LADIES!! SAVE. YOUR.MONEY. When you leave Allure Nails, you might feel like 100 bucks, but rest assured, you will end up spending just that or more, not only to cover your nails, but to pay for the overhead costs, the water bill, electricity and anything else that they can tack on. While in town for the holiday, I decided to get my nails done, and during the service I asked the nail technician to cut the overhanging cuticles that she created while drilling. The nerve of her to say, "It will be $5 extra." Seriously?! And since when has that become the norm?
But that doesn't scratch the service. I quickly learned on my first visit that these "business savvy" people are wickedly clever in taking your money. The infamous gel nail is their money maker, among the other up-selling menu items that make you feel that more is better. In truth, it isn't. At check out I was expecting a bill no more than $55-$60 for a gel nail and a regular pedicure; after all, that's the price I've always paid at other nail salons. Low and behold, I got hoodwinked out of $90 which did not include the nail technician's tip. Again, clever folks who greet you with a smile and say, "Get gel nail, it will last longer, " but be advised (and many will agree) the gel manicure and regular French manicure last about the same.
My best advice is do not patronize this business. But if you absolutely have nowhere else to go, #1, keep the service simple and go for the lower priced items. The results will still be the same--disastrous. #2. Do not be persuaded at any time during your visit to do more than what you've asked (i.e., if you asked for a regular french manicure, avoid the up-sell on gel nails). #3 and MOST IMPORTANT, ask for the cost of each service before "take-off" because their price boards are misleading. When they quote you on the price, I would repeat it back to them if necessary. Something like, "Okay. You quoted me $___, and that's what I expect to pay." Do this and hopefully you won't become the 842nd victim of Allure Nails like I was. :-) Read Less
