I've been to this place about 3 times now. I originally started going because they gave a student discount. However, last time I went, I got sns, and it looked very sloppy. Today, I went in to get sns removed after getting my nails done at another salon. The lady drilled so close to my actual nail that my fingers were burning the entire time. Not only that, she managed to cut my cuticle with the drill on two fingers. As if that wasn't bad enough, I got a regular manicure afterwards, and my nails look like my 6 year old niece painted them. For the life of me I can not figure out why this place has not been shut down by the health department.  The absolute dirtiest salon I have ever been to in my 68 years.  I immediately came home and doused myself with very strong cleaners.  So very disappointed.  Dirt and grime everywhere.  Electrical cords everywhere. My dirty towels from pedicure just thrown over the pedi cart for the next person to enjoy.  Instruments placed on the filthy dirty floor.  Don't look behind the pedi chairs your stomach will turn. Furniture ripped, fake flowers everywhere and beyond the cleaning stage.  Chandelier has not been cleaned since it was hung sometime in the last century.  Athens Health Department - clean up these places especially this one. Poor experience. Got SNS nails with tips and the tips were put on crooked. When I asked for the nail technician to file the tips differently, she started complaining about me to another lady. I guess since I look white she assumed I couldn't understand Vietnamese when I actually do, but whether or not people know, very unprofessional to talk about customers right in front of them. This is my first time visiting this salon and it will be my last. I decided to try it because it had the best reviews. I noticed they were busy but I still waited. They sat me in a pedicure chair where I waited for 15 minutes and then when my technician finally got to me, she did the fastest pedicure I’ve ever gotten (and not in a good way). She made me bleed not two but three times, and she did not shape my toes up at all. This pedicure was very rushed and I did not feel welcome at all. I will absolutely not be returning. Read Less

If you want a gel manicure, this is the place! I've had terrible experiences at other nail salons here in Athens, but this one has been the best. Best prices AND best service. This is the third time I've gone there and left unhappy. I came in for pink and white acrylics and you can see my nail bed through every one of my nails. I asked halfway through if my nails would look like this after they were done and the woman doing my nails literally laughed at me and said no. And I said I didn't like the way my nails turned out and that I had a very important event tomorrow and she just did nothing. She also knocked over a bottole of nail polish and it spilled all over my pants and she didn't do or say anything. I wish I would have asked for a refund or just gone somewhere else. Read Less

Very nice people and did a great job on my pedicure. Gentleman who did it had strong hands and the massage was perfect. Only issue is the smell. The fumes are strong and you notice the second you walk in. Need fans or better ventilation. Read Less

I was visiting from out of town for a family wedding in Atlanta and my nails were in desperate need of repair. I have acrylic nails and was looking for a legitimate nail salon (not a chop shop). I looked for someplace that was close to me, affordable and did quality work! Nobody I knew could refer me to a nail salon that they liked. I looked online and found a lot of places, but I chose this place mostly because of the reviews so I took a chance. I made an appointment for the next day. When I arrived, they took me right in. They were friendly and polite. Although the woman was prepared to remove my acrylic nails with acetone (so I could get a new full set) I requested that she file the acrylic off instead. She graciously obliged me. Her techniques were different than what I am used to with my regular nail girl, however, she did a very nice job. She was quicker than I expected for a full set too. I've only had my new set on for a few hours, but they look great and I'm happy with how much I paid (less than my regular girl). I would come back to this nail "salon" if I am ever in need again. I enjoy each experience. My favorite nail tech is Kelly. She knows what I like and exceeds my expectation everytime. The only thing I don't like is when I'm asked if I want my lip waxed. If I want my lip waxed.... I'll ask to get it waxed. And they are expensive but it's worth every penny. Read Less

