I had the most disappointing and strange experience with this business. I read the reviews for Covered Nail Bar which had a 5 star rating. I went online and scheduled an appointment for Thursday, August 24, 2017 @ 10:00 a.m. I called Sonia the night before to ask questions regarding pricing, etc. and to introduce myself and express my excitement to meet her on Thursday. I googled directions via Map Quest which were totally off and I got turned around. I called my brother who called Sonia and she directed me to the shop. I was right there and I arrived right at 10:03 a.m. I knocked on the door of the shop and stood outside the business and no one came to the door. It was extremely hot so I entered into the other door and came to her door inside the building and knocked again. I just talked with Sonia, so, this was very perplexing to me. I noticed cards in a basket on the wall outside the shop. I called Sonia again and again with no answer. I finally grew tired of this and went back outside and called my brother again to call her and still no answer. My brother said he continued to call her still no answer. I left 2 messages for her letting her know this was not a good experience for me. I left the shop and got lost again trying to get home. Let me state, it is not her fault I got lost, but the fact, she was not there for my appointment and not answering the calls was. I finally got home and had a message from Sonia and I returned her call. She apologized emphatically and scheduled me another appointment for Saturday, August 26, 2017 @ 10:00 a.m. I told her I'd give this another chance and she stated she'd take care of me. On my way to the shop today, August 26, 2017, she calls me at 9:53 a.m. and states she's going to grab her some food and it won't be longer than 10 minutes. I'm at the shop now and waiting for her. Based on our conversation she should arrive at 10:05 a.m. I called her about 10:10 a.m. to let her know I am parked right in front of her door and she states she's on the way. She called me and tells me that someone from inside is coming to let me in the shop and she's coming. I called her back to let her know no one has let me in. She's on Cherokee in front of the zoo waiting for another person to come and get her table because they are at the festival there. She said she'd contact the person again who's to let me in and I told her no I'll continue to wait in my car. Time continued to pass and no Sonia. I called her again and she states she is still waiting for this person to get the table because she's trying to help her out. I expressed my concern about this situation and she states she's coming on Atlanta Avenue. It is now 10:27 a.m. and I called her and stated I'm leaving and she stated she understands and values my time, etc. and that is why she kept calling me to let me know what's happening. I waited another 2 minutes and I left. I try to support black owned businesses, if I can. I will not support this type of behavior from any business. The price quoted to me and the 5 star reviews I read, I expected so much better. This was twice I experienced such strange circumstances with this business. The first time the cell phone was left in the Uber and the 2nd time I will grab food and then it went to I'm helping another entrepreneur, but, what about (me) the customer. I just felt things were not on the up and up. I am a very easy going person and I try to believe and support anyone I can within reason. This was not within reason and I don't expect to hear from Sonia again, nor, will she hear from me. I've had enough. Read Less

Great place to have a pedicure for men!! I work on my feet and was definetly in need of a pedicure!! My wife found this place and I'm so glad she did!! Was a client of this shop for approximately 8 months. Loved my manicures and pedicures, she really does excellent work. If your only goal is to have great nails this is your place. The problem with this business is lack of respect exhibited for client's time. Not once in the history of my biweekly appointments over 8 months did my appointment start on time, they were all a minimum of 30 minutes behind sometimes up to 90 minutes. You can schedule the first appointment of the day and she will just show up late, texting you that she's running "about 15 minutes behind". I hosted a Manicures and Mimosa party for my friends at the salon for my birthday and true to form she showed up late for that as well. My final straw came when she just didn't bother to open for my next appointment due to weather and half apologized for it. The apology was insincere because she definitely didn't open for an appointment a friend had scheduled with her a few weeks later. The experience isn't unique to me. I referred multiple people to the salon and most were one and done because she was late for their appointments as well. It's really unfortunate because I was a fan and one of her biggest supporters but she's her own worst enemy. Read Less

