in different programs, we are all fighting the same battle of becoming licensed in our passions while balancing work, family, and maybe a little play. Overall, I do recommend this place to any and everyone that would like a professional yet still slightly novice experience (for those just starting clinical work) at a reasonable price. The products are top of the line and the students are very knowledgeable about their specified trade. I am a licensed esthetician who wanted to work in laser, so I attended the Elaine Sterling Aesthetic Medical Laser training program to become certified.The class was off-site at a dermatology clinic in Stockbridge, GA. The clinic's office remained open for business while a group of five of us were there to learn laser. Not all patients were there for laser skin treatments, though. Many were Juviderm or R...estilin appointments, and licensed Estheticians are prohibited by law from performing injections. The way I factored it, there were five of us students, each paying $2,500 for the week long "class", so between Elaine Sterling and the dermatology doctor allowing us to observe, they were able to split $10,000 for essentially doing nothing. I was told by the rep with the Elaine Sterling Institute that all of her graduates receive priority employment consideration when clients contact her seeking laser-certified estheticians, but I never once was contacted for any employment opportunities. I followed up with my interest by routinely contacting the institute and by attending an institute open house to speak with Elaine Sterling, but she brushed me aside. I base my judgements best I can based on the totality of my observations and experiences, and all I can sum up from this is that she is a rude, haute, South African snob misleading others into paying thousands for possibilities that lead to nowhere.
