This salon is fantastic. The layout is more spacious than others nearby, and the staff is honest with you about wait times. I've had a gel manicure, pedicure, and acrylics done here. I was satisfied with all three services. Once I even came in after being unsatisfied with my acrylics from another salon, and they soaked them off and started from scratch to make sure they were done correctly. The Nail Nook is small and personalized. They are always very welcoming and friendly. I've had both acrylics and pedicures here, both I've been extremely happy with. I've both walked in and have made appointments, both of which were with great ease and no wait. So when I get in there I asked for "snow flake white" gel polish, and she started with regular polish. I caught her right before and corrected her and then she did a French tip, I did not ask for that. In the middle of my pedicure they switched to another girl. I'm assuming inexperienced because the previous one was watching over her. Once she did my last coat I asked for another layer because they were not even and I could see through my nails. She proceeded by putting oil on my feet to "fix" the dry problem and then took me over to the manicure station. I had to explain to my friend and her again that I am not satisfied with my pedicure polish. Once I finished my manicure a guy took me over to correct my toes, my manicurist told him just to do one or two and when he asked me how many I had to explain to him that I asked for an additional later on each toe. So he began drilling my polish off. Another lady, I'm assuming the owner, came to complete the job. She did great. But when it was time to checkout I became even more aggregated on top of what I already was. When I called and asked how much a mani pedi and gel polish is they told me $61, but when I checked out they told me $81 and she charged my card in the process of me trying to find that extra charge on their menu. They do good work once they finally listen to what you want but the fact that I was told one charge and charged another is completely ridiculous. Never going back. Read Less

While the service was OK, the price was shocking.  I am new to town and was in a hurry to get my nails done, so I stopped into the Nail Nook as it was the first place I saw.  NO PRICES ARE POSTED.  That was my mistake--I should have asked.  A manicure and gel was $38!!!  At my old salon (out-of-state) I received the same service for $25. I just saw that another Yelp reviewer sald she called to find out their prices and they would not give prices over the phone.  They wanted to know where the caller lived..... What??  Do they charge more for people from Golden Eagle and less if you are from elsewhere?  I will NOT be going back. Read Less

This is my go-to salon in Tallahassee. The establishment is sparkling clean and the service is exceptional. I generally go in every couple of weeks to get my eyebrows waxed and my nails done with gel. Unlike many other salons in Tallahassee, these ladies TAKE THEIR TIME waxing/plucking your eyebrows and are never in a rush (& if they are, they don't act like it.) I work with the Florida Board of Cosmetology, so I am aware of safety and health issues for Nail salons.  I have tried several Tallahassee nail salons, and I will return to Nail Nook.  I visited for the first time recently as a walk-in.  I was pleasantly greeted with a smile and a welcome by one of the technicians, and attended to quickly.  They were moderately busy, but had 8 technicians at work.  I opted for their top of the line pedicure.  It was a lengthy pedicure with scrub, mask, moisturizers, hot stone massage, paraffin (ahh), and more. The pedicure tools were sterilized and sealed before use (thank you).  My regular (and basic) OPI polish for some reason did not dry as expected, but this was quickly remedied before I left. All nail surfaces were artfully covered, with no missing edges and no messy polish on my toes. Clean and crisp.  My mani request was simple, just a trim, mani, and burnish.  The nails could have been burnished a little more, but they were even and smooth.  An accidental painful nip at the cuticle received sincere regrets and abundant apologies. I had a nice soak, but next time will also ask for a cuticle softener.The salon is new, spacious, and clean, with calming, sometimes classical, music. I received a warm thanks and a friendly hug upon departure.  As I watched the technicians, I did not see anyone who did not appear to be friendly and competent.  I recommend.  I hope your experience is as good as mine was. Hands down the best manicure and pedicure I have ever experienced. I had terrific service with the pedicure by Vicki, and had the best full set done by the manager. It's so clean and relaxing there. I just recently moved to Tallahassee and was stressing over finding a nail salon. I decided to try Nail Nook and I'm so glad I did! My first time was amazing! I have found my go to nail salon! The staff is amazingly friendly; they ask through out the pedicure if the water is ok, if the massage is too hard, etc. The deluxe pedicure worth every penny of $36. They give you a long leg and foot massage that is better than any fancy spa I have ever been to. Also the tools are sterilized as you see them take them out of a bag. I went to Micheal way before he opened his own nail shop and he is amazing! His staff is wonderful as well!! Great atmosphere and wonderful people. Went there once and will never go back again. They were nice, but they didn't know what were doing. I got the Gel nails for my fingers and toe nails and they were already CHIPPING two days later. Keep in mind, I did not do any cleaning or any handy work those days so there is no reason why they should have started chipping. Very disappointed. I had gotten Gel Nails before and never had them chip away this fast. To their defense I did get a girl that was her first time working there (who kept getting the wrong color for me too), but if I am paying $83 I expect better service and for my nails to last much longer especially for gel. Soooo unprofessional ..I didn't get any services done here ..I just called this past Saturday to get a pricing on a manicure and pedicure since I was in Tallahassee for the weekend  .. And the guy who picked up the phone was like "hello".. For a second I thought I got the wrong number. I had to ask if it was a nail salon. He was like "yes", I asked how much a manicure and pedicure would be..he asks me "where are calling from?" ..I thought that was odd, I'm like "I'm in Tallahassee (duh) but my number is a California number." He's like "your number is a California number and you say you're in Tallahassee." I'm like yes..he goes on and ask me "are you doing this for someone?" ..(wtf?).."no"..he's like "if you want the price then come to the salon, I'll give you the price"....so ridiculous ..the point of me calling was to get a price before I drove to the salon..smh* idk what his problem was..excuse me for having the same phone number I've had since high school ..Cali born and raised ..as if people can't relocate or be on vacation...anyways I ended up going to millennium at midtown to get my pedicure done and nails done and they did a wonderful and PROFESSIONAL job there. Came here with my friend (the bride), her mom, my mom, and myself to prep for her wedding.The place is bright, clean, and large. It has a modern feel and updated chairs and foot baths. I called ahead to make an appointment, but the seemed to be able to see most walk ins in 5 mins.All of their tools are in sanitized pouches and they cleaned everything after each person. The staff was very friendly and professional. The guy that did my pedicure was very strong and really worked on the knots in my feet.Everyone was very happy with the quality of their nails. Love this place! I chose this place to get my mani pedi when I was having a bad day. Everything was sanitized (I watched employees open everything new). Most importantly, the service was great. I am hesitant to give this a 5 star review, only because i have never gotten a mani-pedi before, so I would have to go back a few more times in order to accurately judge the quality of my mani. Nail Nook is brand new (as of summer 2015) and a really cute spot. My gel manicure ($35) was great and two weeks later it is still looking perfect. They offered a beverage as we walked in and the service was great. The furniture all looks brand new including the pedicure chairs. Will definitely return. Read Less
