On 01 July 2017, while in Alabama, I decided to have nails, previously done by Perry, Georgia's Modern Nails, removed. For some odd reason, my finger was tingled. Not unbearable just rare. My nails are being removed, when on my right hand's middle finger, Jack, Alabama nail tech discovers a disgusting, deeply, discolored area on my nail. As he continued to pull away the solar powder, the spot seemed to become larger and larger. (See attached pictures) Completely embarrassed but also scared, because in 19 years, this has never happened. 19 WHOLE YEARS! I question Jack, about what happened or may have happened. Seemingly on my past appointments to Perry, Georgia's Modern Nails (located at 1365 Sam Nunn Blvd #A, Perry, Georgia 31069), my nails were filled in incorrectly. This allowed water to get in between the "fill in" and my actual nail, and though, they were filled in just days before, the severity of the bubbles underneath the solar powder coupled with water acted as an incubator for the fungus. Obviously upset because it didn't seem to be a fault of my own, I decide to calm down and call Modern Nails of Perry, Georgia on the following day. This is to allow myself to calm down and act rationally, after all, I was still thinking I had contracted gangrene. I call and leave several messages in the next 3 days, finally, I speak with Jason, a manager. I explain the situation and Jason replies, "Well what do you want me to do about it?" I specifically tell Jason that I would like to have my money refunded to me because this isn't something that I caused and because I had to pay to have it treated. Jason agrees to refund me for the services. I explain that I am out of town and will not be able to come in until Thursday, 06 July 2017. Moving to Thursday, I walk into the shop after 5p.m., in a whisper, I ask if he is the manager and tell him that my name is Breanna. (Remaining as quiet as possible as I'm still embarrassed about the rather nasty fungus and my finger is still discolored.) Jason looks over the pictures of my finger, my actual finger, questions me about my nail tech, verifies that Nancy of Modern Nails did my nails, and then ask for a receipt, I provide Jason with my bank statement, which details the date, price, and Modern Nails, Perry, Georgia. Upon authenticating, Jason has me to explain why my services were $38, in a very rude way. I explain that I was charged $20 for a fill-in (solar powder) and $15 for gel polish, this is pretty standard, however, I am unsure of where the additional $3 came from. (On second thought--maybe, it was my tip to Nancy, the nail tech.) Jason tells me, "You have to be crazy if you think that I'm going to give you $38 back. I don't just throw money out. You got a fungus, well, that's your fault." I attempt to interrupt, absolutely floored, as he has begun to raise his voice, "Excuse me?" Jason replies, "If you had a fungus then you should've came back to this shop to have it fixed here. I could've showed you where you probably broke the nail and water got in. That's your fault and it's something you could have let me fixed. I'll give you $25!" I am unsure if Jason was having a bad day or if he's simply rude, as some Google reviewers have complained about the blatant disrespect. My finger was swollen, however, it has been treated and I am told that at this point, you simply wait but it should heal, very soon. The issue here is the way that Jason, who turns out to be the owner, handled a situation where his shop was at fault. My nails are always very well kept and often times, they are filled in before the 2-week mark. My career isn't one that involves me dealing with water, obviously, I use water and my hands get wet. Yet, this would make more sense if I were constantly in water. The fungus coupled with Jason's attitude are the core reasons as to why I felt this situation must be made public, even in my embarrassment. There is no account for who has obtained a fungus after paying full price for half-done services at Modern Nails of Perry, Georgia, because there is a gigantic possibility that they were bullied and reprimanded into keeping quiet. For the sake of being in compliance, nail health, and being a responsible adult, I am making this post public, along with pictures of my disgusting GREEN nail, receipts, and a newly 2-week post picture. If you are having nail services performed at Modern Nails of Perry, Georgia, it is absolutely imperative that you make an informed decision. Additionally, when I went in there was an elderly lady complaining that they completely removed her eyebrows. The tech admitted it was a mistake, however, the woman was NOT told at the commencement of her services, she found out the next morning. They offered her a free eyebrow waxing, when and if her eyebrows grow back. Make an informed decision, ladies and gentlemen. **Update** Unlicensed. Read Less
