I had the most disappointing and strange experience with this business. I read the reviews for Covered Nail Bar which had a 5 star rating. I went online and scheduled an appointment for Thursday, August 24, 2017 @ 10:00 a.m. I called Sonia the night before to ask questions regarding pricing, etc. and to introduce myself and express my excitement to meet her on Thursday. I googled directions via Map Quest which were totally off and I got turned around. I called my brother who called Sonia and she directed me to the shop. I was right there and I arrived right at
10:03 a.m. I knocked on the door of the shop and stood outside the business and no one came to the door. It was extremely hot so I entered into the other door and came to her door inside the building and knocked again. I just talked with Sonia, so, this was very perplexing to me. I noticed cards in a basket on the wall outside the shop. I called Sonia again and again with no answer. I finally grew tired of this and went back outside and called my brother again to call her and still no answer. My brother said he continued to call her still no answer. I left 2 messages for her letting her know this was not a good experience for me.
I left the shop and got lost again trying to get home. Let me state, it is not her fault I got lost, but the fact, she was not there for my appointment and not answering the calls was. I finally got home and had a message from Sonia and I returned her call. She apologized emphatically and scheduled me another appointment for Saturday, August 26, 2017 @ 10:00 a.m. I told her I'd give this another chance and she stated she'd take care of me.
On my way to the shop today, August 26, 2017, she calls me at 9:53 a.m. and states she's going to grab her some food and it won't be longer than 10 minutes. I'm at the shop now and waiting for her. Based on our conversation she should arrive at 10:05 a.m. I called her about
10:10 a.m. to let her know I am parked right in front of her door and she states she's on the way. She called me and tells me that someone from inside is coming to let me in the shop and she's coming. I called her back to let her know no one has let me in. She's on Cherokee in front of the zoo waiting for another person to come and get her table because they are at the festival there. She said she'd contact the person again who's to let me in and I told her no I'll continue to wait in my car. Time continued to pass and no Sonia. I called her again and she states she is still waiting for this person to get the table because she's trying to help her out. I expressed my concern about this situation and she states she's coming on Atlanta Avenue. It is now 10:27 a.m. and I called her and stated I'm leaving and she stated she understands and values my time, etc. and that is why she kept calling me to let me know what's happening. I waited another 2 minutes and I left.
I try to support black owned businesses, if I can. I will not support this type of behavior from any business. The price quoted to me and the 5 star reviews I read, I expected so much better. This was twice I experienced such strange circumstances with this business. The first time the cell phone was left in the Uber and the 2nd time I will grab food and then it went to I'm helping another entrepreneur, but, what about (me) the customer. I just felt things were not on the up and up. I am a very easy going person and I try to believe and support anyone I can within reason. This was not within reason and I don't expect to hear from Sonia again, nor, will she hear from me. I've had enough. Read Less
