I had been happily going to this salon for 2 years, but yesterday I was treated like they didn't want me there. Everyone was busy when I went in, so I agreed to wait. After about 15 minutes, one of the techs finished her customer, but failed to start working on me. When I asked, she finally told me that I had to wait another 20 min because she had an appointment coming in. However, her appt had not even showed up. I was furious that they weren't honest with me from the start and I felt like they didn't want my business. So, I went elsewhere and will NEVER GO BACK. Read Less

So l went here for the first time. One rule l broke is that, YOU DO NOT CHEAT ON YOUR NAIL TECH. l went to this salon since lt was close to my job and convenient. For one they are very overpriced for just a mediocre job. When I came in no one wanted to service me however the owner did greet me and asked me what I wanted. I wanted a pedicure and acrylic set. When I was brought to the pedicure bowl they began proceed to work on my nails and toes. I will admit I like the teamwork they did but I didn’t like how rough the man was with my nails and l l also didn’t like how they did the pedicure procedure. My go to salon (shout out to the nail trap on Wesley chapel) they put a liner in the bowl to prevent spreading fungi (it’s just good to add a liner for anything related to feet) . And with me being a cosmetology student l notice things like that. Another thing l didn’t like was that l was told l would have to pay extra for longer nails, $35 more which was consider their extra. At the nail trap for the same service l pay $45. Another thing l notice is that when l got there the salon was a no man land and when the Caucasian clients came in they gave them a price book, l didn’t receive a price book instead l was told upfront and was ignore when l asked what were the prices for the services separately Read Less

I went there with my son and my uniform I had medical scrubs on I guess I looked professional enough to be served as a black woman she appeared to be nice and said that I had a good child I guess because he sat quietly on his tablet. I receive great service a manicure and pedicure that day so I came back again one month later with the same child except for I had jeans and a hat on she was very rude to me the one who was nice the first time the owner she said that no children were allowed in the salon so I told my son to wait out front and the car I was only getting a manicure when I sit down her energy and her vibe was so rude she asked me to pay up front before she began Services she did not do that the first time so finally I said well I think I should just go elsewhere she slid my 20 bucks back and said go. I know that there is a lot going on in America with Race and everything but I come from a very diverse background and I work with all types of people in the medical field that was some of the only discrimination that I've ever experienced I will never go back there again Read Less

I must say that they did a bad job on my grandmother . And we both spent over $150 not including tip . And I was not happy with the outcome of my gel manicure. It looked very thick and crooked and they blamed it on my nail! haha after that experience I was convinced not to return. However, after 3 days one nail chipped mind you it was a gel manicure ( suppose to last 2 weeks). And figured that they would gladly repaint my nail as so many salons have done in the past but NO they said they would charge me $5 . Are you serious? after I spent over $150 with my grandmother . Do not go here. A few of us went to get mani/ pedis and it was the worst experience any of us had. They rushed through the job. They didnt do top coat on one of our nails and when  asked for it they insisted it was on. They finally begrudgingly put it on. They used thick, old nail polish on my nails that was uneven and looked terrible. All of us had nail polish surrounding our cuticles afterward. The place itself is grimy. I will NEVER go back! On Saturday I spent $40 at Miss Nails in Decatur (where I've been going to for several years) for Tina to put some tips on my nails; I was going to paint my nails at home but Tina insisted that she would fill in my nails with the SNS system. I agreed and when I left, they looked lovely. This morning (on Tuesday) less than 72 hours later, I went back to Tina at Miss Nails because the the fill-in polish that she had used it was lifting and separating noticeably around the edges of my nails and my cuticles. Tina looked at my nails and she said that my nails have just grown out and that's why there was the separation. I explained to her it had been less than 3 days and all I wanted her to do was to take off the filling and the tips and put a set of tips on as I had originally asked (there was no way the manicure was going to last 2 weeks). She said she'd be glad to do that - FOR $20! I disagreed with her because it had been less than 3 days since she had done this manicure and I felt it her responsibility as the store manager to correct the problem and provide me with the service I originally asked and not charge me any more money. Additionally, Tina told me she only charged me $35 - but I have the receipt showing that she charged me $40. I can only assume that they believe that overcharging their customers is also ok - NOT! Tina refused to fix my nails, would not give me a refund, and wanted to charge me more money to correct the problem. I CANNOT RECOMMEND anyone to use Miss Nails in Decatur and I won't ever be going back! Read Less

