While I was not expecting anything remotely negative from the Spa at Foundry Park Inn, I was also not expecting to be blown away. And yet, I was! I went with two girlfriends on a girl's weekend. One friend and I both got the Herbal Tea Wrap, which consists of dry brushing, a 50-minute massage, and ends with a wrap in hot towels infused with herbal tea. The dry brushing was a new experience. I liked it and have read good things about what dry brushing does for the skin. You are actually brushed as the masseuse starts on each part of the body, rather than an all-over brushing done at once. The massage was one of - if not the best - massage of my life. The pressure was perfection and Jennine got the knots OUT of my neck and upper back, which is no small feat. I actually had full range of motion in my neck afterward (this is a rarity), and she was able to gently manipulate my spine a couple of times (i.e. pop it, which I love, though I don't think it was on purpose). I had never had a wrap before and didn't know what to expect. Basically, the masseuse wraps you in hot towels and you are essentially in a cocoon of warmth while the antioxidants soak into your skin. Ahhhh..... wish I was there now. The tea is not sticky at all, and I was surprised by that. As a matter of fact, I didn't take another shower before going out that night. The Spa at Foundry Park Inn is a hidden jewel in Athens. The next time I achieve a goal of some sort, my reward for myself out of everything that I can choose will be a day trip to Athens with a stop in at this tranquil, unpretentious Spa. It's THAT good!
