Walked in last minute for a pedicure not knowing their hours and they were so kind to me. I went to another place and they wouldn't take me at 3:30, mind you they closed at 5. Anyways, they were super generous in taking me and the guy that did my feet wasn't rushing even though they were closed, massage was good, pricing was great. I've been to Luxor 4x now. I get the SNS (dip) nail process. The color is consistent and my nails are healthier and stronger. I have had 3 different technicians. Each work a little differently however the end result is already beautiful. I am very sensitive to the removal process of the old color and filing of the nail. I just moved to Tampa a couple weeks ago and looked on yelp for help finding a nail place and I liked the reviews so I drove 30 to this place hoping it was worth it. Kinn did my SNS nails with a tip, first time trying it and I absolutely loved them! He is very detailed and I liked that. Went in yesterday with medium length nails that took me 6 months to grow with sns treatments through my nail tech that resigned elsewhere. So, I found Luxor. 25 minutes away from me, no less. My 1 star review is based on how my nails look. He cut them down to the nub, and they WERE pretty (not long, but pretty). I changed my pink and whites to all black SNS. He asked if I liked them short (like they WERE), I concurred. Language barriers suck!!!! Before i could say anything, ...it was too late and wtf?! Now, today....only one day later....the sns is so thin that I can see the natural color sns underneath, in streaks. They look awful! Like they were painted with cheap paint and not SNS!!! My $40 sns plus $10 tip (cause Im not a dick & and that's way more than I've been paying) and 50 minutes plus round trip, was not worth it at all. Now I have to spend more money, find a new place again and spend MORE money to fix them! So, although you all were nice....stop thinning out your SNS! I had frequented this establishment for quite a few months and had been happy but the last 3 times have been a complete disaster. Today the technician who took care of me was absolutely horrible. He cut into my cuticles, it was painful and his response..."you're too sensitive"..sorry but when there are droplets of blood there's a problem.  He was so consumed in chit chatting totally forgot my massage and hand wash until I pointed it out. His response...laughter. He proceeded to paintmy nails and wanted to massage immediately after polishing. I was stunned and said no. What was even more disappointing was the owner or at least the woman who always seems to be in charge, Valerie, giggled right along with him. You are watching staff act unprofessionally and provide poor service and your reaction is to laugh??? So disappointed because I had enjoyed coming here but definitely won't be coming back nor will my daughter or best friend who I had recommended this place to. One more piece of advice for this establishment...I understand you are of a different nationality but speaking a different language in front of customers especially when it's obvious you are speaking about them is so rude. I am of Hispanic descent and would never speak in Spanish about someone, especially a customer, in front of them. Your job should be to focus on your clients not gossiping with co-workers in a different language. Read Less

I'm from out of town and this place is small, but clean. Not a lot of frill here, but the technicians totally make up for that. This was a wonderful experience for me. I got a pedicure and my nails done with the SNS for the first time. My nails look beautiful!  The lady that did my pedicure she took her time and made sure my feet were to her liking lol. 4 stars for detail and how nice and accommodating the technicians are. They will literally not let you leave without absolute perfect nail shaping and polish application. But be warned, they take a very long time. Minus one star because the place is very small and cramped, and the process itself takes a very long time. Expect to spend about an hour and 45 minutes minimum for an acrylic fill. And about an hour and a half for a regular pedi. This is not including gel polish. Always make an appointment! They have a very packed schedule and are not good for walk-ins due to how much time they spend per person. There is usually parking open in front, but there is also parking in the rear of the building.  If you have a few hours to spare for a perfect application with detail oriented nails techs, then this is your place! Completely let down!  I was surprised and nervous when I first pulled up.  It looked like an abandoned business building and there were only a couple parking spots.  The sign said there was more parking in the back but I didnt see where to go to get to the back, luckily I was able ti park up front.  I had called ahead and made an appt, originally asking for 1pm but they only had 12 available because they said they were booked however the entire time my friend and I were there, we were the only ones there the entire time.  When walking in we were greeted and the establishment was clean and they began filling the tubs.  They do line them with plastic (which i dont know if it really helps for cleanliness/sterilization or is more convenient for cleaning purpuses - something I've been meaning to look into).  There were not many choices of polish to choose from compared to other salons I've been to so that was slightly disappointing.  We both requested for the deluxe mani/pedi and I was not impressed with the service.  Most salons allow you to pick the type of foot mask to use and this place did not, the massage was not great and the hot stones didnt do much for me either.  It could be because the technician I had was inexperienced but there really wasnt an effort made, although the polish and my feet did look good and the end of it. The chair was also difficult to operate, I'm not sure if some of the buttons were broken but it did not have many options for the type of massage to select as most other salons I've been to.  The manicure was nothing special either.  I got a gel french manicure and they didnt file my nails evenly so the polish looks a little sloppy and i was not thrilled with the end result.  My friend did just regular polish and there was still polish all along the edges of her fingers.  I was exited to check this place out based on the previous reviews and extremely let down.  