I went to Sonia purely based off of her awesome reviews so I wasn't sure what to expect. Let me just say that Sonia offers a personal one on one experience that I've never had she blows the local competition out of the water. She is professional talented and her sugar oil scrub is amazing I hope it's in stores soon so More people can benefit from it.  She definitely knows her stuff and I feel comfortable with any recommendations she makes when it comes to oils, colors, or services she is like a therapist doctor and spa all rolled into one awesome kind woman. I want to give feedback on my phone interaction as I've never received a service there. I called to see if there were any available same day appointments. When covered nail bar answered, they seemed agitated that I would even call to ask. Then, I was told to go look online. ( I had already tried and it appeared that the schedule was full, but it also let you book for the previous day so I assumed that there could be possible errors in online scheduling) I stated that the reason I'm calling is because most places want you to call to schedule on the same day as online may not reflect last minute cancellations. I was then smugly told that she was a one person shop with no receptionist. ( I've never been here before so 1- I don't know the set up and 2- I don't have a habit of memorizing every companies preferred scheduling policies) I asked if that means online is accurate and reflects any last minute cancellations ? After a sigh of clear annoyance from the lady at covered nail , she paused then looked on her schedule ( which took about 3 seconds) . She then said that she didn't have any appointments today, but she does have some tomorrow. I told her, thanks I guess I'll go online if I want to book. She basically just hung up without an appropriate statement such as "thanks" or "bye" or have a good day"... just a click. Again, this isn't very professional behavior. Honestly, she could have just looked at the beginning to tell me she was full today. If I wanted to rely on the online schedule being accurate, then I would not have called. I don't like speaking on the phone anyway. She could have saved the sassy attitude and just looked to begin with or let me know that she wasn't available to check the schedule. I would have even been ok with being redirected to the website if it had been done in a respectful manner. She lost a potential future client with the unprofessional attitude and behavior. I'm sorry that you're annoyed that people are trying to give you business. I'm usually pretty regular about getting my nails done, so I was excited about having a place in the neighborhood. Sonia & I co-hosted a "Muscles & Manicures" event for the women at my CrossFit gym and they all LOVED the experience! Sonia welcomed us into her beautiful salon with open arms, creating a fun but relaxing and comfortable environment! I have had quite the experience with nail salons here in the Atlanta area and now I know why... The nail Gods needed me to find my way to Covered Nail Bar. Sonia is a nail gangsta/ super cuticle killer thug! Ambiance: The space was small, intimate, clean and inviting. There was a small waiting area with 2 chairs, 2 pedicure thrones, and one nail table. There was a very large selection of polishes to choose from. There were nice soothing tunes playing and the place smelled amazing. Experience: I showed up to my appointment a little early and although I had not also booked a pedicure, Sonia was able to squeeze it in to her schedule even though it was getting late. She offered me wine (and it was the good stuff), she worked very efficiently, and was very sanitary. I am a licensed nail tech (although I do not practice anymore) so cleanliness is something I always pay extra attention to. When she did get up from the chair to do something, she sanitized her hands before returning to work on me which is just one example of her cleanliness. Her polish job has to be the best in the city. Hands down. No exaggeration. No sloppy paint jobs here! And once finished, she even cleaned up around the cuticle to make sure that the polish would not lift due to any debris and/or uneven polish. I don't think my cuticles have ever looked so good! Parking: She is in a building shared with other small businesses however I was able to park right out front of the door very easily. I have never been treated so rudely as I was at this business. After a fine first experience (when I tipped 20%)  I booked a second pedi. When I walked in I was completely ignored for the first few minutes while the owner continued her conversation with her current client. I thought this was rude but not terrible. I was a few min early so I was fine to just relax for a while. A few minutes after my appointment was supposed to start I was was directed to the chair and given some water to soak my feet in and wait. And wait. And wait some more. While I was waiting the current client asked that she have her nails done as well as a pedicure.  The owner resisted for a bit before coming over to me (a full 30 min after my appointment was supposed to start) and essentially telling me I could wait or I could leave. I always have an amazing service when I visit Sonia!  Her choice in products are quality.  From the pedicure soak, to the nail polish choices you are in for a treat. The best pedicure that I've ever received. Oh boy, I haven't had a pedicure in awhile, but I left Covered Nail Bar with new feet. I found this hidden gem through Instagram and I'm so glad I did. I feel like I've known the owner Sonia, forever. The ambience is amazing, very peaceful and very inviting. The jamming lemon ginger tea that Sonia offered was icing on the cake. I had an amazing experience here! I have what you could call nail OCD and I am very particular about my nails. She did an amazing job and made sure that I was happy with my nails through every step of the process.
