I really really wanted to like this place. It's very close, the interior is gorgeous, the price is only slightly above my regular place, it's family owned...it just doesn't feel so much like a strip mall nail salon. We went in for a pedicure and our toes were done nicely and professionally. But I know basic Vietnamese, and I don't appreciate being talked and giggled about during my "relaxing experience." My mom could even tell, and she is blind and doesn't know the language! Three of them were having a grand old time laughing at me for being...allergic to latex? And they decided to do our leg massage but drag their nails on one side to see which of us would comment first. One was laughing so hard she was having to wipe tears from her eyes, and at one point was talking and holding her nose but quickly stopped when she saw me noticed. Her name was Cindy, I believe. And we are not dirty people. We took showers less than an hour before arrival! We are stereotypical Gardens inhabitants, I would imagine. I guess whatever gets you through the work day...but that can't get you many tips (yes, I tipped, don't worry). Anyway, we had read some scathing reviews elsewhere, have friends that have written it off due to to workers' talking and laughing about them. It's a shame because the owner is lovely and knows everyone who comes in, and all the stuff I mentioned in the beginning. I completely understand not understanding English and not talking, but just be silent (or work on your English! We love learning about you and things you enjoy!) rather than making people uncomfortable. I understand speaking to one another when you don't understand how to say it in English (like latex) or want to be discreet (your next customer is the tall my den over there). Anyway, I'm off to call my old employer and find out how to say "If you're going to talk about me while I'm here, please do it in a language I fully comprehend."TL;DR: we will be going back to our regular place where they make an effort to talk to us and not about us.
