Just walked into Zen Nail Spa was told it would just be a few minutes, sat in lobby for over 20 mins, then was taking to pedicure chair and told it would just be a few mins then 15 mins later the receptionist walks up and Says it's going to be another 10 mins because someone that had an appointment showed up late for it and they had to take her. She shows up late and you make everyone else wait on her....if an appointment shows up late they should be made to wait not the customers that have been there already waiting over 30 mins. Worst experience ever. Walked in with nails requesting a fill in, walked out in tears and no nails. After being switched between 3 people apparently me just wanting a fill in wasnt communicated and my nails were taken off because they thought i wanted dipping powder... No... I went in today for the first time and I wasn't disappointed at all. I recommend making an appointment during the week or if it is on a Sunday go right when they open because they don't take appointments on Sunday. Otherwise, you'll be put on a very long wait list. This place is alright. It was an average experience for my first time visiting this salon. The pedicure was very nice - the gentleman who did it took care to acknowledge that my feet are very ticklish. The gel set + gel polish was alright. It has been three weeks, and no chipping. However, the cuticle on my thumb was cut with the drilling tool. I haven’t been cut with one of those in a very long time. It has happened before, so I dealt with it, but I didn’t miss that feeling. The gal who did my set was easy to talk to, but I think she was pretty careless with the drill. I felt the grinding on all of my cuticles, was nervous the whole time, and I think I’m lucky she only cut the cuticle on my thumb. My experience at Zen Nails and Spa was disappointing! When I picked the color of my choice they said that it was only available if I got a gel package, I asked if I could simply take the regular nail polish, but they said no. Then I asked if I there was a shade similar to it and the also said no to that. There was a collection of that same shade. I ended up getting a darker shade of that color. I also had gel nails on so she decided to charge me for the removal. A woman of the Caucasian race sitting right next to me got the color that I wanted without the gel package My advice to you is if you want to treat yourself to a relaxing day at a spa, Zen Nails and Spa will never be your first option. Do NOT go to Zen Nail Spa on Blanding Blvd!They are so racist and the way I was treated today was so disgusting. When I came in they told me and my little sister to pick a color for our pedicure but once we sat down they told us that the regular polish in the set is only for customers who are getting gel manicures but the White lady next to me was able to get the regular polish with no problem. Then the woman (Kathy) doing my nails proceded to treat me very rude the ENTIRE ti...me. I pointed out that she left one nail crooked and she gave me an attitude about correcting it. At this point, I was frustrated and asked for the manager and he wasn't any better than his employee Kathy. He told me that it actually isn't an issue to get the color I wanted and that the next time I come he will make sure Kathy doesn't do my nails anymore. As if I was coming back! He also let me know he was going to have a talk with her. NOT ONCE did he offer to discount my bill after the horrible service or offer anything for my next visit. A couple minutes later he "checks" my nails and tells me they are all dry and I am ok to go. But as soon as I got in my car they smudged! I went back in to show him and he began to address me from across the salon! Telling me that it was MY fault for getting up only 15 minutes under the dryer and that it's a known fact that if you leave you cant do too much if you don't stay the entire drying time. I reminded him that HE told me my nails were dry I didn't leave until he said it was ok. He then proceeded to try to upsell me for another manicure and make ME pay for his mistake after I had already spent over $100 dollars. I should not have to pay for them to fix ANYTHING I should have been offered a discount after the poor service I had received. He also had his customer join our conversation and they both began to badger me on how it was my fault!! I have NEVER in my life had such good nails! YEN does my nails, and she is the only nail tech that I’ve ever had that could keep my nails from lifting. For someone who has been getting their nails done for quite a few years now, I have become very ‘picky’ or particular if you will, about my entire experience. I moved to the area a year ago and spent a lot of time switching salons every few weeks. It wasn’t until I came across Zen Nail Spa and their nail technician, Nina, I was completely satisfied. The spa has an organized and relaxing essence. When you walk in you immediately know it’s a clean environment and the staff is so friendly! Nina is by far the best nail tech I have ever had. She is not only so sweet but takes the time to make sure her work is perfected! And she doesn’t take forever doing it either. Nina, I appreciate everything you have done for me! My sister and i came out today to get our nails done. im always skeptical about trying out new places to get my nails done let alone to get my eye brows done. They made us feel right at home the second we walked in the door. We couldn’t be happier with the way our nails turned out and they actually talked to us as we got our stuff done. we had to bring in my 1 yr old and they gave her all of the attention a baby could need as she sat beside us. Got my nails done here and it was unlike any other place. Unfortunately my nails are very thin and sensitive so when the drill is used it hurts very badly and makes me jump (a lot) but this time didn't hurt and my nails came out perfectly. Yesterday was my first visit there. I went in expecting to wait and fortunately saw a friend of mine, so I sat and talked with her while I waited. As soon as I sat down they were ready for me. I have pretty bad feet with callous problems. They have a service which caters to my particular problem so I chose it. Although I didn't expect much, I was very happy with the end result. I went Friday for a full set and pedicure but it was close to closing time so instead of taking my money and rushing they just did one and took their time! I went in last night right at 5:15 for a pedicure & full acrylic set, not realizing they closed at 6:00. My pedicure wasn't finished until about 5:45, & I went over to start my acrylics. A man named Ken worked on my nails until they were perfect, taking his time & didn't rush through it at all. His wife Yen also waited until they were finished & helped him by starting the drying process. Both of them took their time to make sure I was happy with my nails & gave excellent service with a smile the whole time. I love going here. I could not come for a few weeks and they still remember how I like my nails done. Super clean and very friendly. Only place I have not had issues with my nails lifting. Went for my second pedicure at Zen Nails, my last was back in April. I went yesterday 9/24/2016. The last time my mother and I went, I had a decent experience, but her pedicurist was pretty rough. I told her to tell them to be more gentle this time, and we could try again. Well this time, both of us received pretty painful services, our feet were sore as soon as they were done. My Mother called me to tell me her big toe was throbbing last night. This morning it was oozing cl...ear liquid, and by this afternoon - it was crusty and leaking puss. As I type this review, my mother is at an urgent care clinic getting an antibiotic shot, and a prescription for more antibiotics. I can only hope the infection doesn't worsen.
