Ok. I've been going to Karma off and on for, I guess, 6 years or more now? I initially had a color job done by the owner and I was less than satisfied, but Kerri Anne cut my hair and was an amazing hair stylist. I later took my very finicky son to her, and after years of being dissatisfied with almost every stylist he tried, he then refused to go to any one else. I personally moved on to a highly recommended local stylist for any colorings and most cuts, but still Keri Anne was always equally a favorite choice for cuts too. My main issue with Karma was initially the less than stellar color job and their prices. While I have no problem paying for a good colorist or stylist, Karma is ultimately no better than other somewhat high end salons, yet they tend to cost exponentially more than a lot of them due to their a la carte pricing system (That means you get upcharged for most every additional step in the process rather than just making sure your hair looks great). Ultimately, I feel Karma has shady pricing practices. I've been to both neighborhood salons as well as far more upscale salons than Karma and most all strive to give you the best final outcome possible while being completely up front about the pricing, but Karma will tell you how much a color will cost and then during the process, especially towards the end, blame the color or condition on the fact that you need to add 2 or 3 more steps/products with a substantial price hike for each...I mean, who doesn't include toner in the coloring process? This is simply not good business practice in my opinion. So, considering that I was not satisfied with the condition of my hair after having it colored, in spite of paying extra, I still chose to used Kerri Anne as my backup for the occasional cut and religiously for all my son's cuts...it wasn't her fault after all. Recently, when we stopped in to see about a cut for my son, we found that Kerri Anne was sadly no longer working at Karma and when we enquired as to where she had gone, they refused to give us any information. As, someone who knows and understand this industry, I find that very offensive. There's more than enough business to go around and being petty (and greedy), rather than having the goodwill and confidence to allow customers to make the decision as to whether they want to try a new stylist or stay with one they've been happy with, is simply not the kind of business I want to support. I would have continued to patronize the salon on occasion, just as I had for years now, had they simply shown themselves to be more professional. They have not only lost both mine and my son's business, but they've lost an excellent word of mouth recommendation. Read Less
