I had my hair cut here. The stylist that cut it doesn't work here anymore. The salon was ok, but the owner was rude. It turned me off to where I didn't want to come back. I wouldn't recommend coming here or working here, I know some things and all I can say is it's a shame for the people who have to quit and find another salon to work at bc the owner creates drama. Today was my first visit to Athena, and my first time having Kadi as a stylist. All I can say is that she is amazing!! I've always had longish hair, but have wanted to go short for a really long time. However, previous stylists always said I didn't have the face shape. I went in with a vision and Kadi went above and beyond. She may be listed as "Fresh Talent" but y'all she is without a doubt a Master Stylist! And she can do amazing things with color too! Gave it a star only to be able to post this. Received a gift certificate for Christmas. The owner, Mary, refused to honor it. She said the certificate that I held in my hand had been used. I just went in today and got my hair cut by Kadi. She was awesome! She took her time and was gentle with my delicate hair. She also gave me some good, practical advice about my hair which I appreciate. This was my first time at Athena's, but it won't be my last! Millie has been cutting my hair for the last few years and I've loved the way she's cut my hair. However, the last time I went in I got my hair hair colored. I wanted brown (my natural color) and purple balayage. Millie applied the purple die over all of my hair which turned my hair red. I expressed that I was unhappy and they wouldn't even fix it at a discounted price when in reality it should have been fixed free of charge since I paid $220 for that cut and color and it wasn't even what I wanted. I loved that the salon was small and did not seem overwhelming. Mary was great! She really listened to me about my wants for my hair, and she gave me good guidance without trying to sell me something I could not afford, which I love! Honestly, I come from Alabama where the cost for a cut is a good bit cheaper, but I just have to suck it up and pay $50 for a haircut, which I am fine with now. I have been to many hair salons in my lifetime and this was by far the BEST experience I've ever had. The owner, Mary, and my stylist, Natalie, were very helpful and knowledgeable. Natalie took her time coloring and cutting my hair. No rush job here! She did multiple strand tests, making sure the end result was what I wanted. My hair was dyed almost black at another local salon (to my horror) and Natalie performed some super hair magic. This is where I go to get my hair cut.  Natalie is my stylist and she does an incredible job.  She takes her time and is methodical with the cut and style of your hair (no need to worry about her taking more off than you want).  The salon is always clean and the staff are always friendly, polite and professional.  Money well spent! Do I have to give them one star? I set up my appointment for 3:00pm. I got a phone call from them saying the stylist that I had an appointment with quit, so I rescheduled my appointment for 1:15pm as requested, no problem. I got there and waited, then waited, and waited some more. Finally I asked when I would be seen, it was 2:00pm. The receptionist said, "sorry, you're next, maybe 15 more minutes." I waited until 2:20 pm and just got tired of kids screaming and grabbing me. I scheduled an appointment with another salon, canceled my appointment and left. I waisted all that time being screamed at by children in a small waiting area. I picked this place because of the good reviews, in hindsight I think Athena Salon either wrote their own reviews, or they got family and friends to do so. I received a gift of a Chakra Massage with Casey and a facial treatment with Sarah, my first of either treatment (and I'm 37!). Wow. I was so pampered! The massage worked out some knots/soreness I had from carrying my daughter, and I even feel increased range of motion in my neck! And the facial was SO relaxing, and my skin looked and felt so refreshed afterward. Just wished I had been able to do a date night with my hubby afterward, I FELT so beautiful and happy. I've been going to this salon since a horrible experience at a different (non-Aveda) salon in town.  The stylists there are truly artists and can work with any type of hairstyle and make you look absolutely fabulous.  Sarah is one of the most patient people when it comes to my way, thin, unwilling-to-cooperate-at-times hair.  Casey always provides a unique and relaxing experience in both her massages and facials.  Everyone is always friendly, even during their busiest times.  Their monthly emails with discounts and news are like clockwork.  I highly recommend this salon to anyone who needs a fantastic salon.