If you are African American do not waste your money on poor service and discrimination at this nail salon. I have been frequenting this nail salon for 2 years now. Until today, when I got asked to pay more for a repair of a manicure with Gel that lasted only three days before PEELING off. I was told it would last 2-3 weeks. When I originally went with my husband, who has locked hair, he was told to leave the salon while waiting on me to finish, because "it doesn't look right" with him sitting in the salon. Three days later, I wished we had not just brushed the comment off as nail salon protocol or gotten my nails done there in the first place, because I received no solution for my manicure looking weeks old. Before this recent incident, I had not visited in a year because I was refused specific a pedicure service they offer with warm wax, claiming they did not offer it anymore. They then proceeded to give the exact service I had just requested to two Caucasian women sitting in the seats next to me. The woman doing my pedicure noticed me looking at the other women, and felt so bad about her lie that she gave me a minor discount. I would have never went back, but I wanted to treat myself with something I don't do often for my birthday. I tip well, I pay full price without seeking discounts, and i am a soft spoken woman. I made a yelp just to express how patient I have been with this nail salon, and yet they still treat me and my husband like a stereotype :-/ Read Less

We had appts and had to wait a long time. The job itself was so bad. I took my polish off when I got home. One person was working on 2 people at the same time and she forgot what she was doing to each. One person's filing job was terrible and the others didn't have their cuticles cut nor did anyone ask them what shape they wanted. And their system for choosing a color was ridiculous. I got yelled at for going up to pick a color. I know we should have just left but we really wanted our nails done and kept hoping it would get better. But it didn't. Read Less

I rarely get a manicure since I like my nails natural, but I thought I'd pamper myself before the holidays and get one. I asked for a manicure at Miss Nails, and was expecting to get a regular, $15 manicure with clear polish. When going over colors with the attendant, I told her, clear and shiny, like yours. She then went through a process I'd never experienced--powder, ultraviolet light, etc. instead of soaking, cuticle trim, etc.  I wondered what she was doing, and kept asking, telling her I wasn't familiar with this type of manicure, and she never told me I was getting gel. When the process was done, I got a bill for $50 instead of $15. She told me it would last at least two weeks, so I figured if the clear lasted longer I'd just pay and tip and not complain. After about a week, the clear started to chip off, and I told my friend about the manicure and she said I must have gotten gel, and that her nails got ruined by gel. I looked online for how to remove gel polish, and it looked complicated, with acetone, cotton, foil and filing, so I went to another nail spa to get the gel removed. The technician asked me if powder was used and when I said yes, she shook her head and said she wasn't sure she could get it off and that I might be better off letting it grow off. But the chipping was pretty bad so I asked her to try. After soaking my nails in acetone, wrapped in cotton and foil, she could only peel off the top layer. She buffed and buffed but the bottom layer wouldn't come off. She told me filing might injure my nails because she wasn't sure where my nail started under the gel coating, but I asked her to try. She was very careful, and stopped, saying she couldn't get off any more without damaging my nails. She put a coat of nourishing clear on my nails and said for me to take it off in a few days, then come back and she'll try again. I took off the clear with regular polish and my nails are rough, spotted white, and look ruined. I'll go back to the legitimate nail salon for another treatment, but my nails are sore from all the stuff done to them. The technician at Miss Nails ruined my nails with gel that I didn't know about and didn't ask for. I guess it was a slow day and she was trying to make more money. Also, if you get gel, you have to keep going back and getting them fixed, which guarantees them a regular customer. I feel taken advantage of by the technician at Miss Nails and I will never go back, and I will warn all my Decatur friends about it--not being informed about the cost or what she was doing to my nails, and having my nails ruined in the process. I wish I could give zero stars. I have nothing positive to say about this place. I got a pedicure and gel manicure. The paint on the pedicure was bubbly. The gel manicure was all over my cuticles, looked like a child had done them, and peeled off my nails after two days. When I called, the owner told me she'd fix it. When I got there, she told me I caused this with my job (I mainly type at my job and have never had held last less than 2 weeks) and that I would have to pay full price to have them fixed. I wish I could give it more stars. After my third visit, I've decided I won't be back. This nail salon is not particularly nice and they rarely have enough employees to handle the number of clients coming through the door. This means a very long wait if you don't make an appointment. They do a decent job on my nails, though certain employees do a much better job with the pedicure scrub and massage. My goals whenever I go get my nails done are to a) get a great mani or pedi and b) leave feeling pampered. I wouldn't go here if that's what you're looking for. I went with a friend to catch up and get a mani pedi. The boss, the one who sits on the couch in between managing the register and messing with her employees' tech set ups, told us we couldn't sit together in the pedicure chairs because my friend wasn't getting a pedicure but I was. I've seen them do manicures while people get their pedicures done. There was no one else at this place, by the way. We pushed back, and the boss lady said my friend could sit there but she'd have to pay pedicure price for her manicure. SO logical. I said screw it, i'm not getting a pedicure if it means I have to sit across the room from my friend and not have the catch up time/hangout I was hoping for. So instead of being reasonable, the boss lady lost out on an entire service. The lady who did my manicure was thorough, but she cut away live cuticle and one of my fingers started bleeding. The gel service there isn't that great either. The lights are cheapo so it takes FOREVER (like one nail painted and then under the light kind of cheapo). It's cheap which is its only redeeming quality. But I'll pay the extra $5-10 bucks to get the same service elsewhere. Read Less