Last time I came to this salon, I was extremely disappointed. My manicurist RUSHED through my gel manicure, made my cuticles bleed, and was it was just overall all an unpleasant experience. I don't get my nails done very often so it's a special thing for me and I was so disappointed with my experience. I'm in town on a work trip so I stopped in for a pedi... I almost left immediately due to the mixture   Of stale air and artificial fragrance that smacked me in the face- but I pushed through.  They sat me in a rickety pedicure chair that had seen better days. Couldn't use the massage feature bc it tipped with every kneed. A wasp circled the inside of the window next to me above a filthy foot tub that luckily no one was using. The lady was fine, but nearly cheese grated my heals off.  When I checked out, the price was higher than originally quoted, and I don't know of any upgrades I got???  Again, I'm not from the area, but I can't imagine who would come here more than once, unless they're up to date on their tetanus shot. This was the worst nail salon experience I can remember.  When we came in, they had us sit down without telling us there would be a wait.  I sat with my feet in freezing cold water for 30 minutes.  At one point I told someone that the water was too cold and they turned hot water on for maybe 5 seconds and then turned it off again.  It obviously made no difference.They have a pedicure menu, like a lot of places.  The prices are a little high for Athens.  During my pedicure they continually asked if I wanted to add ons that were above the pedicure that I chose.  I had to say no several times and I wonder if they would have just charged me more for each add on despite my choosing a particular pedicure from the menu.  When I declined callous remover she looked disgustedly at my feet and said I really need it.  (I don't.)  She made similar comments to my friend who was getting a polish change.  (You should really get a full manicure, your cuticles look terrible...that type of thing.  Most places will clean up your cuticles to some extent when you get a polish change.)As she took off my old gel and filed my nails she kept filing my skin.  I was visibly wincing but she did not apologize or make an effort to stop.  I was shocked that my fingers weren't bleeding.I got gel polish.  There were bubbles in every single one of my nails on my right hand and 3/5 on my left hand.  Most of my nails had polish spilling over onto the cuticle so those all began to peel off within a few days.  One nail had a giant lump where the polish had pooled up.  Within 4 days, not one nail was completely intact.  I noticed two signs by the register by the time I went to pay.  One said "Cash Tips Only" and the other said "We cannot take personal checks."  I told her that I didn't have cash and asked if I really could not write a check.  She said it was ok to tip on the card this once but, "Next time, remember cash."  There will not be a next time. Was in Athens over Labor Day weekend and needed a mani-pedi. I went to Express Nails and I wish I had gotten the two girls names who did my mani-pedi because they were awesome. I love this nail salon. It's the best in Athens, hands down! I've been there five times, and the second time I walked in the door the manager, Tran, and the nail tech who did my nails the first time, Dong, both smiled and called out to me by name. It had been three weeks since I was there for my first visit. They are so professional yet so friendly! The manager is really on top of everything that goes on in the salon. She has a really good style of making sure she understands what the customer wants and that they get it. She does this without being pushy or micromanaging the nail techs--they just all seem to work together really well. Dong, who does my nails, is a really good artist. I can give her a general idea of the design I want--usually only on a couple of nails, for accent--and she always does something much prettier than what I had imagined. Even though the shop is right on Prince Avenue, there's usually no problem with parking, as there is a dedicated parking lot just down from the shop that serves Express Nails and several other businesses in that little complex. The last two times I was there, I got the newer gel nails--SNS--which I really like. It's strong, like regular gel, but not so thick looking, and doesn't require as much time under the ultra-violet light, These folks really try hard to please their customers without being pushy. Wonderful! Highly recommend these ladies! I have been there several times for pedi and solar nails. They use hygienic disposable liners in foot tubs!  Tran (owner) walks around to each customer and makes sure they are happy with their service. I wanted a special design and Kimmie  took the time to draw my monogram the way I wanted and free hand painted it!!!  Dong  and Kelly do super eye services. ..brows and eye lash extensions (new to me!!) I first visited Express Nails on a Tuesday afternoon & simply walked right on in with no wait time. Unfortunately, that was the only highlight of my visit there. The nail color selection is very scarce. Of the two small carousels, there were no OPI brands and very few Essie brands...a lot of cheap or "off brand" polishes in shades of red. I got the basic pedicure & (french) manicure which totaled $35. My pedicure did last a while and was sufficient. My manicure on the other hand was subpar to say the least. My polish chipped the following day! No hot mitts were used, no oil, or any other manicure services that most nail salons provide. At one point, ,my technician had to leave me to go service a customer who walked in requesting her eyebrows arched. I hate to say it, but Express Nails will never receive my business again. I first went to Express Nails back in August 2011 for a pedicure. I'd previously had two other pedicures around Athens (one at Arbor Salon & Spa and one at City Salon + Spa). I was perfectly satisfied with that first pedicure at EN, but never got around to writing up a review. However, after a recent return, I figured I should write the review. This second visit was just this past week, and this time I brought a friend. We walked right in and they started prepping chairs for us. I was still picking a color when they ready, but my friend had hers. So, she got about a 5-10 minute head start. Yet, somehow, my pedicure was finished a good 5 minutes before hers. It was probably the fastest, worst pedicure I've ever had. Less than an hour after leaving, I looked down at my feet to notice that there were untouched callouses and dried skin that had not been scrubbed. So, it looks like I'm still on the hunt for a good pedicure in the $25 range. Read Less

After being unimpressed with a spa pedicure at the east side LV Nails near my home, I decided to try Express Nails on Prince while in the neighborhood for a haircut. I popped in around 2pm without a reservation and was promptly seated in the pedicure chair. What I liked about Express Nails more than LV nails is that they applied a bottom coat and top coat in addition to 2 coats of polish, which they applied very carefully. At LV Nails they only applied one coat of polish to my nails and didn't do such a hot job of it, either. I will definitely return to Express Nails. Read Less

I've been here twice, once for a mani and once for a pedi.  The employees are gracious and efficient; it usually doesn't take long.  They have done a good job both times.  Their prices are pretty reasonable--I think a mani is 12 and a pedi is 18.  They also have wifi which is cool if you need that.  Cons: The massaging chairs sometimes aren't so awesome and they have lots of red/pink polish and not a big selection of others (which is a con only if you want the others, I guess).  I'm going again tomorrow, so it is hereby recommended.
