I visited this salon because of a Groupon. Unfortunately, my Groupon was not properly honored because the owner (Swan) did not understand the rules of Groupon. I tried to explain it to her, but she didn't believe me. I was required to pay the difference between the price of the service and the Groupon face value. I found the owner to be lacking in the friendly, customer service department. It is one thing that the owner and I did not agree about how the Groupon could be used, because I could have been wrong. But there's a way that one can be friendly and understanding, while saying no at the same time. I didn't receive the friendly and understanding part. However, I did phone Groupon afterwards and they confirmed that the owner was incorrect and Groupon refunded my money. Groupon said they will notify the owner to tell her the rules. I love Groupon! But I digress... On to the service...I went in for a man-pedi. I live a few miles away from the spa, but had never been to that area of College Park. It is lovely! I didn't have time the day I went to the spa, but I will be going back to that part of Main Street soon to explore all of the other little stores that are there. I digress again...I walked in to the spa and was greeted by the receptionist who asked me to sign in. The owner was there doing a manicure, but she did not greet me. No one told me where to sit while waiting for my nail tech, but after standing around for a minute, I finally figured it out. The salon is small, but cozy - maybe three or four manicure stations and about the same number of pedicure stations. It's a little rustic, but with feminine girly-girl touches at the same time. Ranita was the specialist that attended to me; she has a very warm personality and I enjoyed her. We first started with the pedicure. I appreciated that the services were done separately because at other spas, they do the manicure and pedicure at the same time and, to me, it is not relaxing having two people work on you, tugging in different directions, asking you to put this foot there, move that hand here, etc. However, I was disappointed that the Swan spa doesn't have massage chairs while you're getting your manicure like at other places. The pedicure seating is instead a hard, long, bench type thing, but with pretty pillows so you can at least sit against the back comfortably. I enjoyed the pedicure. Ranita did a great job and gave helpful suggestions on how to care for my feet. The manicure was average. The price of the mani-pedi is higher than at other salons. However, I normally still would have made a future appointment with Ranita. But because of the combination of the unfriendliness of the owner, the lack of massage chairs AND the higher price -- I probably won't return. Read Less