I've gotten my nails done twice there, the third time was my last. The owner of this salon is extremely rude. The first time I got my nails done I just received a fill in with gel and gel polish and a pedicure. I was charged $60. Only the next day to have one of my nails chipped from doing no more than picking up a towel. I went back to the salon 2 days later bc I couldn't go back faster. I came into the salon and tried to explain that it was bc of the faulty fill in that my nail broke, of course she ignored me. After they fixed my nail she then told me that it was $7 to fix ONE nail! I told my boyfriend that I would never go there again until one unfaithful day it was the only option to re polish my nails. I walked into the packed salon, I only wanted her to remove the regular nail polish I had on and re polish with gel polish, she tried to charge me $25 for that! If you go to her website you will see that it the same price as a full set of acrylic nails, so she is telling me that polishing my nails is worth the same labor and time as I full set? Miss Nails salon was a disappointment!  This salon lacks quality and professionalism of  services.   The gel nail manicure I received started peeling after 4 days, which typically should last up to two weeks.  Also, they charge extra for glitter gel polish, which didn't make sense because it's not a specialty polish or design that requires an up charge.   I'm going to assume the up charge is because they do not have the volume for gel services (due to lack of skill) which is why prices are higher than similar nail salons in the area.   I frequented many salons and have experienced better  quality gel manicure services that last for two weeks or if the nail polish peels the salon would repair.  But not this one. The manager was not accommodating or pleasant,  but very rude.  I would not recommend this nail salon for services. Read Less

Pedicure was decent. Wish I would have gotten some more pumice scrubbing on the ole heels, but she gave up. Her arms must have gotten tired -- I don't know. Waxing: I will not come back for a waxing. I think only one person waxes (the owner?) and she's extremely heavy-handed and not thorough. When I got home, I saw lots of places that she missed.  The waxing was waxing. But when she patted the wax off, she forcefully pressed so hard it hurt. She also made me lay on a flat table while 8 months pregnant. I guess she didn't know better. Horrid experience. Also she quoted me a price for waxing, and then raised it immediately, I guess realizing she didn't charge me enough. What the?! No bueno. Think I'm gonna just not. Read Less

This was my first time to Miss Nails and my last.  I purchased a pedicure and manicure.  When it started all was well, the massage was nice, and the technicians very thoughtfully handed me several magazines to read.  The problem was the quality of the paint job.  I can only say that it must be a combination of old paint and skill.  It was horrible.  I certainly have done much better jobs on my own nails.  At home the next day the manicure and pedicure started to look even worse so I decided to call and ask if they could possibly repaint.  The owner (I assume) said that she would look at it and "if it was their fault they would redo - if not I would have to pay".  Admittedly her sharp response was off putting but I decided to return anyway to give them a chance to make it right.  When she looked at my nails (which others even agreed where poorly done) she said my nails were "perfect to them".  She said the most she would do is to put another top coat on.  She also said that it looked the way it looked because of the color (I had orange polish on my toes and pink on my nails).  It was not the colors, it was old polish and poor polishing.  Take it from the other reviewers, it indeed looks like a child painted my nails.  Worst experience and certainly not worth $30.  This polish is coming off as soon as I get home.  Save your money and the headache and go somewhere else. Miss Nails is literally the only place I will go for my waxing. Tina is the most thorough waxer I have ever had and I'm not just talking for the price range. My daughter and I have been going to Miss Nails since it open in Decatur. We love Tina and all the girls in the shop. We try to go often as a mother/daughter outing, as she is now married and comes from the west side of Atlanta to see Tina.  We really love all the new colors of lacquer polish the salon is offering. The color stays easily for two weeks and does not damage the nail. I would really recommend getting this polish. While it may be a bit more expensive, the results are fantastic! Read Less

