Excellent nail techs and wonderful service. I am a first time customer of Modern Nails. I travel to the island often and did a Yelp search for salons nearby. There are a few options to choose from. I was happy to find Modern Nail was a short 5 minute drive away from me. I was seen immediately, experienced the quickest gel manicure EVER. And on top of that, it was AWESOME! I am from Miami where a gel manicure and regular pedicure takes easily 2 hours. I was in and out of this salon in 1 hour and 5 minutes. I usually get designs on my nails. Nothing extravagant, mainly a heart or two on one finger. The person who started with me could not do a heart. The next person messed up and it looked so bad she had to change the design from two cute little hearts to one big one. Then I was charged $7. For the one big heart on one finger total. Crazy. Look no further for a great massage!  We came to Marco Island on a golf trip and the first day there I aggregated my lower back muscles.  Not knowing anything on the island, I booked a massage for 90 minutes with Sue because it was the closest place to the condo we rented.  What a fantastic surprise how great the massage turned out to be.  I get massages 2-3 times monthly and have never had a better massage anywhere.  Sue was professional, attentive and strong.  If you are looking for a great massage, I promise you will not be disappointed.  Sue the savior! This is a well run and excellent place for a mani and pedi.  My favorites are Brian or Julie but book ahead.  This is the only mani that lasts and the gel nails almost three weeks.  Brian's pedi is a luxury deal.  But the hidden gem here is booking Sue for a massage!  She is the real deal and better than the Marriott or other pricey spas.  She knows how to go deep and gets to your problem areas.  I went today feeling so down and stiff and came out a different person.  I am traveling tomorrow and I wasn't sure I could do it but after an hour with Sue I am ready to go.  Best I have ever had.  Book ahead.  She is also busy!In addition, Alex is amazing with mens hair.  Every other place in Marco will give the "military cut" but Alex works with the shape of your head.  When we travel and have to cut with someone else my husband always says he needs an "Alex cut!" Walked right in on a Saturday during the season. Brian did my pedicure and Anna my manicure. It was a quick in and out, no fuss but friendly and quality. I used to go to Julie every two weeks like clockwork. I'm very picky and I will say she does beautiful work. Here's the problem. She answers the phone every few seconds. When she's not answering the phone, she makes personal calls while doing my nails. When she's not on the phone, she's more interested in who's coming in the door. Told me she'll be right back. Thought she had to use the restroom, but turned out she squeezed in an eyebrow wax. While doing my pedi she almost fell off her stool trying to see who was coming in the door. The very last time I went there all I did was walk in the door and she said " I have no time for you now. I'll make an appt. for you". All I needed was a drop of glue as I was on my way to work. I am in Marco Island vacationing and needed a manicure. I get a weekly manicure at home. I stopped in Modern Nails . This was the truly the worst manicure I have ever had. The tools that were used were dirty and they used a nail file that was old and way too rough. The polish was dried out and the manicurist did not understand a word I was saying to him. My first time here. Didn't know this place had a hair salon inside, they need to advertise that more. The sign outside says modern nail and spa but on the window they have 1 sign that says HAIR. Would have never guessed. Anyways, I came in to get a haircut/trim and color. My hairstylist was Alex and he did a great job! I'm VERY picky with my hair especially with all the horrible times people have chopped it off or colored it wrong. I was nervous at first but I really needed a haircut and color. Alex is a cool guy gave me step by step on how my hair would be cut and colored. In the end it came out really good and very happy! He definitely got rid of the brassy color I had from the Florida sun. I didn't have a problem with the service I received or the price of the service. But I did have a bad problem with the nail tech that was working on a client next to me. The tech's was very flustered and bossing everyone around, grabbing and slamming thing acting as if she owned the salon,come to find out she didn't. She then proceeded to tell her client that "all the walk ins today are bitches". "In fact for the last 2 days all we have had are bitches. Some man came in the day before and was complaining about having to wait and I told him to sit down & chill out or go some other place". That is a direct quote.  Certainly I don't want to go to a salon where this attitude is taken.  I have her name began Phi------Nia. I am on vacation in Marco and chose this salon from the reviews.  I was a walk in for a mani/pedi and they took me right away.  Kevin was a great nail tech.  He was efficient, personable and good at his craft.  I will definitely return here and recommend him to my friends. This is the absolute worst salon I have ever been to. The floors were filthy, the  tools were not sterilized, the towel was dirty and the technician had no idea what she was doing. I left after 10 minutes. They did give me my money back. Do NOT waste your time here. Read Less