There are plenty of other nail salons in the area that will provide and much better service than what was offered here. Place is clean, small and intact. Prices are reasonable. $50 for a gel manicure and pedicure. However, will I return? umm No. Staff that took care of me, were very nice, but the owner of the establishment robbed me off the wrong way. Indulgence in gossiping in front of clients to me is a no no because, I also might be the center of your indulgence if I frequent this place regularly. If I could give 10 stars I would. The best pedicure I've ever had and my first SNS! I'm a licensed cosmetologist and was impressed with the level of cleanliness and sanitation. Each pedicure tub is lined with disposable plastic. The instruments used are sanitized and in their own packaging for each customer (not in a caddy like some nail salons). After reading a bunch of reviews I decided to give Luxor Nails a try. Val did my nails and did an awesome job! She's very personable and a good catch, conversations are great which is a nice bonus...most places dont have technicians that really hold a conversation with you. They have a large selection of SNS powder colors as well as gel colors. They offer everything from organic manicures to the classic acrylic tips and sns powders. Prices are fair. My old salon changed hands and was going through a rough patch finding a reliable team of techs, so I needed a new salon, QUICK!  I'm very picky, as I'm sensitive to pain and have extremely thin, paper-like nails.  I had had acrylics for a couple of years so my nails would stand up to tearing, but I was curious about SNS.  Through Yelp, I found Luxor Nails.Bebe has done my nails twice now, and I am devoted!  She is very thorough, gentle, and gets the color right down to the cuticle line so the grow-out time is maximized.  In other words, where many salons will have you looking like you're at 3-weeks' growth when you're really at 2 weeks, Bebe has you right on schedule at a true 3 weeks!  Also, her lengths are even, nail-to-nail, and her shaping is consistent (no slanted tips).  She asks periodically if it's how you like it, and if you want to change something, she does so until you are happy.  You will LOVE her!  Also, her dremeling is very precise!  I trust her implicitly!By the way, they have a gajillion SNS colors (this is an exact number)!  And you can add sparkle to something you like that doesn't have it!  Also, they have matching toenail colors (regular polish) for just about every SNS color, or so it seems.  I haven't looked closely, but it appears they have about a gajillion colors in acrylic, as well.  You've probably read in many other reviews about how clean the pedi tubs are, what with the tub liners.  It's all true.  I've had 2 pedis there, and I only know Brian's name; he's fantastic!  He will abolish your calluses to the netherworld they came from-- he's a dreamboat with the pumice, I swear!  They have different "levels" of pedi for a reasonable upcharge, far more reasonable than many salons, and the most wonderful scents.  Also they offer hot rock massage with them!  Mmmmmm....Now to the latest and probably my best news about Luxor.  I developed an ingrown nail on my thumbnail, which I had thought was some sort of infection.  It was well over a week after my mani, so I knew it wasn't the salon's fault, and I'm kind of hard on my hands, so I just figured I'd done something stupid.  Turns out, I did; I had done it with a nail grooming instrument, a hangnail shaver, which I used to think was such an awesome tool!  If you have one at home, toss it out!  I made an appointment with my doctor for last Monday and an appointment with Valerie at Luxor's new location, where Palm Nails used to be on S. MacDill, near the Brunchery and Pane Rustica.  Well, let me tell you, Valerie took one look and said it was just an ingrown nail, and I could have hugged her!  She got to work, and while she was working, Bebe, who was working on another client next to us, basically said that I had the right person working on me.Remember how I said I was extremely sensitive to pain?  There I was, doing breathing exercises, covering my eyes with the other hand, and Bebe said, "You could never do this to her.  Valerie can't even get a pedicure!  She's too sensitive!"  Just knowing that, I KNEW she was the right person for this job.  She was SO gentle, my ridiculously painful ingrown nail never hurt once while she was trimming away.  She spent 45 minutes on it, finding that I also had ingrown skin (caused by that tool I had used, which is how we figured out what has caused it all), and all I ever felt was more and more relief.  I had no idea that it was possible to trim out an ingrown nail and not cause ANY pain and also not cause the nail to look worse in the long run.  I fully expect that my nail, once it grows out, will look normal.  It looks practically normal now!  The tenderness in my skin took a few days to go away, but that is nothing compared to what it would have been had I gone to a doctor to cut it away at the root.  And then my nail would have been permanently disfigured.I cannot say enough wonderful things about Luxor Nails and the terrific ladies who take care of their clients there.  If you want to be treated like a VIP, look fantastic, feel relaxed, have a great time, and not break the bank (somehow) in the process, please go to Luxor Nails.  And don't forget they now have 2 locations!!  The new location is super convenient!!  Sorry this was so long, but I hope you managed to read it all to take in why I love my new-and-forever nail salon SO MUCH! Simply the BEST! I am extremely picky when it comes to my nails....how they look and where I have them done. I've done all the research if you are too. Valerie, Angela and the rest of the team at Luxor are fantastic! They listen to what you want, make recommendations, which are always accurate, and are meticulous in their work. The salon is lovely and filled with laughter and good vibes. I live almost 30 miles away but never hesitate to make the drive. First time here and I have to say I am extremely impressed! I am very particular when it comes to my nails and am a stickler for making them all look the same, even, not too thick etc. and I have found my match when it comes to providing that kind of service. It's a lot smaller than I expected, however the service is above and beyond! I got my SNS nails done, which is very hard to find and they did a phenomenal job! I will definitely be back again!
