The gist:1. Short wait times2. They do pedicures and manicures at the same time (so you're in and out quicker)3. Friendly staff4. Small student discount (but it's better than nothing)Amazing. Â I was looking for a salon to visit today, so I did a quick search on Yelp and came across this one and the other L V Nails location on Alps. Â I decided to go with this one because the other one didn't have photos of their customers' nails. Â I always like to see the final product before visiting a salon, and it's even better if I can see examples of designs they've done.I was immediately greeted by a woman doing a pedicure for a customer. Â She asked what I was getting and I told her that I wanted a gel/shellac manicure. Â She told me to pick out some colors. Â They've got colors everywhere (on the wall, on a little turnabout display, etc.). Â I picked some but quickly realized that I hadn't chosen shellac colors. Â I asked the woman where the mood/temperature changing colors were and she showed me the basket. Â She then told me to go to a station at the back of the salon. Â I was confu6sed because I thought she said number 8. Â The only numbers I saw were on the pedicure chairs, so I was going to sit there. Â One of the employees gestured for me to sit next to the customer he was helping at a manicure station. Â He asked what I was getting done and told me to pick out some colors. Â Less than five minutes later, a young woman came over and asked what I'd like to do. Â I showed her a photo and asked if it was possible to do it with gel polish. Â I know that it can be difficult to do certain designs with gel due to the way it dries, so I always like to ask. Â I like intricate designs, but I also want it to last long, so I usually have to compromise. Â I wanted a sky blue background with clouds and black birds. Â She went to ask the woman who had initially greeted me about it, then returned to the station and said we could probably do a blue background, glitter, and the birds. Â I had picked a turquoise color instead and she brought over the clear polish with glitter, in addition to the black color for the birds in the design. Â Before she began, she asked if I was getting a manicure. Â I told her that I was, and she got started. We talked the entire time. I thought that this was incredibly sweet. Â I can be awkward sometimes, so when I'm in close proximity with people for extended periods of time, I prefer that it's not silent. Â She made an effort to keep the conversation going, as did I. Â At one point, she didn't like the way one of the birds turned out on my nails, so she removed it and did it again. Â I would've been satisfied either way but I appreciated her concern for her work and its craftsmanship (nails are hard to do, man). Â My nails ended up looking more like a robin's egg due to the colors and glitter I chose, but I love them! The visit took about 30-35 minutes. Â It didn't feel like a long time at all because it was such a pleasant experience. Â I had already been there for a good 25 minutes when I realized that I had never gotten her name. Â I wanted to make sure I had it for the purpose of my review. Â I looked for a name tag but did not see one, so I just asked. Â She told me that her name is Rebecca, and asked mine. Â Towards the end of my visit, she told me that my nails would cost $30 for the gel and $5 for the design, but that I get a student discount of 10%. Â Good deal! Â At one point, she wanted me to rotate my hands in the UV lamp. Â She asked if I wanted a shoulder massage while I waited. Â I'm really weird about touching (I told you guys...I'm awkward), so I told her that I was fine. Â She insisted and came around to do that while we waited for my nails to dry. Â It wasn't so bad. Â I'd never had that done in a salon before. Â I'm not sure if it's something spontaneous that she did or not, but again, it was very nice! Â Once my nails were dry, she went around to the other end of the table and got the lotion ready to massage my hands. Â She said my skin was very dry, so I should make sure I put lotion on whenever I wash my hands. Â HA. Â Dang. Â Thanks for the tip. Â I don't think anyone has ever massaged my hands so intensely at a salon. Seriously. Â It hurt a little because she was squeezing my fingertips so tightly. Â I guess that's the difference between massages at L V Nails versus other salons. Â I asked her if I had to tip in cash or on my card. Â She said I could do either or. Â She walked me around to the front and checked me out. Â I had to get change for the tip. Â I did notice a sign that said "Tip in cash please," so I'm not sure what the deal is with the discrepancy between the sign and what Rebecca told me. Â I'm just going to assume that it means they prefer customers tip in cash, but that it is still possible to tip via card.I will definitely be returning when the time comes! Read Less
