Sarah was absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable. Gave me really good tips on how to do my hair. Had a great experience overall. The staff was very friendly. Only con is the price. $50 + tip is a little steep for a mens haircut but it is a top notch salon so I understand. I come here for shellack pedicures and they have done a good job every time. They take their time with the message and it is pretty good quality. I recommend getting an appointment but they can usually get you in same day. My favorite part is how they don’t rush your appointment and take the time to do it right. Read Less

I had the absolute best hair cut/color experience with Sarah - she was so interested in helping me find the best color to suit my not-so-clear vision and really communicated so well. Very unhappy with the nail job they did. I went in and asked for acrylic with gel nail polish with a coffin shape. First when filing my nails he made a deep cut into my cuticle and blamed it on being a new file. He attempted to glue my cut but the seal kept breaking and continued to bleed. Then I had asked him to file the nails down because they were really thick and uneven to where one side of the nail would be thicker than the other but he said no because of the shape they ...couldn't be thinned out (mind you they were pretty darn thick). Regardless of shape, no nail should be uneven. When asked again to fix it since it was more noticeable with the nail polish, he refused (I also posted a picture to show what I'm talking about). He did not take the time to make sure the fake nail was the right size so how I have nails that are smaller than my actual nail. They give great service, are always on time and the people who work there are so friendly.  They have a beautiful spa area upstairs and provide many services.  Their massage therapist is wonderful and appreciates how much her clients value their time.  I didn't wait at all. I just left the salon and after 4 hours in the chair and $250 later, my hair I came in to have lightened is now darker than when I came in, highlights poorly placed, and I have huge gaps and chunks where there should be layers. Why not one star? Because the place is clean. I'll give them that. I'm a model who just lost a job, because I trusted this place. No one can't fix what just happened (it's a little hard to put back the hair she hacked off). After running my card for nearly $250 all anyone could say was, sorry. Come back. Well try again. I get my hair done by Brittany and I LOVE her! She always does a great job and the company is even better. Everyone is so nice and the salon is so pretty. They're always very nice but the woman who works there always seems to be rushing through and my nails are always a little off because of it. I went in on Friday and the nails on my right hand are great but on my left, they're thicker and uneven. She forgot to do the final file on my left thumb nail and even though I mentioned it, she still didn't do it. They seem to be focused more on volume than quality. Stephanie was great. I had a hair cut and keratin conditioning treatment and my hair feels and looks fab! You have to tell them that you are not going to buy the product that they used to your hair or you will end up paying $100 more. Classy, comfortable, clean salon. After reading some of the other reviews, I feel compelled to share my experiences at DJ's as I was shocked at some of the negative comments. I've been a happy client there for almost 9 years.  Since I have all over color and my hair grows quickly, I visit the salon every 4-5 weeks for root touch ups and a cut.  I started with DJ at first and was very happy with him, but booked with Sarah one time when DJ was on vacation and have stayed with her since.  I have also had facials and skin treatments with Vicky, nails services, and a massage in the spa. The atmosphere is sophisticated and they have a coffee/water bar with drinks and snacks for clients.  This is a fantastic group of professionals - highly trained, eager to please, warm and friendly. I go back month after month because I know my hair will be done correctly and I will look great when I leave there, plus I really like the ladies who work on my hair and skin :-) .  I have spent many years at other salons where I had to go straight home and restyle my hair because I didn't like the way it looked when I left there.  At DJ's, I am confident to have my hair done in the morning (when it is quiet and not rushed) and know it will look good for the rest of my day.  I usually spend about 45 minutes at the shampoo bowl due to my color and other treatments.  Sometimes I just lie there and relax, sometimes I read a book, a few times I have to admit i dozed off! Never have I felt that they were rushing me along. I really LOOK FORWARD to my appointments each month as they are a "me treat" and a good time to relax and be pampered. I'm from Houston, have lived in San Diego and Dallas, as well as Europe, and have had many salon experiences over the years. I think DJs compares extremely favorably to other high quality salons in major cities and would recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality salon experience. Read Less

