I'm a diva. I have no shame in admitting it. I'm the type of gal who appreciates good service and will drive the distance to get it. I used to live in Coral Reef and would drive to South Beach to get my nails and hair done. Once upon a time I juggled between two salons because I wanted the best of the best; one for my nails and the other for my hair. It got to the point that I was tired of the hassle and stress of traffic; spa days are supposed to be relaxing, not ticking time bombs. I decided it was time for a change and that's when I met Dana. I've known her now for over a year and she is my stylist, therapist and priest (ask her, she knows I've titled her as such).Dana is a very talented hair stylist. Very down-to-earth and knowledgeable in her field. She never imposes her own ideas, instead she works with you to attain the look that you want. I always walk away from her chair 110% satisfied. She's also very hair-friendly. What I mean by this is that if I want to bleach my hair and turn it purple, green and blue she won't comply just to make a quick buck. She actually cares that the bleach will probably destroy my hair and will pose an alternate way to have the look I want in a healthy manner. That's huge to me and says a lot about her, she truly cares about her client. So when my hair guru left the salon she was working at to relocate to Kijana's, I didn't think twice, she had a faithful client and I would follow her to her new place.Kijana's Salon and Blow Bar is pretty centralized seeing that you can just shoot down US1, take Ponce De Leon and you'll be there in a jiffy. (I live in Kendall and it took me 15-20 minutes on a Saturday to get there. not bad at all.)Enter this place and the first word that comes to my mind is Zen. It has a very chic, open and modern layout. You forget that you're right off a major thoroughfare in Coral Gables. There is absolutely no outside noise. Retreat mode has begun. They offer refreshments such as coffee, tea, wine and BEER. yes, you read right. I'll repeat: BEER. That was an awesome first. I've never seen that at a salon. The experience gets better.Walk over to the shampoo bar and your chair reclines and massages. So far I've got a beverage of choice, my hair is being washed, my feet are up and I'm in a massage chair. Life is great at this point.Aside from hair, Kijana's also offers manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing services.Pricing for hair is very reasonable, $65 for a hair cut, $45 for a blow dry. I'm not too well-versed on the other services, so my advice to you is to call and inquire. In a nutshell: Gables, great prices, BEER, reclining massage chair, great staff and a hair genius attending to me. I'm sold.Thank you Kijana's and thank you Dana for your excellent service!with love and fabulous hair,Marilyn Read Less