I had been a customer of Miss Nails for almost 5 years.  Not a large fan of manicures, I opted for regular pedicures and toe nail polish changes.  The techs that were on staff during my initial visits were pleasant and talented.  Based on my prior experiences over a period of 4 years, I decided to try a manicure. In July 2012, I opted for a French gel manicure.  The owner informed me that there were two types that cost two different amounts, but that they were essentially the same.  I chose the less expensive option and was very, very pleased.  The manicure lasted for about 3.5 weeks and my underlying nail remained strong.  I continued to get this particular service for 4 months.  Although the manicure was nice, I was wary of the pricing practices. I always had to remind the owner that I wanted the less expensive option.  Since the price for this service isn't posted, I would have to call before going in to get a price quote in order to avoid a repeat of an instance in September during which I was charged a much higher price than I had been charged previously.I have stopped going to this nail salon for three reasons.  First, the price for the service is not posted, which can lead to unnecessary misunderstandings.  Second, an appointment is not really an "appointment," it's more like a "squeeze you in."  I like for my nail treatments to be mini luxuries.  I don't want to be moved from one chair to another in an effort to accommodate the owner's incessant overbooking practices.  Third, and most important, my last gel nails manicure completely ruined my nails.  I have had long, healthy nails my entire adult life.  During my last trip in late November, the tech filed my nails down so low that they are still thin and breaking off 2 months later.  That manicure was messy and didn't last very long.  I am now receiving nail treatments at another salon in Decatur and will NEVER return to Miss Nails.**Response to owner/manager's response (4/18/2013): Perhaps there were misunderstandings, because for me asking, "Do you have availability for a french manicure this evening" is starkly different from, "I'm on my way, can you squeeze me in," which I never did or requested.  However, I recognize that there may be a language barrier there.  No matter, I'm very happy with my new salon and wish everyone at Miss Nails the very best. I went to this salon one Saturday and had a mani/pedi combo. The pedicure was good, the manicure not so good. The white he used for my French was very thin, and the lines were crooked making my nails look crooked. The worst part is the very next day the white polish was peeling off my finger nails! The paint barely lasted 1 day. I went back to the salon and asked to have my nails repainted with a different polish and they refused. I was basically told that if I wanted the paint to stay on my nails then I should have got acrylics I cant expect the paint to stay for more than one day on my natural nail. I was really disappointed with my manicure, honestly I think my niece could have done a better job.I am assuming Miss Nails (the owner) did my manicure, but between answering the phone, checking the appointment book and the reconfiguring of every ones service price, I am surprise I'm not still sitting in the chair waiting for her to finish my nails.I enjoyed the service overall (very friendly staff), My pedicure looks amazing! I was scheduled to meet some people for brunch and had some time to fill, so I decided to look for a place to get a pedicure. Miss Nails was on my way to the restaurant, and happened to be open earlier than many other nail salons. I was greeted cordially and invited to choose a color and a pedicure chair. The salon is smaller than many others I've been to, but it is nicely decorated with lovely colors. The music was relaxing and just loud enough. As my feet soaked in the warm water, the pedicurist brought a stack of magazines for me to look at. She was gentle but thorough in taking care of my feet, and I liked that she just let me relax with my eyes closed and didn't try to talk to me or upsell me. The lotion that they use smells very minty and fresh, and has a bit of a cooling effect. After she was done massaging my legs and feet (which felt fabulous), she carefully painted my toenails, then led me to a seat under the dryer. Another thing that I liked was that they set timers for their customers so that they know when it is safe to go. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience, and I will go back.

Sometimes the OPI colors do not match what I know they should look like from previous experiences- and many of the polish jars look quite old and beat up. What's going on there? Not sure. Read Less

I have been going to Miss Nails for manicures and pedicures for approximately  ten years and have always enjoyed friendly and professional service.  A complete array of services is available; prices are reasonable and are clearly posted.  The shop is very clean.  I have always been treated very courteously and have always observed the same courtesies being shown to others.  I am especially pleased with the gel manicures and pedicures which last a very long time.  The foot and leg massages are relaxing.  The location in downtown Decatur is very convenient, and professionals who work in Decatur offices  and at  DeKalb General are often there when I go.  Because I don't always plan far enough ahead to make an appointment, I try not to come on the busiest days or at the busiest times.  Nevertheless, even without an appointment, I have always received excellent service and have never felt rushed.  For me, going to Miss Nails is a real treat! Read Less

Not impressed. Didn't even get my nails done here. I am looking for a place closer to work, so this was my first stop. The lady who greeted me didn't seem all that interested in my patronage. I waited patiently for my turn, while watching her rudely corral other patrons to their spaces. She wasn't friendly at all. Once it was my turn, I discovered they didn't have the product I wanted (solar nail, colored powders) and she was ever too excited for me to leave and go elsewhere.

I was so insulted, I literally turned around and walked right out. Read Less

Needless to say I will never go back to this place... Read Less

Read Less