Want to be held up with a brush and a blow dryer?  If so, or if you have more money than you know what to do with, definitely go here. DJ's business model is evidently to get as much of your money as he can, adding products you don't want, then telling you what the cost is (close to $200 for a color and cut in one case) when you're at the register, the stuff is in your hair and people are listening. I mean, what can you do except pay the price? On top of this, they offer to sell you all the products they used on you at a special 10% discount --- a great deal --- NOT!Granted, DJ & Company will try to fix bad jobs (like when the stylist clearly used the wrong color product even though she'd been TOLD beforehand that it was wrong), but he still runs an assembly line operation. You might have 6 different people involved in your appointment --- and that's just for a color and cut!  Not going back and wouldn't recommend anyone else to go, either, unless, as I said before, you have more money than you know what to do with. I've used the folks at DJ & Co off and on for years. I'm no longer local so I don't get to use them regularly like I used to do. The staff has always been fantastic and the environment of the salon and spa is definitely that of a class-act. Are they busy? Yes!!! Plan on being there a while...But with that I know they are good. Just like a restaurant with an empty dining room, I'm wary of a salon with empty seats. So I plan ahead - bring something to read or work on - or just use the time to "chill out". I can always count on my hair being great when they're done. The extra training they go to around the country and the trainers they have brought in shows in the work they do and the way they run their business. Kudos to DJ & Co for their long-term success!!! OK- So I am new to the area and REAAALLLLLY trying to find a salon to call my own. Not many true reviews of salons here because- I am assuming- everybody knows everybody and doesn't want to hurt their feelings maybe? So I chose this salon because I have read many great reviews...they got a lot of awards...blah, blah, blah.So let me first comment on the salon itself: Very clean, very busy, lots of nice touches like a snack bar. The first thing I noticed was that the stylists weren't "dressed to impress"... Meaning: They were wearing Spa scrubs and sneakers and they all had gel mats to stand on. (Being in the service industry for many years- I appreciate the fact that DJ takes care of his stylists). They have a full spa upstairs so I understand the scrubs-but maybe it's just me- I want my stylist to LOOK and BE FABULOUS! I should want to BE her, right? It was kind of medicinal and odd. The second thing I noticed is that I didn't see any stylists with really "cool/fantastic" hair. I mean- that is the NUMBER ONE aspect I want in a stylist. They are a walking billboard for their trade and I get a little leery when the person working on my hair has a SHITASTIC color/cut combo as my stylist had. (DJ does have fabulous hair, though).When I called to book my appointment- i SPECIFICALLY asked for a senior stylist. Per their website, I recognized my stylist was not. I still want to give her the benefit of the doubt as I HAVE been wrong in the past. Maybe it's the whole "Cobbler's children have no shoes" situation going on here. She came to consult with me and she started chopping away and I was kind of relieved that it was looking great! I was happy! But then I realized that she did not part my hair FAR ENOUGH over and my stomach sank. Then she applied this product and styled my hair to look like Kate Gosselin's reversible mullet. It just went downhill fast. Then it was over so quickly and the next thing I know the receptionist has given me a basket of ALLLLLLL the product she wants me to buy to reproduce the aforementioned reversible mullet. I told her I was good and didn't need any (which- I DO support buying product as it makes a huge difference in your style), and she gave me this look of utter disbelief. She was really pushing for another appointment, but I declined. So I spent all evening pouting and redoing my hair. Should I have gone back and had them fix it? To the Average Joe: YES. I am 100% confident that they want me to be happy. I was just worried that they would have to take off more hair to fix it and I didn't want to take that risk- much less have the SAME stylist do it. I don't have  a huge problem with them going too short.. as long as the cut itself is good and clean. It was not.All in all: I personally don't think I would return. I could have had a different experience with another stylist, yes...but the overall feeling of the salon just didn't jive with me. (Do you REALLY need to call me at 8 am to confirm my appointment ? Can you wait to a more respectable hour?) I'm sure that if you are on the fence about going- you should probably go. They have been in business for 20 years and you don't get a huge client base by sucking. I can only write about MY experience. Just go with your gut. This is the best salon and spa that I've ever been to! The staff is friendly and professional, whether it's the receptionists to the assistants and spa staff. They are on the pricey side however YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! I would much rather spend $20 more and love my hair than to get mediocre services at a cheaper price. This salon is amazing.  The decor is soothing and relaxing.  DJ and his staff are professional and can really work magic.  I have very curly hair and have always had a hard time finding someone who knew how to handle curly, unruly hair.  DJ listens to your needs, listens to what you want and then he tells you what he can do to help your hair fit into your lifestyle and achieve the look you want.  I am ALWAYS able to get an appointment with in a few days, no waiting a month for a cut.  Once I got a cut that ended up looking off when I did my hair myself... I went back a few days later, and DJ got me into a chair and said he saw what I was talking about and made a few snips and fixed it, no problems at all. I Always leave the salon loving my hair.... not hating it like I have when others have cut it. When I moved out of town, I drove an hour + to get my hair done by DJ.I recommend DJ to everyone!
