I needed to get my hair blown out before a big interview, so I wasn't picky about which stylist I had (and honestly can't remember her name because they changed her last minute). Service was good, they had my hair blown out in 30 minutes and if you've met me you know that's a feat. One thing is, it's upstairs, and kind of difficult to find at first in the dark. Tracy is an amazing massage therapist and takes his time to make sure his customers are comfortable and he communicates very well so he knows what target areas to work on. I've had my eyebrows waxed, gotten a manicure, and a facial from Meredith. If you wanna spend a day relaxing she's definitely the person you want to see. I've also gotten my hair cut and a balayage from Valerie, one of the hairstylists. It was my first time having someone color my hair and she made me feel at home. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SALON!! Everyone is so kind and welcoming and the atmosphere is always so positive and relaxing. In 2015 I had a surgery that caused me to shave half of my head and was very self conscious about my appearance, I called around to several salons asking for advice and no one would help me. I ended up calling Cabello's and Anna was SO NICE on the phone, she told me to come in and we would figure something out. She listened to my story and was extremely compassionate, along with a couple of the other stylist who were helping me, we could comb my hair over and throw in a Halo and no one would ever know that I didn't have hair half of my head, this was a great quick fix and something I could take in and out during my radiation treatments. A few months later, after completing radiation the little bit of hair that had grown back completely fell out in a patch and gave me a bald spot, again Anna went back to the drawing board and decided we would try the Halo Couture Tape In Extensions. THIS WAS AMAZING!! Anna had to get very creative on where she placed the extensions because the way my hair had fallen out, I had long pieces, short pieces, complete bald in places, but she made it work perfectly and it allowed my hair to remain healthy and grow. This salon is the BEST I have been to in Tallahassee. Not only is the decor beautiful, so are the people. I don't think I have ever looked forward to getting my hair done, or my facial, as much as I do now. I definitely like to pamper myself every so often. Am I one to get her nails done every two weeks so my manicure stays forever flawless? Not quite, but nothing says "treat yourself" like getting three paychecks in a month. ;)I like to keep things mostly simple. As an Asian woman, my hair is incredibly low maintenance and requires minimal to zero effort to look presentable. A few years ago I had an ombré done by my cousin and that was the last time I had any sort of color added to my head. Balayage is the new trend and after hours of perusing Pinterest for ideas I finally decided that my hair could use some dimension so I booked my appointment at Cabello's the next day. Unfortunately, dyeing hair as dark as mine can be very damaging and can take an ABSURD amount of time. Thankfully I already knew that it wouldn't be a possibility so I wasn't terribly disappointed. Instead, my stylist (Ashley) recommended peek-a-boo highlights to somewhat mimic balayage and it came out wonderfully! When I came in with my Pinterest picture of this grayish-blonde color I wasn't sure if my hopes were too high, but once she blow dried and styled my hair.. There it was. In all its glory. I researched a lot before finally finding Jentry's Instagram photos featuring her incredible cuts. I used to have my hair cut by a celebrity hair dresser in Las Vegas and now I'm in the boonies of the Florida Panhandle. I've had some really bad 10-minute haircuts, as that is all that is available near where I live now.I lucky and was able to make an appointment to see Jentry in a few days. I had a picture I had picked out for my new style that would be short and cut off all the trauma it had suffered at the hands of inexperienced stylists. Jentry saved me from myself and said a flat out NO! Then she said she could but I'd hate her for it. She said my hair is too thick and too curly for that pixie style. So she suggested she just cut some off and give me the best cut she could and we'll work with it while the really bad parts grow out.It took me a few days of practice to learn how to improve my curl with the two products she gave me, but now I have it down to a science. My hair hasn't seen such a thorough cut and bouncy style since I lived in Las Vegas. I'm so happy to have found her! I look forward to the hour drive to get my next cut. I have never posted a bad review for anything before, but this calls for an exception. I went in to Cabello's about two months ago, and I am still disappointed every time I look at my hair. I went in to get a balayage, but I came out with a chunky mess. My hair is dark brown, and I wanted to have a lighter ashy brown balayage. However, instead of ash brown, I got a red-orange-blonde color. I also asked for a couple of long layers, because my hair is very thick. I specifically... said I did not want them to look chunky, and that's exactly how it looks. I called afterwards to express my discontent, and politely asked to speak to the manager. I was told the manager was busy and she would call me back. The manager never called me. Instead, the person who did my hair called me. I explained to her how unhappy I was and that my hair is an extremely important part of my culture. She then got a horrible attitude with me, and told me everything was basically my fault. Needless to say, Cabello's has lost my business. This was not only unprofessional, but extremely rude. I hope that this review helps others. I now look at my hair everyday with discontent. This was my first "grown up" haircut in years (I've been getting $12 mediocre cuts at cheap chains for WAY too long) and Kaitlyn did amazing. She was quick but gave me exactly what I had imagined, and showed me a new way to style it that I hadn't tried before and I loved it. This is a great hair salon! Jentry has been doing my blond hair color for about 9 months since I moved back to Tallahassee. She's great at customer service and has done a wonderful job with the root color, highlights and low lights she's put in my hair.
