Miami Beach is known for bad service, but I’ve never met more rude and unprofessional people than at this run down crappy looking “spa”, which is really just a renovated tear down house with no parking and minimum wage service workers delivering blowouts and nails that look like garbage. My manicure chipped off within a day and i gave them three chances. The manicurist blamed me for “working too much” which was never a real problem until i came to this disgusting place, but was an excuse to charge me $28 for a nail fix after charging $60 for a bad manicure. All of the blowouts here are mostly older women but they look beyond bad even for that crowd. So sad. Write down your favorite nail salon in the comments so we locals have a reputable place to go! There are the talented and the gifted... Eddie is gifted at what he does. Truly. He completely transformed my hair and that's not really doing it justice. It took me ages to find a great nail girl in miami ..it's really hard. I go to CONSTANCE at McAllister Spa (for years now) and she is the best. You will always leave with perfectly painted nails. Ladies with curly hair, look no further! Trish has been my go-to gal since I moved to Miami 3 years ago. I've had my fair share of terrible haircuts (sphinx-like lop offs, uneven ends, boxy layers-- you name it!) Trish has never let me down. She always listens to what I want (although, at this point, I let her do whatever she thinks is best), and delivers a cut I love time and time again. She doesn't push products, which is something I experienced with past stylists. She's super interesting and easy to chat with as well! I can't say enough good things about Trisha. I cannot express my recommendation enough for this salon. I moved here from Boston where I was with an amazing stylist for 10 years who always did amazing color, cuts, blow drys, and focused on the integrity of my hair. I have been searching for 8 months for a stylist in Miami who would be just as amazing at a salon that uses good products. I tried one salon and was unhappy so I ended up flying back to Boston just to get my hair done! I thought I would give it another try and I did my research and decided on McAllister and Eddie as a stylist.... I am so happy that I have found my new salon home! Every moment was exceptional, from the minute I walked in the door to the moment I left. Every staff member was hospitable and made me feel comfortable and welcomed. The color: Eddie took the time to get my color history and I described my vision to Eddie and he immediately had a plan to execute it. He is extremely knowledgable about color and was conscious of keeping my hair healthy. To contextualize this- I am blonde, my hair color is complex, and I have a lot of hair, yet he knew exactly what to do. He made sure I knew what could realistically be done in one sitting, which I appreciate so no faulty expectations are set. He spent hours on my hair meticulously hand painting color and toner (amazing balayage!), making sure his plan was executed impeccably. The color came out incredible. Further, because he has an expertise knowledge in color, we set an upkeep plan with how to get the most out of the color which was reasonable time and cost wise. I am particular about my hair and color and seek a lot in a stylist, and Eddie is everything I look for. The cut: To top off the amazing color, his cut is exactly what I was looking for. He took what I preferred and my concerns about my cut (I was feeling weighed down since my layers had grown out) and gave me something I wasn't able to articulate, but was exactly what I needed/wanted. The style: Then, to top it off even more, he knew how to style my hair (I told you I have a lot of hair and it is thick!). I have found a lot of salons in Miami do not style or blow dry my hair in a way that is appropriate for the kind of hair I have. Eddie knew exactly what to do with it and it came out perfect. Product: The salon used top products, including Olaplex, which is what I was on the hunt for in a salon. DO NOT hesitate to book this salon, and especially Eddie. It was quick and effortless to book an appointment. However, I was appalled at the poor and impersonal service: upon arrival, I was given a glass of water which was a nice touch, but then had to wait 20 min for my nail technician. I had acrylics and gels that needed to be removed and then asked for a normal manicure. What bothered me, apart from my nail tech's extremely impersonal, condescending and rude attitude, was the carelessness with which she handled my nails: I continuously cried out in pain because she slipped and buffed the skin surrounding my nails, which was met with cold indifference. I was then asked to dry what I thought was a base coat, after which she never came back; I had to go look for her and ask if everything was finished, to which she replied that she had told me everything was done... Absolutely unbelievable. I was also left with old spots from my previous gel colour, which had not been removed properly. I might just have been unlucky with my nail tech, but the utter lack of communication and the spa's apparent complete disregard for their customers does not make this a place for anyone looking for a high-quality service. McAllister Spa is truly the BEST salon in South Florida, in my opinion. From the staff to the quality of work, you will not find a salon that masters hair, nails, and many more services, then them. I've been going to this salon for almost 3 years and I will never go anywhere else, nor trust anyone else with my hair. Eddie, my go-to stylist, is extremely professional and always does a better job than expected. I'm not one to write bad reviews, but the nail service at this salon deserves one. I was referred by a friend and decided to try this place. First off, parking is a mess. If the 2 spots in front of the salon are taken, there is a gravel lot in the back to park in - if you have a small (non-SUV) sports car, forget parking here since it's on a huge incline and it's all gravel. Next, the nail room of the salon is a joke. The chairs you sit on are ripped and stained with nail polish. The table used for manicures is one long table, so if the person next to you is getting their nails filed while yours are being painted, the entire table is shaking! And on top of that, this table is only 1.5 feet wide, so your knees are constantly hitting the manicurists knees/legs. What poor planning and it's definitely not relaxing! Finally, the manicurist I had did not to a good job on a simple manicure. She filed my nails all different lengths, and I had to one by one show her every fingernail so that she could correct this, and in the process all the length of my nails disappeared. And the nail clipper she was going to use was rusted... Moreover, 2 manicurists were having a personal conversation as I was getting my nails done that was extremely loud and totally unprofessional. Also, for gel manicures, their nail polish color selection is lacking. Other salons have at least 3 times the choice of colors that they have :/ The only plus about this place is the staff are friendly and they have lots of open appointments. I had my first appointment today with Eddie and my daughter had an appointment with Julie, we went by coincidence because my hairstylist cancelled my appointment because of a family emergency and I have been postponing a haircut for way to long and I could not wait for a change, and let me tell you.. I do not regret the coincidence, picked Eddie for the pictures and reviews here on Yelp and Julie was the only one available for my 3 year old daughter and we both absolutely LOVE IT not only our new look but the service and patience. Vicky who washed and blow dried my hair was absolutely amazing and loving. I think the price was also very reasonable and even got a blow dry included. MARK HOLLOWAY IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST STYLIST ON SOUTH BEACH! I had a hard time tracking him down when I returned to SB last November because he had moved salons .. BUT Mark is well worth the effort! His color, high lights and cuts (plus best brow threading) are the absolute best I've ever experienced! I found Mark kind of by accident last year and went home raving about him to my stylist at home .. much to the stylist's dismay! Mark is just plain better at what he does than anyone I've ever used .. and I've used a LOT of different talented stylists over the years! I promise you .. you will NOT be disappointed if you make an appointment with Mark.
